RESURGENCE l Trailer
Best Degree Project (CG Short), BUDM ShowPro 2024

Team Size: 12 members
Role: Producer
Responsibilities:
Project Proposal, Production scheduling, Budget management, File management, Progress tracking, Production coordination, Documentation, Meeting minutes record
The "RESURGENCE Trailer" is a CG short project telling a story of a robot in post-apocalypse world that involved many challenges, particularly with the number of scenes, design elements, characters, assets, effects, and animations that required careful planning, breakdown and management.

We held frequent meetings to track progress and address issues. Meeting minutes were recorded to ensure nothing was missed.
We worked entirely online using Google Drive File Stream for easy access and organized folder structure and file naming. Due to time constraints, we chose Redshift Renderer and set up our own render units with Deadline, giving us more time for production. The schedule was planned for parallel work to manage resources efficiently.
The project also involved coordinating with external resources, such as a narrator and a render farm, to ensure smooth execution and to meet our requirements.

In the CG short "UNIT-09," we told the story of special forces on a suicide mission to stop an apocalypse.
VFX simulation played a major role in this project, pushing us to explore and learn new techniques. Additionally, I personally improved my communication skills by coordinate with an international render farm, enhancing my ability to communicate effectively across different time zones and cultures, and manage the project budget to ensure we stayed within financial constraints while achieving our desired quality.

This advertising video project was mentored by experts from Yggdrazil Group. We chose the EV automobile model "Audi RS Q8" and focused on its brand slogan, "Being Ahead through Technology." As part of the project, I conducted market research to effectively deliver the key message of the product.

We learned to combine live-action shooting with CGI, ensuring the set was properly prepared for compositing. This involved preparing the location, tracking points, lighting, and camera setup. We pre-planned our set in 3D to guide the on-set lighting and camera arrangement.

For rendering, we used Arnold and allocated a significant amount of time to this process. We utilized render farms and borrowed university labs for additional resources, despite inconsistent access.

In this project, we developed a story set in a steampunk-themed world and created an opening title sequence.
As our first project, we focused on ensuring our production process was smooth and the final quality matched our skill level at the time. This experience was instrumental in building our foundational skills in production and storytelling, involved careful planning, regular team meetings, and continuous feedback loops to refine our work.
