Makerplace
The Makerplace provides visitors ages 12 and up a unique opportunity for making and creating using the latest technology and equipment, along with flexible workspaces and a commercial-grade kitchen. Visit anytime to explore the space, try something new or bring a project from home and use the open workspaces. All users must sign a waiver before using equipment or participating in Makerplace classes. Makerplace classes are for Arlington Heights cardholders only, unless otherwise noted.

BOOKBINDING
Wednesday, March 9, 6–7:30 p.m. / Makerplace Creative Arts
Learn the ins-and-outs of bookbinding in this hands-on workshop. Multi-disciplinary artist and educator Regin Igloria takes us on a journey of binding books and basic pamphlet stitches while showcasing examples. NEW

MEET THE MAKER: MARSHALL BRUNÉ

You may have strummed, plucked, picked, bowed, but have you ever made or fixed a string instrument? Renowned luthier Marshall Bruné is a workman with over two decades of experience. His instruments are known for their powerful sound, astoundingly rapid response, clean, pure tone and remarkable build quality. He specializes in all styles of acoustic guitars— classical, flamenco and steel string—as well as violins, violas and cellos.

Laser Cutting

Learn the basics of 2D design for laser cutting and engraving. Using digital design software, take your ideas from concept to completed pieces using the Makerplace’s laser cutter. All sessions are the same; register for one. NEW
Vinyl Cutting

Learn to download and create your own custom designs and how to cut adhesive vinyl, iron-on transfers, paper for scrapbooking and crafting, fabric, matboard, leather and more. Both sessions are the same; register for one. NEW

MAKERPLACE CULINARY CLASSES

Something’s brewing in the Makerplace Kitchen this month. Try your hand at brewing your very own ginger beer with Arlington Heights’ own Mark Heffernan of Zingabrew. Starting out by making ginger beer in his own kitchen, Heffernan built Zingabrew up from the ground and is excited to bring this passion to you. NEW
Culinary Essentials: Knife Skills

Chef Terry Park of Ttowa Korean Bistro joins us to share his recipe for kimchi. A staple food in Korean cuisine, this delicious, traditional side dish consists of salted, fermented vegetables and seasoning. Learn how to make and use kimchi in your cooking. NEW
Culinary: Chef’s Choice with Chef Grace
