What you can expect in 2017

Editorial 2016 – a year that breaks records We are happy to announce, together with many of our TOSHIBA air-conditioning and heat pump partners, the biggest economic success since the foundation of our company. A sincere THANK YOU to all, who made such a result possible.

The feedback of our partners during the last events, like the Convention in Montenegro or the Chillventa fair as well as from various meetings was overwhelmingly positive. I am very pleased to report that our partners are not only successful but also highly satisfied AIRCOND partners.

Also next year is promising. 2017 is going to be a special year – an important birthday, the company’s foundation, is being celebrated.

The whole Marketing and Pre-Sales team is already intensively engaged with the upcoming year 2017. A new team, new ideas, new directions. Be curious!

Concluding and returning back to the outmost intense, turbulent and successful year 2016, I would like to express my thanks, next to our partners, to all AIR-COND employees, our supplier TOSHIBA as well as all companies which support us in various areas. All together made the year 2016 the most successful one in AIR-COND’s history.

New Tools Have you already tried it? In the partner area on our website you can find three new buttons.

The SEER/SCOP Calculator is available for all TOSHIBA systems. It displays energy efficiency values as well as the expected yearly operation costs of the system. In order to determine the values, the calculator only needs three input values: the kind of system (VRF 2-pipe, 3-pipe, etc.), the chosen models as well as the local energy costs per kWh. The load profile is adaptable to the required application via a dropdown menu.

Profiles for banks, offices, homes or shops are pre-defined. Additionally to the Eurovent calculation factors, it is also possible to create an individual load profile.

The second tool is called RAV DI & SDI Calculator. This tool provides guidance in selecting the right TOSHIBA split System. It does not matter whether you need the heat pump for adequate heating at minus 10 °C outdoor temperature or 70 m pipe length. Possibly you need low fan speed or you need to know the air outlet temperature? Instead of calculating by means of rule of thumb or a safety factor, this software tool ensures that you use the right system for each application. This tool should support designers and installers in order to choose the right capacity size professionally and securely. Especially valuable is the output of the sensible capacity for server room applications.

The third calculation tool, the RAV Refrigerant Calculator makes your life easier if you want to determine the charge amount of the refrigerant for RAV Digital and Super Digital Inverter with single, twin, triple or double-twin systems. Instead of working with formulas, this tool offers a secure solution for all possible combinations. Additionally, also the technical validity of the total and split piping lengths is being checked.

In summary, you have three new reliable and easy to use tools, which will strongly support your sales and technical team.

Tender Generator Have you already seen the green button on our partner website? Behind this button with the Excel symbol there is the new tender generator tool. This test tool is currently available in Austria and Croatia.

Those of you who had to copy & paste each single data line for all products for an offer, have a reason to be curious: easy selection of units by means of pictures and without the need to state time-consuming project data. You receive very quickly an excel export with the complete tender texts and necessary

data. Due to the well-structured segmentation into cells it is very quick and easy to adapt the tender and for example to a condensed version of an offer.

The generator works with all indoor and outdoor units as well as controls for which a tender text is available.

With a final click on the button “generate Excel”, the finished document is opened in your browser.

Of course, it is also possible to edit a tender project on a later occasion.

Simplify your life! What do you think about it?

This is how it works: Create a new tender, choose segment and products, correct individual quantities, add additional units or delete redundant products.

Suzumi Plus R32 Both topics F-Gas Regulation and the new refrigerant R32 will keep us busy over the coming year. For the Home-/ RAS-Segment we warmly welcome TOSHIBA’s strategy: the popular Suzumi units are produced with the well-known refrigerant R410A until the end of 2018.

Simultaneously, the new Suzumi R32 is introduced in the second quarter of 2017.

Each technical turnaround should be

introduced in a dignified way with innovations and new ideas. Exactly this, the new Suzumi generation will offer: a completely new design of the indoor unit – similar to MIRAI but still independent.

An elegant horizontal slot in the front panel, as well as smoothly integrated LEDs distinguish this high wall unit easily from the rest of the competitors in the mid-class tier.

60x60 Slim Cassette For the second quarter, we expect a new compact 4-way cassette for RAV and VRF which will be technically renewed and in a new design.

What is there to be improved for a 60x60 cassette? It is an indoor unit with the aim to fit harmoniously into a eurogrid ceiling panel. Still TOSHIBA’s engineers found a potential for improvement in order to distinguish themselves from the market. The new panel is only 62x62 cm. This means that the rim of the panel concludes exactly with the grid bar and therefore the optic is improved significantly. Also, the technical inner parts follow with additional optimizations: self-cleaning and 360° Airflow are standard. A special motion sensor is optionally available which guarantees absolutely draught-free comfort. In combination with the VRF-outdoor units of

the -e series and the new RBC-AMS54 wired remote control additional comfort features, such as Dual Setpoint and Soft Cooling, will be added.

