Gree ngs from IGIP AIESEC in Universitas Andalas Hello OGIP AIESEC Around the World.

Finally we can start our ďŹ rst quarter of this term. We never stop to give chance to young people around the world to shape their professional skill, gain their cultural understanding, and fulďŹ ll their poten al. And we are so excited to star this term by welcoming more young people for all around the world to give posi ve impact and share their knowledge to our society through professional internship.

AIESEC UNAND has the uniqueness compared than other LC. We stand for FAMILY Culture because of the society in our city, we need to adapt it with our ac vi es in AIESEC, and that is the things that make it more interes ng. I believe, this thing will give some challenging and huge support system for the Intern itself.

The purpose of IR Newsle er is to establish a communica on channel between your LC's EPs and our LC's Opportuni es.

arrival to padang Alfonso Fernandez - Spain On the 16th of July, I finally arrived to my des na on: Padang, a er a journey longer than expected and with some trouble in the flight connec ons. But yes, I could finally say that I had arrived.

At the airport my gentle host brother for the next six weeks was wai ng for me. His cousin and another AIESEC member were standing with him. The first impression that comes to your mind when you get off the aircra is the humidity. It is higher than you might have imagined and soon you will no ce that your body starts to sweat.

It will take a long me for your body to get used to it. In fact, a er a whole week in Indonesia, I am s ll swea ng 24/7.

A few hours later, I was established in what was going to be my house for 6 weeks. I was introduced to the family and then driven to the city centre to have something to eat.This was my first glance to a totally new different city, Padang. It has its unique combina on of Asian and Muslim cultures. Two different cultures that I had never experienced together. On top of this, you can also feel in midated by traffic chaos that rules the roads. Although soon you realise that some mes the mess cons tutes the best orders of all. Nevertheless, what I am most amazed about this city is how easily I always find green spaces.

No ma er where I am, there is always some corner where I can see a tree, grass or fields of rice.

I will not talk about the nega ve points, which certainly there are. But instead I would rather comment the tons of things that I have learned and experienced throughout the week that I have been here for.

First of all, the feeling of a Hollywood star at every step you make many people shout out “Hi!” when passing by or simply stare at you as if you were famous. Like it or not, it looks like differences are different in the end. Also, I have almost forgo en the loafs of bread from my country, nothing is eaten with bread in Indonesia. At least, I have to say that I am not a bread lover either. And finally, what really surprised me when I had my first meal is the amount of hot spices that every single meal is made with. I thought Mexico was the king of spicy food but I realised Padang can be a decent rival. These have been my first days in Padang, I am only looking forward to the next ones.

My first impression of Indonesia was that it was extremely hot. I was completely unprepared and wasn’t aware that women must wear long pants so I arrived at the airport with shorts on. But a er adap ng, I learned to accept it. Some days are cool so it is very manageable. I arrived on a Tuesday and I spent the first 4 days working.

I really like my coworkers because they are sociable and extremely welcoming.

We all have similari es because we’re all engineers. I love the engineering community and how we all get along together well.

The ďŹ rst place I went to Padang Mountain and Padang Beach. The view from Padang Mountain was phenomenal especially in the morning.

We even got to feed the monkeys at the top.

The AIESEC community here is very unique.

Everyone is social and will always welcome you.

I feel mo vated to par cipate in new things because of the AIESEC members. I have also been to Air Manis, Pariaman's Turtle Beach, and Buki nggi. I thoroughly enjoyed all the places that I have been to so far and I look forward to going to Talang Mountain this weekend.

However, I made the strongest bond with my roommate and host sister, Yumni. The people around you inuence your experiences and I'm so glad that I have Yumni. We have similar interests and personali es, which made it so easy for us to get along. We're both adventurous but cau ous at the same me.

I ďŹ nd that in many situa ons, we are thinking of the same things and she'll always know what I'm thinking. She respects my personal space and gives me room to breathe, but at the same me, she'll always be there to help me. In addi on, she gives me really good advice when I ask for it. I can depend on her to be there. It is hard to fully explain how I feel about Yumni because there is so much to talk about. So far, I have been here for over 2 weeks and I already love it and I don't want to leave in 4 weeks.

I guess my family wants me to stay here, that’s why they married me o :)

Ukraine

ne of my rules in life is not to expect anything in order to not to be disappointed.

Actually I followed this rule while preparing for the trip, but anyway I imagined something, I hoped for something.

And I can say that everything here is really over my expecta ons.

I am lucky one, because my family is best host family ever and it is not because our house is located in the center which is also a good point but I do feel connec ons with all members of the family. Mom doesn't speak English well but somehow we can find common language and we understand one another even without a dic onary. I really miss my sister Rossy because she le for Kyrgyzstan last week, my adek Maya is very caring, understanding and trustworthy as well. A father always asks me whether I am hungry and where I go so I feel his care. I feel that they all worry about me but give freedom and I appreciate it.

AIESEC team is something amazing, huge, powerful and suppor ng.

I wish I had been an AIESECer before because it is very cool.

I am also a li le bit upset because it`s my first internship so I had wasted a lot of me!!! I love everybody here and always want to hug Wherever we go AIESECers accompany us and I know how difficult it can be when you have to study, finish all your projects and spend me with interns. So they do great job! We`ve already visited many places and had much fun!

I have already had 4 classes, impressed by my students how ambi ous and intelligent they are. Hope that I will able to give them everything that I can. Teacher staff is also very friendly and caring. Some mes mam Mela feeds me and this is so kind of her.

Very happy to be here in this place with such nice people!

from barcelona to padang Danil Ramos - Spain

Although, the travel started in 6 of July and I spent a day to arrive to Padang. Was so nice that I got a good recep on in the airport and since that my adventure begun.

While we were going to my host home to meet my new family I was surprise by all environments. In that month I learned that the style of life of Sumatra is so opposite of Europe, and I'm ge ng used to all of this change like for example the bathroom or Padang diet that is so hot spicy for me.

Therefore, during the next weeks I spent my holidays with my hos amily and AIESEC group, and every day was fabulous because every me we were discovering all the corners, monuments and place of this city and surroundings. We were on Gurung Padang a mountain with monkeys, in the Big Mosque called “Masjid Raya Sumatera Barat”, we went to Pariaman to find out Angso Duo, we enjoyed in a pical karaoke that was new for me, of course we did surf in Air Manis beach.

Besides, I'm lucky to have this host family because since the ďŹ rst day, they adopt me as a new soon and they are taking care and they try to do every day here be er. They are showing me some incredible places like Solok City where are thermal hot waters that came to the mountain. It was funny because they aren't used to take hotshowers and to enter to them is hard, but for me was nice because was the same degree that I choose in me usual showers in Barcelona. Also, I'm proud to have Ega and Farji because they are with me every me and they become a good real friends in short me.

I suggest everyone that if you have me come here, because is an incredible experience.
