MODULAR ARTIST’S HOUSE

Developing a design model catalog: The design models were a result of a two step process. Which was realized by using a “parallelogram” profile, and applying a simple “extrusion” generator on it, and “sectioning” the result. This collection of various combinations were then adapted into a functional spaces. Model making was also a two step process. First, models were made out of blue foam. After, these blue foam models were translated into paper models in order to explore new possibilities of a surface model. This design experiement, where the form making process is limitied by only several steps, pushes a designer to become more creative in space making and programmatic arrangement of the project.

The view that is offered underneath the roof eliminates the view of the sky and mountains. The view is framed and serves as a screen that looks inside of the city. The observer pays attention to city’s dynamics. City becomes active and observer static.

The farest sunlight line throughout the year goes until the drainage pipe which is a seam between vegetation and wooden flooring

Site Model

The roof of the observatory is tilted the way that the view and the dynamics of the city is eliminated from the existing view. Since in the big city such as Los Angeles it is hard to find a place that offers a view of the sky and Saint Gabriel Mountains. The view itself which is stationary, static and motionless makes an observer to be dynamic and active

42nd Street is a major crosstown street on the Island and New York City borough of Manhattan. The corner of 42nd Street and Broadway, at the southeast corner of Times Square, was the eastern terminus of the Lincoln Highway, the first road across the United States of America, which was conceived and mapped in 1913. The Lincoln Highway proceeded west on 42nd Street to the Weehawken Ferry. After crossing the Hudson River to Weehawken, New Jersey, the Lincoln Highway continued 3,389 miles (5,454 km) across the country to its western terminus in Lincoln Park in San Francisco, California.

Traditional masonry is labor-intensive; individual projects were slow and not scalable to the needs of overcrowded cities. To ameliorate a severe housing shortage, during 1947-1951 Soviet architects evaluated various technologies attempting to reduce costs and completion time.

During January 1950 an architects' convention, supervised by Khrushchev (then the party director of Moscow), declared low-cost, quick technologies the objective of Soviet architects. During 1954-1961, engineer Vitaly Lagutenko, chief planner of Moscow since 1956, designed and tested the mass-scale, industrialized construction process, relying on concrete panel plants and a quick assembly schedule.

During 1961, Lagutenko’s institute released the K-7 design of a prefabricated 5-story building that became typical of the Khrushchyovka. 64,000 units (3,000,000 m2 (32,000,000 sq ft)) of this type were built in Moscow from 1961 to 1968. Space limitations forced a switch to 9 or 12-story buildings; the last 5-story Khrushyovka was completed there during 1971. USSR continued building Khrushyovkas until the end of communism; millions of such units are now past their design lifetime.

CONSTRUCTION PROCESS


DEFINITION: Khrushchyovka is a type of low-cost, concrete-paneled or brick three- to five-storied apartment building which was developed in the USSR during the early 1960s, during the time its namesake Nikita Khrushchev directed the Soviet government. DESIGN: The Khrushchovka design was an early attempt at industrialised and prefabricated building, the elements (or panels) made at concrete plants and trucked to the site as needed. HEIGHT: Elevators were considered too costly and time consuming to build, and according to Soviet health/safety standards, five stories was the maximum height of a building without an elevator. Thus, almost all Khrushyovkas have five stories. BATHROOMS: Khrushchyovkas featured combined bathrooms. They had been introduced with Ivan Zholtovsky's prize-winning Bolshaya Kaluzhskaya building, but Lagutenko continued the space-saving idea, replacing regular-sized bathtubs with 120 cm (4 ft) long "sitting baths". Completed bathrooms cubicles, assembled at a Khoroshevsky plant, were trucked to the site; construction crews would lower them in place and connect the piping. KITCHENS: were also small, usually 6 m2 (65 sq ft). This was also common for many non-elite class Stalinist houses, some of which had dedicated dining rooms.Typical apartments of the K-7 series have a total area of 30 m2 (323 sq ft) (1-room), 44 m2 (474 sq ft) (2-room) and 60 m2 (646 sq ft) (3-room). Later designs further reduced these meager areas. Rooms of K-7 are "isolated", in the sense that they all connect to a small entrance hall, not to each other. Later designs (Đ&#x;-35 et al.) disposed with this "redundancy": residents had to pass through the living room to reach the bedroom. PROBLEMS: These apartments were planned for small

families, but in reality it was not unusual for three generations of people to live together in two-room apartments. Some apartments had a "luxurious" storage room. In reality, it often served as another bedroom, without windows or ventilation.

