The first private restoration initiative in the walled city of Delhi, this project involves the restoration and rehabilitation of a Grade II B listed haveli in Kashmere Gate. Without any plans or photographs, the task at hand was to firstly understand the structure, assess its vulnerability given that part of it was disused and then develop a design solution for its integration into the daily use. The project has involved the preparation of measured drawings, fabric assessment drawings, development of a conservation management plan and a integrated design proposal for reuse of the historic building into a modern residential dwelling. The works include comprehensive structural repair and architectural restoration including electrical and civil works, design of interiors and revival of historic finishes such as china mosaic, lime stucco plaster etc. A pathbreaking project it has established an exemplary precedent for the city showing a way forward to a sustainable future for the large st
