Radiation takes advantage of the way the body creates, saves and loses heat. The technology uses an ultra-thin, reflective aluminum film that reflects 80% of body heat back to the body, keeping the rider warm in the coldest cycling conditions.
The Windstopper® X-Lite shell that we use for Radiation is one of the lightest, stretchiest and most breathable three-layer fabrics that Gore has ever produced. It eliminates windchill, allowing the Radiation panels to reflect heat and help the rider maintain a constant body temperature. 7
DESIGNED FOR PERFORMANCE The MANNAGGIA! jacket, clearly inspired by the MotoGP world, is specially designed for performance in cold weather and is constructed of the stretchiest Windstopper fabric, which allows for up to 10 times greater breathability than comparable windproof fabrics. The jacket works well at a wide range of temperatures with zip-open ventilation. Shock was the reaction when Cervélo TestTeam debuted these jackets during the Giro d’Italia. And for good reason. Castelli and W.L. Gore and Associates have an ongoing innovation partnership that has resulted in this breakthrough jacket. You might think that being the lightest-weight GORE-TEX® cycling jacket ever—weighing in at just 170 grams—would be big news. But it’s not. Let’s start with waterproofness. GORE-TEX® is “guaranteed to keep you dry” and this jacket is 100% waterproof, including full seam sealing and waterproof zippers. And 170 grams doesn’t mean compromising breathability, as the three-layer Pro Shell fabric is among the most breathable ever. Then there’s the construction: the “plissé” folded panels help make this jacket fit closer to the body and reduce fabric flapping in the wind. The front opening has five velcro patches so that you can quickly close the jacket as you come over the top of the pass in the Alps or Dolomites, then fix the zipper to really close it up when you have time.

The transparent rain cape is a classic racer’s piece. But we weren’t satisfied with the thought of wearing an old-style rain cape that’s essentially a plastic bag. Our Nanoflex water repellent fabric is one of those fabrics that seems miraculous. On a dry day it’s as warm and breathable as our normal Thermoflex fabric, but when it rains the water just runs off thanks to the 5 phase nanotechnology treatment. We’ve used an innovative construction that minimizes seams to keep you as dry as possible. While it’s not 100% waterproof, it’s the best solution we’ve ever tried for staying comfortable in any condition.