CINEMATOGRAPHY: This "cookie-cutter" architectural method is satirized by the 1975 Soviet comedy movie Irony of Fate or Enjoy Your Bath, where a Moscowdweller was flown by mistake to Leningrad, the taxicab drove him to his home street address which happens to exist in Leningrad as well, and the house and the apartment, and even the key to the apartment are exactly the same as his own.--

The place where the sacred is continuously renewed and rediscovered Time has shown that the sacred is commonly understood as the contrary of profane. Through its definitive expression what is sacred to one may appear profane to another resulting in divergent ideologies and irreconcilable perspectives. This project investigates the relavance of architecture as a medium that faulitates a new, collective understanding of the sacred as that which includes profane. Architecture’s potential to create opportunities for reconciliation is embeded in the diversity and temporality of its environments a place of eternal renewal. The expression / identity of the project s determined by articulation of programs around the sanctuary. Where hotel and casino programs are treated as continuation of the urban fabric of Rome. Baths is embeded into the project as a liner/divider between profane and sacred places within the project.

The Capitoline Hill between the Forum and the Campus Martius, is one of the seven hills of Rome. It was the citadel (equivalent of the ancient Greek acropolis) of the earliest Romans. The Capitoline contains few ancient ground-level ruins, as they are almost entirely covered up by Medieval and Renaissance palaces (now housing the Capitoline Museums) that surround a piazza, a significant urban plan designed by Michelangelo.

TRAM DEPOT RENOVATION PROPOSAL

RAILWAYS Initial Tram Depot construction was governed by the railway system factors. In order to preserve the historic value of the site we propose to keep old railways. One circular line will be operating as an amusement for children and families. Whereas the remaining lines will adopt the pedestrian walkways and vegetations. SCAFFOLDING The People’s park is located in a very dense neighborhood. There is no any resting areas within 2 kilometers from the site. Considering the fact during the design phase we wanted to create space where an individual could find peace and rejuvenate from the busy days.

Scaffolding will hold various programs like outside communal area with planting beds, benches, and shadings, art-walk with art exhibitions, and an installation area to hold annual competitions. It will also be one of the income sources on the premises to maintain the park expenses. A giant display will be screening sport events and live concerts. Stairs weaves inside the scaffolding structures and takes you to the top to enjoy the views and appreciate the artworks. The modular nature of the scaffolding ease its construction and cost. It also can be utilised for different programmatic uses. If during the summertime it will hold art installations, during winter it will be operated as a winter garden.

CONCERT HALL H1505

Урбанистическая ситуация Концертного зала расположена так что создает наружную площадь/ плазу для личного использования здания – дает возможность проводить события такие как фестивали и концерты на открытом воздухе.

Следовательно по ген плану будущего города уместно предполагать, что дополнительно к выше указанной концертной площади, расположение здания создаст визуальную и функциональную связь с площадью напротив федерального здания.

Создается контраст ме между целью двух площадей (площадью концертного зала), где на площади города и площадью кон он федерального здания люди проводят время в будние дни, а площадь концертного холла предназначена для особых событий и для избранной бранной аудитории.

on design elements The concept is to take classic elements that are visually associated with Middle East. and use it as a base for our design.

Sand dunes: We were fascinated by natural formation process of sand dunes

Market typology: In order to add a regularity to spaces with a large number of people in the mosque, we incorporated this typology.

on site We have taken into a consideration the scale of the Creek Tower located on the direct central axis of the mosque site. Therefore, we are proposing a mosque that would have similar architectural-tectonic sense. The form that is easy to read and memorable to impress became our approach..


ON PERFORATION ...prayer hall will filter the sunlight into the interior during the day, and glowat night


on section Looking at the idea of Ablution as a ritual of purification, we divided the act of cleaning and praying not only programmatically but also physically. The worshipper will transition into the main prayer hall on the upper level of the mosque only by going through a level of ablution.
