Las Vegas Natural History Museum seeks artists for Black History Month exhibition

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Las Vegas Natural History Museum is inviting artists to take part in its Black History Month exhibition.

The deadline for artist submissions is Thursday, Jan. 11, according to a news release from the museum.

"Resilience: The African Diaspora" is described as an exhibition that will celebrate the resilience of African Americans to embrace and preserve their culture and traditions.

People of all backgrounds, ages and experience levels are invited to submit art pieces and artifacts that explain their journey to embracing their African roots.

All mediums are welcome, including drawings, paintings, collages, sculptures, photography and video. Submissions must be emailed to Grace Njoroge, Education Director, at education@lvnhm.org.

All sizes of art are welcome but may not be larger than 80 inches x 30 inches x 78 inches. Recorded submissions (spoken word, song, etc.) must be up to 3 minutes in length, connected to the theme, and be saved as an MP4.

Submissions should also include an up to 150-word description explaining the piece and how it connects to the theme. Artwork must be appropriate for all ages, meaning there is no vulgarity, graphic violence, or sexually explicit imagery.