In the course of the year 2017 this new, improved compact cassette will also be available for the home sector, the product segment RAS Multi.

High energy-efficiency is self-explaining.

As unique features the “Smart Airflow” and die “WIFI ready” option can be stated.

Combining environmental protection, design and effectivity at a high level, was more than accomplished.

SHRM-e: 3-pipe technology on a new level After the successful market introduction of the SMMS-e 2-pipe system last year, TOSHIBA projects its innovative drive also on the 3-pipe system for simultaneous heating and cooling.

Many new features and improvements are included in the new VRF outdoor units of the new SHRM-e product series.

Highest quality and reliability For example, you can find an optimized compressor with dual vane technology and “diamond-like” carbon coating, process-optimized interconnection of the divided heat exchanger, a dedicated oil management system and the advantages of Continuous Heating in the new SHRM-e. Especially the comfort of Continuous Heating has become indispensable. In case a building is being heated monovalent, Continuous Heating ensures that an interruption of the heating does not occur during the necessary defrosting phases of the outdoor units.

Naturally, the established 100% inverter-controlled twin-rotary compressors with their high reliability and failsafe performance will remain unchanged.

New features for even more flexibility in system design and installation Furthermore, the new SHRM-e series offers many exclusive features: new 4- and 6-port multi flowboxes enable a high flexibility for the system design and installation. Additional gains in efficiency are realized due to undercooling of the refrigerant. Additionally, the system achieves a considerable improvement of the maximum pipe lengths up to 1.000 meters.

Moreover, there are numerous comfort features which can be emphasized. For example, a new remote control enables useful functions such as the Dual Setpoint which ensures a precise temperature setting for heating and cooling. With the Individual On/Off Control, indoor units can be controlled and switched on/off individually in every room according to the demand.

Aspects of preventive safety are also being considered with a Refrigerant Leak Indicator, a tool to detect a leakage.

ESEER up to 8.17

The Wave Tool which allows an uncomplicated wireless communication with the outdoor unit, is highly appreciated among service personnel. Relevant engine, addressing or error data can easily be read out and processed via a NFC-capable Android smartphone.

Impressive energy efficiency values Last but not least the new product series delivers incredible energy efficiency values of ESEER above 8.0 for all, as well as a SCOP above 5.0 for most product sizes which reinforce the efficient performance of the system. The TOSHIBA “e-philosophy” with excellence, expansion and enhancement has once more started a new era.

Budva, Montenegro welcomes TOSHIBA! From 19th until 21st September, we were guests in Montenegro, the smallest distribution area of AIR-COND. During this TOSHIBA Convention we informed our export partners about product news for 2017 and presented some new Sales Tools, the SEER/SCOP Calculator, the RAV DI & SDI Calculator as well as the RAV Refrigerant Calculator. Furthermore, new ideas in the area of marketing were introduced.

Montenegro has a lot to offer, culinary as well as culturally, which we must not miss. Porto Montenegro inspires with luxury yachts and the hotel Regent, which is equipped with TOSHIBA air-conditioning units, whereas the bay of Kotor impresses with ancient buildings.

A gala dinner with classical music turned the last evening into a successful conclusion. Thank you to all participants for this great event!

Japan - a journey to the home of TOSHIBA As highlight of this sensational season we were happy to invite 35 guests of our top 14 export partners in October to Japan, the homeland of TOSHIBA. After one day in the vibrant metropolis of Tokyo, where we could visit, amongst skyscrapers, much of traditional Japanese culture and a huge variety of Japanese cuisine, we took the Shinkansen train with more than 270 km/h to Fuji. At the foot of the Mount Fuji there is not only one of TOSHIBA’s production sites, but also a huge research and development department.

In the showroom AIRS the highlights of TOSHIBA’s developments could be viewed.

The next day we spent in the headquarters of TCC (TOSHIBA Carrier Corporation) in Kawasaki. In this modern building, additionally to the offices of TCC, the TOSHIBA Science Museum is located, where milestones of technology, in which TOSHIBA has had a decisive influence, are exhibited. – Innovations of old days, nowadays and the ones which will shape the future.

Filled with impressions of a fascinating country, an interesting culture and the technology leader TOSHIBA, which products we work with on a daily basis, we returned back to Europe.

Looking ahead 2017 is going to be a particular year for all AIR-COND & TOSHIBA partners – AIR-COND’s company anniversary is being celebrated.

Dipl.-Ing. Werner Hochegger founded AIRCOND in September 1977. He started with a small but excellent air-conditioning program in Austria. First steps into export markets were undertaken in the year 1990.

Therefore, we celebrate 40 years of AIR-COND next year and we will plan something special.

Let yourself be surprised!

“I am very proud that many partners of that time are still among our partners!”, reports Jürgen Unterrainer, CEO, enthusiastically.

Several of those are going to celebrate their 20, 25 and 30th anniversary next year.

