MUSIC SCHOOL BERLIN, GERMANY FALL 2016 Professor Joachim Doerr The Fanny Hensel Music School in the Berlin Mitte was a building that survived World War II, and subsequently remained a bit outdated. The extension proposal was made to bring the building up to date and also make the school more inviting to new students, especially incoming refugees. My design took advantage of the existing axes of circulation by extending the axes through the extension so that the original building was easily noticeable and accessible through the addition.

LOEB THEATER CAMBRIDGE, MA SPRING 2016 Professor Meliti Dikeos The Loeb Theater which hosts the American Repertory Theatre is a renowned organization which frequently puts on shows from Broadway. Though the people that work in the building do great work, the building itself was a bit lacking in space and accessibility, so the addition aimed to address that. The educational and theater areas are the two pieces of program that control this addition, so when occupants make their way through the building to these destinations, points along the way will direct their eye towards long views, allowing them to acknowledge the existing and new inside the building, and also their place in the neighborhood.

ART CENTER

SWAMPSCOTT, MA FALL 2015 Professor Charles Cimino The Hadley Elementary School has a history going back to the early 20th century, and though the history is rich, the facilities were due for an upgrade with accessibility. The proposal focused on upgrading the circulation and also transforming the school into an art center. My design strived to emphasize the different phases of the creative process, where the work phase was loose and free, and the presentation phase was careful and precise. The program dealing with these processes were speciďŹ cally designed with different placement and aesthetic.

NEW ENGLAND CONSERVATORY BOSTON, MA SPRING 2014

Professor Meliti Dikeos The New England Conservatory (NEC) is a preeminent school of music in Boston, and with a great reputation it needed a visual centerpiece that gave the school an inviting landmark. The closed brick library building was not sufďŹ cing, and the proposal would tear down the square structure and introduce more practice and performance areas. My design opened up the campus to the busy street of Huntington Ave, and also gave the facade alot of transparency in an effort to make the NEC more noticeable and inviting when the many people pass it while traveling around Boston.
