Dolce & Gabbana
Dolce & Gabbana, often abbreviated as D&G, is a renowned Italian luxury fashion brand that has left an indelible mark on the global fashion industry. Founded by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana in 1985, the brand has become synonymous with opulent designs, impeccable craftsmanship, and a distinct Italian aesthetic.”
Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring 2024 collection was the embodiment of Old Hollywood glamour and risqué looks. A majority of the silhouettes hugged the body and included lingerie pieces such as the bustle. The most distinct design feature was the use of the bullet bra, characteristic of the 1950's. The sheen of the dresses and heavy fur coats created a sense of nostalgic opulence, while Dolce & Gabbana infused their brand’s character through the floral prints and clean-cut all black looks.

Versace
“Gianni Maria Versace was an Italian fashion designer, especially known for his bold style and flashy designs... Going against the prevailing trend of muted colors and simplistic designs, he began using bright colors, bold prints, and sexy cuts. Very soon, he also started using unusual materials like aluminum mesh and innovative skills like laser technology to fuse leather and rubber, becoming an international celebrity within a short span of time.”
Gianni died July 15, 1997. The brand has been passed down to his sister, Donatella Versaci.
The spring 2025 collection was inspired by Versace’s 1997 Versus show, particularly by using clashing prints and patterns in an energizing manner. The collection had more of a youthful and sweet feel to it, with its pastels, knitwear, denim, and shorts, untypical of Versace’s characteristic image. In contrast to the Versus collection, Donatella utilized much more subtle colors, as well as 3-D printing. Overall, Donatella excelled in combining in creating variety while also maintaining uniformity, as the colors and pattern in each look blend together to create copiously satisfying results.

Versace Spring 2025

Carolina Herrera
“Carolina Herrera's designs offer a certain chic, well-heeled style, with a classic feminine sensibility, for her devoted base of women clients. The Venezuelan-born couturier, who led a life chronicled in the pages of fashion magazines well before her first dress went out on a runway, created suits, sportswear, formal gowns, and all manner of accoutrements in the mid- to stratospheric price range, and her business is one of the most prosperous in the industry.”
Herrara stepped down in 2019, handing over the brand to Wes Gordon
The spring 2025 collection embodied classic femineity, mixing eveningwear, office wear, and casual looks. The color palette was very characteristic of spring, along with the rosettes and floral prints. Waist cinching and bodyhugging silhouettes were consistent throughout the entire show. Overall, the collection was quite characteristic of Herrera’s elegant and romantic design aesthetic, while possessing a sense of playfulness.

Ralph Lauren

Taking inspiration from New England’s rusticity, the West’s natural beauty, and Hollywood’s glamour, his collections for men and women, their children and homes embody an expression of timeless style recognized and celebrated around the world.”
The Summer 2025 collection was a blend of all of Lauren’s characteristic design aesthetics. Firstly, Americana was demonstrated through the casual looks, heavy use of denim, and sportswear inspired accessories. Nautical was demonstrated through the shades of blue, loose silhouettes, neutral knitwear, and lightweight materials. Western was demonstrated through the use of light browns and fringe. Lastly, Old Money was demonstrated through the use of calm colors and formal looks such as tuxedos and evening gowns.

Marni
“Marni, an Italian luxury fashion brand, was founded in 1994 by Swiss-born designer Consuelo Castiglioni and her husband Gianni Castiglioni. Consuelo, known for her eclectic and artistic style, infused a distinct aesthetic into the brand's DNA, which would set Marni apart in the fashion industry... The brand's visionary approach embraced the beauty of imperfection, creating garments that celebrated individuality and self-expression.”
Consuela and Gianni stepped down in 2016 and Francesco Risso has been creative director since.
The summer 2025 collection was heavily inspired by Lewis Carol’s Alice in Wonderland, with its rose prints and mystical styles. Risso wanted to create a gradual progression in the presentation of his daywear and eveningwear looks. He began with the slender silhouettes and lighter colors, presenting looks using leggings, blazer, and hourglass dresses. As the show continued the forms became more and more voluminous and the colors grew darker, presenting looks using tuxedo jackets and evening gowns with luscious puffed-out skirts, creating a satisfying ending to a whimsical event.

