12 week Project Brief

The average millennial wants to spend 5-15 minutes preparing a meal. The aim is to design a premium kitchen product that helps speed up the food preparation process.

Chopping board

Problem.

Issue of speeding up the cooking preparation process and cutting out the need to have multiple chopping boards.

User.

• Age between 25-35

• cooking time between 5 and 15 minutes

• Main dishes cooked are basic: pasta, chicken, faijtas/wraps, etc

• Lives in a metropolitan area and in small space

• minimal kitchen items

• Food is more of a need than for enjoyment

• would spend inbetween £15-25 on the product

Features.

To prevent cross-contamination the surfaces are offsetted from the work surface. If you want to prepare meat or vegetables then flip the board over.

Brief Design a piece of furniture designed for students that is a multifunctional shoe rack.

• Personal connection with item

• Flat pack, easy to assemble and disassemble.

• Holds Keys, wallet, Shoes, hang Jumpers.

• 70cm width, 70cm depth and 100cm height.

• Plywood material

• Lightweight

The arms are firstly placed into the main

section.

The table top is at an angle so will be placed at an angle.

Flat Pack product manufactured out of plywood with the curves steam bent.

The Corner is a multifunctional piece of furniture that is there to hold everything you need before you leave for your morning lecture.

Brief

Creating an item of furniture made from entirely sustainable material.

Chair and Footrest

Mushrooms

Oyster mushrooms can be dried and knitted together to create a comfortable fabric.

Mycelium binds materials together, oak wood pellets or wood chips can be used as well.

Inspiration

To gain inspiration for the furniture it is important to understand mushrooms and their form. Sketches were drawn of the mushrooms

Taking inspiration from the mushroom for the form and creating a piece of furniture for the everyday person
