Dear Friends of Aid for Women,
Motivated by stories from our eight pregnancy care centers and two maternity homes, and humbled by the continued support of thousands of friends like you, it is my great pleasure to share this Annual Report with you.
There is no doubt that our state continues to be one of the most pro-abortion states in the nation. According to the Lozier Institute, Illinois’ 2023 total of 72,143 abortions was the highest reported by the state since it started reporting abortion totals in 1973, and this does not include in-home, drug-induced abortions. Women are coming to Illinois from many other states to have an abortion. Plus, a teenager in Illinois cannot be given an aspirin at school without parental approval, but she can have an abortion, a medical procedure with significant health implications, without her parents ever knowing about it.
We believe that any law that devalues human life and ignores the short- and long-term medical and emotional effects of abortion on women provides us at Aid for Women with increased opportunities to fulfill our mission.
Among our highlights this year:
• We increased the number of clients we served by 24%.
• Our new pregnancy care centers in Rockford and Carbondale are achieving our goal of offering life-affirming programs and services across Illinois.
• We opened a new pregnancy care center in Oak Park, after our Cicero site closed in a reorganization at Catholic Charities.
• We continue to listen to clients and adapt our policies to communicate with them in the most effective ways possible.
• We have exciting plans to expand our presence as a go-to resource for schools and professional organizations throughout Illinois for expectant mothers who could benefit from what we offer.
Women who regret their abortions say time and again that they did not want to abort their baby, but they felt pressured to do so. Aid for Women wants every woman in that position now to know about the options that they have. And we want them to know that we genuinely care about them and their baby.

OUR MISSION
Founded in 1978 on the faith and teachings of the Catholic Church, Aid for Women helps thousands of women each year throughout Illinois who find themselves facing unexpected pregnancies. Each woman is provided with the emotional, practical and spiritual support that she needs to choose life for her unborn baby and to provide a better future for herself and her child.
ON THE ABORTION FRONT LINE
Aid for Women faced unprecedented challenges in 2024. As state legislators across the nation continued to ascertain the will of voters, the DIY abortion pill became more readily available. Over half of American abortions now occur via the abortion pill and, as a result, the “time window” for reaching abortion-vulnerable women, to let them know of the options they have, is shorter than ever before.
Fortunately, Aid for Women has had success in helping women with their Abortion Pill Reversal, when they reach out after taking the first abortion pill, regretting their decision, and wanting to try to stop the process. Our life-saving work has taken on new meaning as we respond at all hours of the day and night to women in these circumstances. Some of our most inspiring stories emerge as women realize that the baby they are carrying is alive, unique, and very special.
We also remain vigilant about the safety of our clients and staff after experiencing vandalism several times at our pregnancy care centers.
Back in 1978, our founders boldly faced many trials in establishing Aid for Women, and we continue to follow that example today.

Aid for Women helps thousands of women each year throughout Illinois who find themselves facing unexpected pregnancies. Each woman is provided with the emotional, practical and spiritual support that she needs to choose life for her unborn baby and to provide a better future for herself and her child. Our life-affirming services are offered to clients free-ofcharge and include:

Many Aid for Women clients consider abortion because they lack adequate housing or will be otherwise homeless if they choose life.
Heather’s House
Heather’s House provides a safe and nurturing home where pregnant women and their babies can live. Heather’s House offers residents an opportunity to develop the life skills, education and job skills necessary to become independent and loving mothers.
Monica’s House
Monica’s House serves as a transitional home for Heather’s House residents who have had their babies and are either going to school or working. Monica’s House provides these new mothers greater independence while they work toward completing their goals.

Aid for Women is grateful to Dr. Carl J. Johnson for establishing an endowment fund in memory of Margot A. Johnson and in honor of Mary Anne Goldberg. As of December 31, 2024, the endowment fund was valued at $933,271.
Aid for Women is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization funded by tax-deductible gifts from private donors. The 2024 statement of activities is unaudited. Audited financial statements are available upon request.
PARISH ACTION PLAN
Aid for Women offers a Parish Action Plan, under the USCCB’s Walking with Moms program, that allows parishes to support Aid for Women’s pregnancy care centers and maternity homes.
Host a Baby Shower or Diaper Drive
Aid for Women will provide a list of needed items, and parishioners can bring the items to church or order the items on our online gift registry.
Host a Gift Card Drive
Donated gift cards allow us to purchase basic items for our moms such as cribs, strollers and car seats.
Host a Food Drive
Help stock the pantries at Heather’s House and Monica’s House by providing food items and paper products.
Become a Mom Mentor
Provide one-on-one support to a mom who needs additional help.
Maternity Home Graduation
Help a mom transition from our maternity homes to her own apartment by providing basic household supplies and helping with the move.
Become a Nursery Helper
Help our moms at the maternity homes when they are feeling overwhelmed with responsibilities and need extra support.

Operating eight pregnancy clinics and two maternity homes requires substantial financial resources. Your parish can help by hosting a baby bottle drive, second collection or becoming a sponsor at our annual benefit dinner.

