In Mumbai there are more than 3lakh stray dogs and cats.The animal adoption rate and their population is increasing but , with that increasing rate, facilities available for them such as healthcare's, adoption centres , open spaces, should be increase. So that it caters all their needs and will serve the needs of all domestic and pet animals at accessible and affordable rates.

Recently a number of pet families are increasing constantly and accordingly, a number of those who want professional diagnosis and treatment for their pets.There is need to inspire co-existence between stray animals and the people of Mumbai to save life and to contribute healthy coexistence, by finding loving homes for helpless ones and by giving them the better healthcare facilities.

The aim is to plug the existing gap in animal welfare in Mumbai by proposing a strategically designed animal hospital and adoption centre, catering to Domestic and pet animals from City.

Bai sakarbai Dinshaw Petit hospital, parel ,is only multispecialised animal hospital in Mumbai. It was built in 1883 by sir Dinshaw Petit. It is well known animal hospital but still in bad condition , is in the vicinity of veterinary college, therefore by redesigning this hospital can offer better platform for veterinary college students for practice. Designing new hospital at another location can be the solution against shortfall of animal hospitals. but if we consider existing condition of Bai Sakarbai Dinshaw Petit Hospital then as per study ,approximately after 30 years , this hospital will loose its existance and with that we will also loose historic value.

It was a heritage structure but now in dilapidated state.hence now it is not considered as a heritage structure.

Aim is to retain visiual identity and adaptive re-use of the structure as library and cafeteria.

Tracing the roots of Mumbai to her earliest growth surge which is attributable to the industrial settlements, one realizes the importance of well planned industrial townships, as they can be growth magnets of today and become urban centres of tomorrow. Hence, the focus of this studio problem is based on the theme of planning for the future city, within today’s infrastructural requirement.

The City as an agglomeration of planning sentiments has been driven by small sector growth and larger townships, both and there can be compelling arguments for each type of development.

Smaller developments, lead to more variety and character, but can be difficult to control and lead to overcrowding and constant changes to infrastru ture as the population grows.

In planned cities, infrastructure is always planned before the users step in, based more on a growth sentiment. Like eminent examples of Chandigarh or Brasilia have demonstrated, careful planning can lead to character, as well as better quality of life 19

A Logistics Centre is the hub of a specific area where all the activities relating to transport, logistics and goods distribution - both for national and international transit – are carried out, on a commercial basis, by various operators.The operators may be either owners or tenants of the buildings or facilities (warehouses, distribution centres, storage areas, offices, truck services, guest houses, stay facility etc.) built there. In order to comply with free market rules, a Logistics Centre must be accessible to all companies involved in the activities set out above.

The most important infrastructures inside a Logistics Centre are the warehouses and the intermodal teminal. The warehouse is the infrastructure where the transport operator mostly performs his business.

There are different types of warehouses, depending on the activity the transport operator deals with and the freights it handles.

In short, the Logistics Centre is simply a village planned and built to best manage all the activities involved in freight movement. Just as with a residential village, a freight one comprises not only infrastruc tures but also the services necessary to satisfying and responding to the requirements arising from its primary transportactivity.

For any country the mission of Paediatric health care and education / specialisation is to attain optimal physical, mental and social healthand- well-being for all infantschildren, and young adults. To this end, each society/country.specialisation training in paediatrics needs to expand beyond the boundaries of current traditional hospital based educationof doctors.

With this objective the “ BaiJerbai Wadia Children Hospital�, an existing renowned major health care facility, located at Parel has decided to set up a state-of-the-art paediatric postgraduate institute. The goal of this institute is provide quality paediatric residency training,to prepare physician and surgeons for specialised child health care practice.

In India as elsewhere, life expectancy has improved with better medical care and improved nutrition. As a result, people are living longer. They constitute a vastly experienced human resource with tremendous potential to contribute to national development.Their well being is the concern of both the society and the state.

There’s a new generation of age 60 plus Indians. They’re independent, financially stable, have travelled the world, and now they’re looking for somewhere to retire comfortably.

It is estimated that the segment of the Indian population who are over 60 years of age, will encompass 240 million people by 2050. It is considered the fastest growing demographic in the world.The market investment and potential in India, for this sector is demanding.

Location of the site is in the outskirt of Karjat in midst of beautiful forest and mango farms. An adventure resort is to be designed on the contour site surrounded by the lake on three sides, with various adventure activities on the site. All the accommodation , dinning and other facilities should be provided accordingly.

location of the site is at Shillong near the umiam lake. Shillong is one of the places in India where tribal art is still alive. To preserve this khasi tribal art of making art and crafts from Bamboo, there is a need to design a structure which will provide a platform to khasi people to sell there products.

As there are only small shops in the village,therefore there is need to design art and craft centre to display and to sell the khasi tribal craft. and the proposed structural cunstruction will be according to the availability of the local products (vernacular type of a architectural design) by considering the site context.

Studying the three junctions and identifying the problems related to commute and transportation was the initial phase. And proposing a suitable design to cater the identified problems was the second phase of the project.

By accommodating and integrating street vendors into the built environment of Infinity mall Junction, formal and informal systems can complement each other, thus allowing a diverse group of users to interact.

A Multimodal Transport Interchange hub which aims to develop as an iconic mixed use development complex; at the intersection of Metro Route I and II ie at DN Nagar Junction will promote the usage of public transport system and shall enhance the flow of the vehicular and the pedestrian traffic thus giving a unique identity to the site.

