What is AIESEC AIESEC is a global platform for young people to develop their leadership potential through international internships and volunteer opportunities. Founded in 1948, AIESEC is a nongovernmental, and not-for-profit organization entirely run by youth for youth.
Thirty-seven years have been passed since AIESEC in Indonesia was initiated in 1984. We serve as a youth-run organization in Indonesia to improve this country and, eventually, the world. Like any other AIESEC in the world, AIESEC in Indonesia strives to achieve the Fulfillment of Humankind's Potential. Moreover, we want to develop youth in Indonesia in their leadership skills and eventually become the excellent ambassador of Indonesia in which they make it their home. In 2021, the second year after COVID-19 first struck Indonesia, the trend in our society changes. Moreover, it affects not only society but also the youth in it. Thus, it is more important than ever to find the thing that the current youth, the ones who will continue the torch we have as a big nation, are interested in. To listen to what they envision, what they like, and what they believe in developing themselves and their surroundings at the end of the day. With more than 1000 youth participating in this survey, we believe this survey's results perfectly depict what we see in the current youth in Indonesia. After this, the work is not only within AIESEC, but we encourage you, your surrounding, your organization, or your company to also take part and have actions for the betterment of Indonesia. The reason might also be related to how Gen Z sees that the government should solve the problems rather than business or individuals. The understanding of leadership by the young generation seems to be directed to the form where a leader is leading the team member. It leads to them creating a perspective about a leader who needs to have members to be a leader.
