Aïsha Piquer Planella

Illustrator / Designer

My name is Aïsha, and I’m an independent Illustrator and Concept artist based in London, United Kingdom. I’m a Psychology graduate from the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona, my hometown.

I am a masters graduate from Cambridge School of Visual and Performing Arts. I finished my Psychology degree in 2020 and travelled to the UK to widen my world and my experiences.

I have always immersed myself in the world of the Arts and have completed numerous courses over the years. I am an extrovert, and find most of my inspiration through my connection to those around me. I approach every situation with an open mind and eagerness to learn and improve. I see creative opportunities everywhere. In my past studies I realized Psychology has so much potential when applied to everyday life, but especially with the arts, where a small line in a drawing can change its emotional value.

TRANS HEALTH

Illustration set (October 2023)

Set of 14 illustrations created for Associació Gender and LGBT Lab. Used for an education course directed at Health professionals within the health system of Catalunya.

I was given full creative license, taking into account the parameters of each category in where the illustrations would go. The restricted palette used incorporated variations of blue, pink and white, the colours of the trans flag.

SPRING IN THE FOREST

Illustration (January 2020- April 2020)

This was a character design project with the motive of Ostara (similar to Easter). I designed a representation of Spring in the body of a small child, frolicking in the deeps of the forest. I present her illustrations always accompanied by a poem. The colour palette for Spring. They are made to relate to three elements: the earth and its core, the trees and their bark, and the leaves and bushes of the forest.

RIZANDO EL RIZO

Animations (December 2024)

For this university animation project, I created a series of GIF animations detailing my struggles with managing my black hair without knowing how to care for it. The animations were included in an ebook, where each GIF captures moments of frustration and discovery in my hair care journey.

The bright colors give the story a fun, lively feel, making it engaging and highlighting my journey to embrace and care for my hair.

KELPIE ATTACK

Digital media - (October 2022)

My role as a concept artist intern at Scruffy Dog Creative Group has been to design and photobash semi-realistic environments, to illustrate the guest experience at seasonal attractions designed by outside companies.

This particular illustration was designed as a Halloween experience for social media. In it the guests would have found themselves going face to face with a Kelpie, a mythological creature known for drowning passerby’s.

MORGAN’S

Digital illustration (November 2024)

I created artwork for Morgan’s, a Mexican restaurant, to help online customers prepare a michelada and nachos at home using the ingredients included in their orders. The visuals feature clear, step-by-step illustrations, guiding customers through the process of making these dishes.

The goal was to make the experience simple and fun, bringing the flavors of Morgan’s directly to customers’ homes.

MO DAO ZU SHI

Illustrations (March 2024- April 2024)

Fan art developed from the chinese soft novel Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu. As an avide reader, I felt drawn to the cultivation world the authour depicts.

Started as a personal project to develop further my illustrating abilities.

The deep exploration of themes such as friendship, loyalty, and sacrifice, combined with its thrilling action scenes, make it a truly unforgettable experience.

ONe LIFE

Illustrations (March 2023- April 2023)

This artwork was commissioned by the author, Axel Beiner. He specified the theme he wished for the cover and the inside illustrations. He asked for an eye catching cover that could be made into a series.

All the drawings were created using digital tools, providing me with complete creative freedom and autonomy.

BLACK LIVES MATTER

Digital illustrations’ set (June 2020)

During Pride 2020, I created a series of drawings based on prompts. I combined them with BLM information and activism. The drawing on the left was in remembrance of the Pulse bar massacre and the death of two transgender BME girls, Dominique and Riah. I used the moon and the rising tide to reference femininity.

The next page drawing was inspired by the poem Invictus, by William Ernest Henley: “In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed.”

HAUNTING GAME

Concept art for game (September - October 2024)

For this university project, I designed concepts for a 2D video game where the player controls an eyeball. The game features three backgrounds—cemetery, catacombs, and haunted castle—and the eyeball character, which can roll and jump.

The project focuses on creating an eerie atmosphere with simple movements for both characters and backgrounds.

AUTUMN DECAY

Illustration (October 2024)

This piece, created for an art competition, reflects how even in decay, nature remains beautiful. I used mostly red to show the warmth of fall, with touches of blue and grey to represent the season’s quiet decline.

This piece expresses my fascination with the contrast between life and death in nature.

THE HILL WE CLIMB

llustrations (February 2021 - April 2021)

This is a collaboration with Marissa García (a graphic designer) for an illustrated reading of “The Hill We Climb” by U.S. poet laureate, Amanda Gorman. A bundle of 30 illustrations accompany the video and emphasise each stanza. The color palette for the projects was chosen with the input of both participants.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL

Illustration (December 2020)

This is an artwork created with the motive of Yule, or Christmas.

As per the story by Charles Dickens, I represented the Ghost of Yesteryear’s Christmas as the Maiden: referenced from pagan culture on Hecate, the triple goddess.

I also developed other concepts for the Ghosts of Present and Future Christmas, portraying them as the Matron and the Crone, respectively.

JELLYFISH MERMAID

Illustration (May 2024)

Ilustration made for Mermay evolved into a personal project, serving as a platform to explore and experiment with various illustrating techniques. What began as a simple participation in the Mermay challenge blossomed into a journey of artistic discovery and growth.

Jellyfish are made up of 95% water, which gives them a ghostly, almost transparent appearance as they glide gracefully through the ocean currents.