A Circle at the Juhu Junction along with an Underground Pedestrian Subway that aims to link the proposed Metro Route 1 to the subway will ease out the vehicular traffic at the junction and cater to the increased pedestrian traffic on the site thus ensuring smooth flow of traffic for both.

It was a group assignment in which g-south ward was selected and further 6 parts were made of g-south ward, each part was distributed amongst the group, the particular area of ward was mapped for land use, amenities, solid waste management etc. and after the analysis a design was to be proposed accordingly.

The firm has been founded by Architect Rahul Manohar who has been practicing from Mumbai since 1993. Architect Rahul Manohar also takes an active interest in Academia and has been a part of the Visiting Faculty at Rachana Sansad’s Academy of Architecture at Mumbai since 2009.

Working with RMM Designs has been a great experience. It offered a great platform to work and an exposure to outside world.

The variation in projects ranging from educational project to hospitality project helped me learn different aspects and details of designing. Every new project gave me an opportunity to design and explore different concepts.

I have learned that completing work as per time is of utmost important in professional field. One major fact I have experienced in office is never get too attached with a design as the client may have different opinions.

Designing from scratch till execution is a very long process and the most crucial part is following up with contractors. It is very important to give proper instructions and required guidance because one small mistake can be costly.

The guidance of Rahul sir was really helpful.

This auditorium is under construction and is one of the largest auditoriums in South India with a planned capacity of 2500 seats. This project posed an unique design challenge since the auditorium is planned on the top floor of a 5 storey academic building. The ceiling design is developed in 2 distinct zones divided by the light-bridge. The suspended ceiling panels in the rear zone are planned to offer a combination of direct and diffused lighting for different mood & event settings. To meet with the client’s requirement of having a near maintenance-free interior, majority of the finishes are in stone and aluminium which have been ingeniously profiled and patterned to suit the demanding acoustic requirements. The latest stage equipment and audio-video systems have been planned to meet the multi-functional needs of the auditorium..

Family based agro business company invited RMM Designs to master plan an innovative resort concept that would combine the rural experience of wine and amenities.

The program includes reception, clubhouse, restaurant ,office area , spa, pool and service support to single and double occupancy rooms.

The institute of chemical technology renovating there campus including dye-stuff department. Many dyestuff companies have origins in research conducted in this department. Hence its program required several laboratories ,observation rooms, faculty rooms. From which high pressure lab and other departments designed as one block but structurally separated ,for safety from any accidents. The design was to be very simple as per existing structure’s footprint.

Campus is on an 8 acre site which is a part of the Indian Institute of Science (IISC) Campus. The complex comprises of a Faculty Block, a 300 seater Auditorium & a Residential Wing.Low rise development planned with combination of sloping roof elements and arched corridors.

In Landscape Designing various exercise were conucted through which we studied the countours drawing ,the levels of countours, flowing water analysis etc.and two other land scape designing poject were done.

1. It was a group exercise in which interesting contour was to be made using clay.

Then this model was filled with water, level by level and contour plan was drawn.

Along with the particular planning spaces, it was a collaborative study of materials, services and other designing elements included in interior designing.

1. House- interior of 1bhk was to be developed in accordance of the specific client requirement to be assumed by individual.

2. cafeteria+jewellery shop / book store-this was design exercise in which a particular function like jewellery shop, book store or shopping mall including the cafe was to designed with the particular concept.

It was a mapping exercise of various living typologies in Mumbai. Different areas from gaothans, slums, chawls, bungalows, etc. were selected and mapped. And after the study, analysis was done and compared.

Umbartha was about various understandings on organic growth of dense housing settelments in the city of mumbai at Charkop sector 5.

These are the set of studies done prior to the designing projects to know the essence of designing.This is the most important process involved in designing.

Such various kind of exercises helps us to study the effect of light on spaces, merging of volumes, geometry,scale and many such elements which forms a base of design.

To intersect the volumes such as cube ,cuboid, pyramid etc. to create interesting spaces. Each module was made using wireframe and planes were added after intersection later each plane was replaced with the with the colourful paper and light fixture was made 87

STEP 1: To study gestal principle by using sticks & arranging them in a 3d space STEP 2: Adding few planes to the model to ceate interesting spaces(encloser) on a certain scale STEP 3: Highlighting a plane by giving a color which emphasizes the model and studying it under light

STEP 1: To study transition of space, arrange alphabates in suitable order in 3 x 3 grid STEP 2: select two composition of alphabates STEP 3: A transition was to be drawn using 24 planes from first to second composition in a smooth fashion

A certain alphabate was selected and a figure and ground pattern was created this 2d patterns was transformed into 3d filigree cube

These are the set of exercises apart from the main designing exercises, which includes model making, carpentary, product design, etc.

These various exercises helps us to know the designing concepts and allow us to improve our skills in various supporting fields.

These exercises were about to study other architects work, to understand design process and structural systems of these structures.

Physical model is the best way to understand scale, materials and structural system.

Maker Mela was the event conducted by the somaiya college.

In which groups of students from various colleges come and make installations. The brief was to design the product for the urban commuter . On study it was analysed that there is lack of sitting spaces with a shed. So we created a kinetic structure inspired from theo janson mechanism which moves when people sit on it.
