Sunken Forest reopens in Amelia Island Plantation

Closed for more than six years, Sunken Forest has been restored to its former glory, including 500 feet of upgraded boardwalk.The new entry is more handicapped accessible, leading to two platforms where one can sit and take in the unique maritime forest.

Platforms offer beach views

Steps rise to the upper observation platforms where visitors may enjoy spectacular views of our beautiful beach.

The entrance to Sunken Forest is on BeachWood Road between the Omni Resort and Sandcastles condominiums. It will have the usual park hours of sunrise to sunset. Over time, educational opportunities will be added, via signage and the mobile app.

Previous Common Properties Committee Chair Carol Simon, who oversaw the Sunken Forest project, current Chair Bob Stichweh, and President Jeff Packer at the reopening ceremony February 22.

Get ready for lots of cars on and off the road

The second weekend in March is one of the highest traffic times of the year on the south end of Amelia Island as car lovers come to participate in a variety of automobile shows and auctions.

Expect traffic congestion at the David Gregory Gate (next to Racquet Park)

Thursday & Friday, March 8-9, and the Main Gate Friday & Saturday, March 9-10.

Plan your route & consider your options, including using the Dunes Club Gate and accessing the westside of the community via the Cooper Bridge.

Please be patient in traffic.

Entry for the PorscheWerks Reunion

Friday March 9 will be through the gates at Don NealWay (opposite Racquet Park) and Ron KolarWay (opposite the Main Gate). Nassau County Sheriff's Office and AIPCA Security officers will monitor entry. Entry for the Festivals of Speed Saturday March 10 will be through the Commercial Gate.

Neighbors Night Out January 15

Save the dates for Neighbors Night Out

Neighbors Night Out is the third Monday of every other month (through September) at the Property Owners Club, 203 Sea Marsh Road.

Remaining dates are May 21, July 16, and September 17.

Doors open at 5:30 pm. Ice-breaker activity starts promptly at 5:45 pm. Dinner buffet catered byThe Ocean Club of Amelia opens at 6:30. Bring your own alcoholic beverages and mixers if desired.

$30 per adult; $15 per child 12 and under. Payment via cash or check payable to AIPCA only; no Amelia Island Club or credit cards accepted.

Seating is limited for Neighbors Night Out. Reservations and cancellations to nightout@aipca.net by theThursday before the event.
