A TASTE OF BUFFALO, NY
When you think of food from Buffalo, New York, you probably think of one thing. Tonight, we’ll introduce you to a few more tastes of Buffalo.
Synonymous with Buffalo, the chicken wing was invented in 1964 at the Anchor Bar. Tonight’s signature beverage, the Rockwool Renaissance, was inspired by a popular drink at Crystal Beach, an amusement park near Niagara Falls. The loganberry is a cross between a raspberry and a blackberry.
Beef on weck is a sandwich consisting of roast beef, horseradish, and a special kummelweck roll which is covered with salt and caraway seeds.
When storms loom in Buffalo, people stock up on the essentials: bread, milk, eggs, and Bison dip. Think French onion dip, but better.
Traditionally eaten with potato chips, Bison dip can be an accompaniment to so many things.

THE GUARANTY BUILDING
The Guaranty Building, inspiration for the event graphics, is a pioneering skyscraper in Buffalo, New York, designed by Louis Sullivan and Dankmar Adler in 1896. The building’s ornate architecture and unique design have made it a revered example of American architecture.
The Guaranty Building features a rich program of floral terracotta ornament despite Sullivan’s stated belief that architects should refrain from ornamentation. Once slated for demolition, the Guaranty Building was saved and has undergone major renovations, most recently in 2008 to the distinctive terra cotta façade.
Western New York company Boston Valley Terra Cotta has provided tiles from their restoration efforts on the Guaranty Building for decor tonight. BVTC takes great pride in restoring the façades of the past. The City of Buffalo is home to some of the most historically significant American architecture, clad in ornate terra cotta façades. Architects such as Louis Sullivan, Henry Hobson Richardson, and James A. Johnson were able to make their mark on Western New York by designing buildings that have lasted well into the 21st century thanks to modern preservation techniques.
