Mary Suhm Mary Suhm led the City of Dallas in her role as city manager for nearly eight years. On July 1, she stepped down from the position and will retire at the end of 2013. She served in significant roles within the Dallas city government for nearly 30 years. As city manager, she was responsible for the daily operations of this great municipal organization, managing a staff of 13,000 employees and a budget of almost $3 billion. During the years she served in the city manager’s office, Mary saw many great visions for Dallas come to realization, including the Santiago Calatravadesigned Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, pivotal growth within the downtown district, expansion of the arts district, and great advances on the Trinity River corridor project.
