It’s hard to believe February is here already. Okay, I can’t resist… and LOVE is in the air! Why would I start out with such an overused cliché? I have a few good reasons to share with you. These updates are all tied to our first goal for 2024; Elevating Collaborative Partnerships.

Our January membership meeting was a great kick off for 2024. I could feel the LOVE in the room! We had a capacity crowd at Vic’s, a great new restaurant located Downtown at Symphony Park. The room was full of friends, old and new. We were able to celebrate our sponsors from 2023, introduce our 2024 sponsorship opportunities, and of course, we

AIA Northern Nevada and AIA Las Vegas are initiating an effort to identify areas that impact both the Northern and Southern Nevada architectural communities. Legislative issues will certainly be one area of focus but we anticipate finding other areas of interest that we can collaborate on. Please reach out and let me know if you have any ideas in this regard.

During the past couple of months, I have mentioned our goal to strengthen ties to local and regional professional organizations. Discussions with colleagues indicate that our industry partners are also interested in exploring how we can be impactful with these potential new collaborations.

In a few short weeks your delegation from AIA Nevada, AIA Northern Nevada and AIA Las Vegas will be headed to Washington DC for the 2024 Leadership Summit. We will have opportunities to collaborate with other chapter leaders and with AIA National Staff regarding chapter operations and topics that impact us all, across the nation. We will also be headed to Capitol Hill to meet with our Nevada Representatives. I look forward to reporting back to you on this regard next month.

There are more opportunities for networking and making an impact through our committees in February. Please take a look at the schedule of upcoming events to see where you can plug in and get involved. Finally, I wish you all a safe and enjoyable “Big Game” weekend.

Sincerely,

Troy D Moser, AIA
