Preparing for Prep - Parent Information

Logistics

● The school day:

○ Learning starts at 8:30am

○ Munch n Crunch - approximately 10:00am

○ Lunch: 11:50 - 12:40 (eating time 11:40 to 12:00)

○ Recess: 2:10 - 2:30 (eating time in class before or after recess play)

○ Dismissal at 3:20pm

● What to pack each day:

○ Munch n Crunch - cut up fruit or vegetables (no yoghurt or sweets)

○ Lunch - Easy to eat packed lunch eg sandwiches, cut fruit or vegetables, noodles/pasta, yoghurt

○ Recess - light snack eg. savoury biscuits, fruit, vegetables

○ Water bottle filled with water (no sweet drinks)

○ School hat

● Drop off and pick up:

○ Day one drop off at the classroom

○ Bus students arrive at the bus bay (Gate 2) - support is provided in the first few weeks to walk from the bus bay to the Green on level 2 NB: bus students must wear a bus vest.

○ Day two drop off at the Green (level 2)

● Day one:

○ Wear the formal school uniform

○ Pack - school hat, drink bottle, munch n crunch, lunch and recess

Communication

● Fortnightly announcements and student portfolio work will be sent to parents via the Toddle App. A personalised code will be provided by the classroom teacher during the first week of school.

Uniform & accessories

● Formal school uniform, including socks, black shoes, and hair ties/accessories

● Physical Education (PE) uniform - to be worn twice per week on PE day.

● Gross motor uniform - your child will be allocated a Sporting House which will determine their House shirt colour

● AIS Hat

● Library bag

Things to practise in the holiday break

● Going to bed early (having at least 8 hours sleep)

● Independent skills/tasks:

○ Writing own name

○ Packing and unpacking a school bag

○ Opening and closing snack containers

○ Independently dressing eg. putting shoes on, doing up buttons etc.

Information

Further information will be shared during the Parent Information Evening during Week 1, 2026. This will be an in-person session led by your child’s teacher During the presentation, detailed information will be shared about:

● Weekly timetables

● Daily routines

● Teaching and learning across the subjects

● Communication and reporting

There will also be time for Q&A towards the end of the presentation.
