INTERNSHIPS

In ern Daf er Green Rubano & Associates 2025 - Present Harlngen TX I use Revit and AutoCAD to draft brace pro ies, framing de ais, and founda ion plans I also upda e drawings based on redlnes and assist engneers n keeping al pans accurate and wel-organzed

AtGRA Eng neering I worked atmydraftingstation creat ng and updating structural plans using AutoCAD andRevit. I focused on precision, clean linework, and organiz ng drawings to meet off ce standards A major part of my workflow involved reviewing and applying engineer redlines, which helped me understand structural notation, improve accuracy, and strengthen the overall quality of the final drawings

Project 1 — The Tree Hut

Nestled between Burns Elementary School and Beacon Building Products, the Alton Gloor Trail serves as both a natural corridor and a source of inspiration for architectural design The surrounding landscape dense with locally grown trees shaped the vision for the structure, echoing the form and texture of traditional huts rooted in the environment The roof will be crafted from wood, a material sourced from the area tself, reinforcing a sense of connection between the structure and its surroundings
Drawing from the architectural language of the Halle du Conservatoire des Mécan ques, the design features an expressive overhanging roof The use of a butterfly roof and layered wooden trusses throughout the bu lding further enhances this dynamic yet grounded form Another key influence was the Covered Bridge on Aqueduct, whose blend of wood and aluminum panels harmonizes beautifully with the natural landscape Echoing this, the design incorporates laser-cut panels intended to mimic the exper ence of standing beneath a canopy of trees where sunlight filters through, casting ever-changing, dappled patterns of leaves across thespace.

Project 2

Project 2.2 Scorpion Point — TSC Campus Model

My project is a scorpion-themed clock tower designed to replace the old TSC water tower. The bottom of the tower works as a pavilion with open arches, creating a shaded space for students to gather Above, the tower r ses with large clock faces that are visible across campus I included the scorpion logo to highl ght Texas Southmost College’s pr de and identity, making the design both symbolic and practical. The clock tower w ll serve as a functional timekeeper, a pavilion for community use, and a landmark that represents TSC’s strength and spir t.

For this project, we created a 3D Rhino model of the TSC campus that could be used for 3D printing. The buildings had to be “waterproof,” meaning no gaps, no loose surfaces, and solid interiors. We didn’t model any interior walls— just the main building forms with simple window and door indentations. I used Google Earth to estimate measurements and made educated guesses for heights, usually 10–15 feet per floor plus a 3-foot parapet The goal was a clean, accurate-looking mass model that could be used for renders and exported for site plans, elevations, and sections.

Project Description

For this project, I had todesign a coffee shop in Brownsville, Texas and pick a commercial site that was at least 50’x100’. I had to justify my location by doing a site analysis and mapping out the other coffee shops in the area to find a spot with less competition, good visibility, and easy access. I also had to include a secondary function in the design, but still make sure the building read as a coffee shop first. The whole idea focused on “coffee culture,” so I designed a space where people could relax, study, and enjoy their time instead of feeling rushed.

I also had to create a full program that included a kitchen, cashier area, seating, ADA accessibility, bathrooms, storage, an office, a mechanical room, and a parking layout that followed code. The project required testing different ideas through several models before reaching the final design

Personal Statement

This portfolio representsthe work I completedin Graphics I and the progress I made as a designer this semester. Each project taught me something different about drawings, modeling, and how to communicate ideas clearly. In Project 1, the Alton Gloor Trail Roof, I learned how to study structure and form while keeping my drawings clean and organized. Project 2, the TSC Campus Model, pushed me to think in three dimensions and understand how accuracy, massing, and modeling techniques affect a final printed form.

Project 3, the Resaca Residential Home, helped me understand residential programming, room relationships, and how a design responds to a site. I had to focus on realistic dimensions, circulation, and presenting a full set of drawings. Project 4, the Coffee Shop, was the most detailed project and taught me how to work with a commercial program, site analysis, ADA, parking, diagrams, and final renders. It also strengthened my presentation style and my ability to explain design decisions. Overall, these projects helped me grow in modeling, drafting, rendering, and layout skills. They represent my improvement this semester and the foundation I’m building as I continue toward

becoming a licensed architect.