Anna Sui
“Anna Sui is one of New York’s most beloved and accomplished fashion designers, known for creating contemporary original clothing inspired by spectacular amounts of research into vintage styles and cultural arcana. Sui joined New York’s intensely creative cultural underground in the 1970s, forging important relationships in the worlds of fashion, photography, art, music, and design. Born in the suburbs of Detroit, the career of Anna Sui is a classic American success story. ‘You have to focus on your dreams, even if they go beyond common sense. How could this young girl from the suburbs of Detroit become a success in New York? It was always that dream,’ she says.”
For the spring 2025 collection, Sui took much of her inspiration from the soft look of Andy Warhol’s early commercial art. On top of this, Sui also took much of her inspiration from resorts and travel, adding a mid-century twist. Overall, the looks are incredibly youthful and feminine with a beachy feel. Giambattista Valli

His designs are an epitome of timelessness, crafted from taut fabrics and infused with vivacious colors.Unshackled by trends and embracing the present moment, Giambattista Valli, prefers to infuse his work with cultural significance.”
With the ever growing global uncertainty, the question that was constantly on Valli’s mind while crafting the Spring 2025 collection was, “How can fashion help alleviate the current worlds distress?” The conclusion that he came to was staying ground in reality, while also using beauty and lightness to tell his story. Thus, his collection was like a conversation between the ideas of reality and dream-like states, with the mix of slender and billowing forms, short hemlines and ankle-length gowns, and a color palette of crimson, dark orange, white and pastels.

LoveShackFancy
“LoveShackFancy is a global fashion, beauty, home and lifestyle brand founded by Rebecca Hessel Cohen in 2013. It was created to celebrate love and revel in the beauty of a flower-filled, rose-colored world...The LoveShackFancy aesthetic marries vintage inspiration with a fun and modern take on femininity: An overflow of pink, prints, ruffles and lace that speaks not just to romantics at heart but anyone who wants to feel beautiful and confident in their own skin.”
Cohen’s goal for LoveShackFancy’s spring 2025 collection was to create pieces suitable for her audience’s major upcoming events such as Easter, graduation, weddings, and galas. Many pieces have a very loose and Boho feel to them, while others, particularly evening gowns hug the body relatively tightly. Cohen aims to reach a wide variety of ages in her collections and this one is no different as there is not particularly a consistent theme, but the items are rather made suitable for her consumers’ lifestyles. Throughout the show, the collection maintained LoveShackFancy’s iconic fun and feminine aesthetic.

Sandy Liang
“Since launching her namesake brand in 2014, Sandy Liang has quickly become one of the buzziest names on the New York fashion scene. Boasting an impressive line-up of famous fans, including the likes of Rosalía, Jennie Kim, Ariana Grande and Bella and Gigi Hadid, her striking designs adorned with hyper-feminine motifs have become a go-to for It-girls.”
In the past few seasons, Liang has created more child-like and nostalgic designs. However, for Spring 2025 she chose to shift her focus and the Liang’s girl image to a more adult-like and corporate feel, adding more body hugging silhouettes, blazers, button-up tops, and boxy skirts. Liang still hung on to some pieces of youthfulness, with the pastels, metallic kitten heels, micro shift dresses. Overall, the collection was relatively simplistic, yet the variety of color, silhouette, and embellishments created an engaging show.

Alice + Olivia
“ Alice + Olivia founder Stacey Bendet pulls inspiration from her love of vintage and all things feminine to design clothing that juxtaposes the whimsical and flirty with the sexy and sophisticated. Ornamented fabrics, colorful prints and ultraflattering fits provide today’s modern woman with options for every day and every occasion.”
Bendet wanted the spring 2025 collection to be essentially the antithesis of minimalism. She conjured up the idea of the “Hotel of Imagination” in which she took a multitude of different prints and silhouettes to resemble different rooms. If there was anything this collection was lacking, it certainly was not variety! Despite having so many components, Bendet still achieved a cohesive look, as each room contained many of the same key pieces.