TOSHI-Bear is thinking about...

The days get shorter, the sun becomes a rare guest and the weather is cold and humid. Normally, this is the time where the air-conditioning branch is coming to rest after a strenuous season. Similar to bears who look forward to hibernation.

After this chaotic season, however, the whole TOSHIBA family cannot think about relaxation. On the contrary, tireless the work is continued, worked off and pushed forward.

The energies are being bundled for preparations for next season. Our departments are hard-working in order to offer you the known service and of course to improve ourselves, to offer you even more tools.

Of course, we are grateful to finish the most successful year of AIRCOND during our 39-year-old history. However, we are aware that even more effort is needed to make 2017 equally successful.

Everything new?

Not everything, but a lot… In 2017 you can expect a lot of new developments.

One major change regards the catalogues for next year which will be redesigned as well as organized in a new manner. The currently existing catalogue structure of eight catalogues is reduced to three compact catalogues.

The catalogue Home Solutions is targeted at end consumers and should present TOSHIBA’s product portfolio that is suitable for family houses and home applications. These include, besides our

known air-conditioning split systems, also the appropriate controls plus the ESTIA air-to-water heat pumps.

In the Business Solutions Catalogue planers, architects, building contractors, business end consumers, etc. should get an overview about the bandwidth of TOSHIBA’s possibilities. In this catalogue, all RAV, VRF, Air to Air solutions as well as suitable control options are included.

Intended as working document for our partners and as sales material, the third catalogue was designed.

Auch eine zu hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit beeinträchtigt unsere Konzentrationsfähigkeit. Eine Klimatisierung und Luftentfeuchtung steigert Ihr Wohlgefühl erheblich.

Niedriger Stromverbrauch Ein Klimagerät kostet nicht mehr als ein guter Fernseher.

Bei Nutzung eines Standardgeräts ergibt sich ein sehr geringer jährlicher Mehraufwand, der in der Größenordnung eines Abendessens für zwei liegt. Ist Ihnen Ihr Wohlbefinden das wert?

HÖCHSTE EFFIZIENZ Beste Wirkungsgrade bei minimalen Betriebskosten sind TOSHIBA besonders wichtig. Bei den standardisierten Bewertungs-Maßstäben zur Effizienz von Klimaanlagen liegen die Geräte deshalb weit vorne.

Standardisierte Effizienz Die Effizienzkriterien SEER bzw. ESEER (European Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) und SCOP (Seasonal Coefficient of Performance) beschreiben das Verhältnis von nutzbarer Kühl- bzw. Heizleistung zur eingesetzten elektrischen Leistung. Die Leistungsmessung findet an vier unterschiedlichen Außentemperaturen statt. Durch die extrem hohe Effizienz im Teillastbetrieb können TOSHIBA-Geräte mit besten Werten glänzen.

Business Solutions Mit der Berücksichtigung unterschiedlicher Außentemperaturen fließt nun der Teillastbetrieb mit mehr als 90% in die Bewertung mit ein – und hier kann TOSHIBA’s Inverter-Technologie in Verbindung mit den Doppel-Rollkolbenkompressoren ihre Vorteile so richtig ausspielen. COP Der COP (Coefficient Of Performance) benennt die Energie-Effizienz eines Gerätes im HEIZBETRIEB als Verhältnis. COP 4,0 bedeutet z.B., dass aus 1 kW Strom 4 kW Heizleistung generiert werden. Gemessen wird hier bei einer, von Eurovent definierten, Außentemperatur.



SCOP

EER und SEER

Im SCOP (Seasonal Coefficient Of Performance) ist der Jahresverlauf mit zusätzlichen Messungen berücksichtigt. Die Außentemperaturen liegen hier bei +12, +7, +2 und –7 °C für den Heizbetrieb.

Ähnlich verhält es sich mit dem EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio) und dem SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) Wert für den KÜHLBETRIEB: auch hier werden saisonale Faktoren in Form von zusätzlichen Messpunkten berücksichtigt. Sie liegen bei +20, +25, +30 und +35 °C.



ESEER VRF-Systeme werden heute zumeist nach ihrem ESEER (European SEER) Wert beurteilt: hier werden EER-Teillast-Faktoren verwendet. Dafür gibt es eine Formel – sie bildet die Summe von vier Einzelwerten mit unterschiedlichen Gewichtungen.

Chillventa The impressive German TOSHIBA fair presentation offered, besides hospitality, much room for inspiring discussions and presented two product novelties for 2017: the new ESTIA Monobloc as well as the slim 60x60 cassette. We were pleased to see so many of our partners and to “chill” with them professionally and amicably.

Website Parallelly to the catalogues also the website is being re-designed. The aim is to contact customers anywhere with the same look and feel and to increase the brand awareness of TOSHIBA. Get ready for it! We are looking forward to the first clicks on our new website, which is going live in spring 2017.