Pray for our moms or come join us in the celebration of Mass or a holy hour at any of our six locations where the Blessed Sacrament is reserved.

Volunteer as a BrightCourse Instructor
BrightCourse is an online tool that Aid for Women uses to help our moms learn about pregnancy and parenting. Topics include prenatal care, parenting, relationships, life skills, and more.
Volunteer as a Tutor
Many of our moms and children need additional help in pursuing their educational goals, and one-on-one tutoring can be extremely valuable.
Build a Parish Team – Build a team including a parish leader and a support network. Complete an Inventory – Complete an inventory of the parish’s resources.

Volunteers are the heart and core of Aid for Women! Without their time, talent and dedication, we could not impact the lives of so many. ROSE’S STORY
Rose found Aid for Women on the internet, called, and made an appointment for the next day. She had a child, age one, and she was pregnant. Not married and with no insurance, she was considered to be “abortion vulnerable.”
Rose asked to have her pregnancy confirmed through an ultrasound. Her Client Advocate explained details about resources that were available to her. Rose joined an Aid for Women Mom’s Support Group, obtained insurance through an Aid for Women referral and started getting regular medical care. Her son Rogelio was born August 12, 2024. She had no maternity leave and had to be back at work at the market research company she works for, just two weeks after Rogelio arrived. But she was very grateful that Rogelio was here.
Rose’s boyfriend is now a stay-at-home parent to the two children, and Rose continues to attend Aid for Women’s Mom’s Support Group sessions. Rose says, “Our family of four has been living off of one salary, which is definitely a challenge but we have been able to manage. All of us moms struggle in some way, but we do it all for these beautiful kids of ours. I am so grateful to Aid for Women. If you have faith and love surrounding you, all can be done.”

DANIELLE’S STORY
Danielle is currently serving in the U.S. Navy at the Great Lakes Naval Station. She came to us in September 2024 with her boyfriend, unsure of her plans for her pregnancy. Danielle asked to have an ultrasound, and she was delighted to see her baby’s heartbeat. Her Client Advocate also shared information about the Aid for Women services, and community programs that were available to assist them.
At home later, feeling a great deal of pressure around her, Danielle took the first Abortion Pill, then woke up the next morning deeply regretting it. She searched the internet, found the Abortion Pill Rescue (APR) network, and was able to stop her chemical abortion. When Danielle’s Aid for Women advocate followed up with her, she had started receiving regular OB/GYN medical care, and Danielle signed up for the Aid for Women BrightCourse program.
Danielle has been doing weekly lessons with her Aid for Women Client Advocate and has been very appreciative of the support she has received. She has worked hard throughout her pregnancy, continuing to deal with numerous challenges, but she can’t wait to meet her daughter. She is determined to be the best mother that she can be to her baby. She is due with her baby in May and says, “I couldn’t have gotten to this point if it wasn’t for this place. TAYLOR’S STORY
Taylor came to the Aid for Women Wheeling center in March 2025. She was two months pregnant, and unsure of what to do. She explains, “I don’t think I would ever really consider ending my pregnancy, but the lack of confidence in me and my abilities to have this baby made continuing this journey so difficult. I felt alone, scared, and unsure who would be the people to give me the encouragement I needed. Then I found Aid for Women.”
Taylor’s Client Advocate described the programs and services that Aid for Women offers, including our two maternity homes. After completing the application process, Taylor moved into Monica’s House in April. She says, “I cannot even begin to explain how much of a difference it has made in my life! Everyone is so easy to get along with, and it’s wonderful to be with other women who I can relate to. I am so happy to have the space, physically, spiritually, and emotionally, to take care of myself and my baby boy. I have been able to slowly reconnect with God through our weekly Bible studies and daily times of prayer, which has helped my heart know a new kind of peace. I know that things won’t be easy, but I also know that I’m in a home and a community where I will be loved and taken care of.”
Taylor bravely spoke at the 2025 Aid for Women Spring Luncheon. As part of her remarks she said, “Thank you for supporting the amazing work of Aid for Women, and thank you for believing in me and women like me. It’s through your prayers and generosity that our families are given the chance to become who God wants us to be.”

The services offered at Aid for Women require substantial financial and material resources. Please consider providing your support, at any level, so we may continue to help women choose life for their unborn babies and provide them with safe and nurturing homes as needed.
Here is how your monetary gift can have a real impact on the lives of the mothers and babies whom we serve. We also ask for your prayers for all those who come to us for help, that they may witness the peace and strength of God’s love and choose life for their unborn babies instead of abortion.
There are many ways you can include a gift to Aid for Women as part of your legacy and support our life-saving work for generations to come. One of the simplest ways is through a bequest in your will or trust. Naming Aid for Women as the beneficiary of a retirement account, insurance policy, or bank or brokerage account is another easy way to adjust your plans if they change in the future. Aid for Women regularly accepts gifts of appreciated securities which may offer significant tax benefits.
