Ahir

I am a registered Architect under the Council of Architecture. Architecture to me is the most innovative field where one can design a space either by a minimalistic approach or by creating a closed confined space which changes the perception of people utilizing this space. I decided to pursue my career in the field of Architecture as I would like to enhance my knowledge and develop my skills in designing multiple types of projects through which I can serve the people of society. I procure to include user’s and inhabitant’s opinions while designing, as well as the cultural heritage factor. For me, it is all about “creating a city” over creating fame.

High Speed Mass Transit Corridor and Cities

Case of Bullet Train and its Impact on Surat’s Urban Fabric

Mass transit corridors in any city are vital to its development in almost all aspects, including its social dynamic the way it functions how the city would evolve in the future, and the day-to-day accessibility of places feasibility of amenities, and mobility of its people.

This project focuses on assessing and mapping the possible impacts of the bullet train corridor on the urban development of Surat city and providing a conducive urban design framework to mitigate desired urban growth along the proposed corridor. To propose an urban design framework to mitigate futuristic needs and influences of the Bullet train corridor in Surat city.

The easier and seamless connectivity of the rural and urban corridors and the lines between them being blurred would result in exponential evolution only through the development of these transit corridors. For instance, the proposed corridor and station pass on the eastern side of the Surat metropolitan area, linking small towns of North and South.

Moreover, there are other factors like Reverse sprawl that would be integral to city development High-speed transit corridors would reverse or at least reduce the tendency for the cities to sprawl as wide as they can, with the newer developments on the fringes and neglected city center An efficient transit corridor network would revitalize this by reducing city congestion, pollution, lesser smog and noise in and around the city making it an environment-friendly deal and in return would activate areas near the newly developed stations and boost affect their economy in a positive manner.

A five-step methodology was adopted to create the urban proposal. The first step was to assess road safety and the demographic data according to the policies and regulations. The second was to enable an environment that facilitates achieving road safety. The third was to plan and design structures that create networks and cater to the user’s requirements.

The fourth step gave the tools to provide finance and capital to ensure road safety. Lastly, the implementation of these ideas in the TOD station to achieve safety is effective.

High-speed rail shortens the travel time between cities. It encourages the transfer of people who travel for business, tourism, pilgrimage, etc. Moreover, it is highly expected to exploit the potential of HSR by developing the HSR station and the area around the station by connecting smoothly with other transport modes at the HSR station and developing the station area based on TOD (Transport Oriented Development).

Such urban design projects provides ample amount of opportunities in the surburban areas for future development and prosperity. These projects act as catalysts for the city to grow and prosper with a major boom in infrastructure along with safety, regularised policies and methodological development.

Dream City

A step towards inclusive & sustainable Urban Design

The project seeks to radically propose design strategies that add diverse functions to transform the big long green path with the intention of a robust and sustainable environment with a rich community-oriented lifestyle. The design holds mobility in perspective. The safety of transportation is ensured for all users including residents, businesses, and visitors. A variety of options such as walkways, cycling tracks, and transit through other automobiles is facilitated through naturally occurring street connections. What in turn knits the design together is the common connection that the Public and the Private realms hold to the street.

The block-level planning strategically involves characters that would ease its usage and feasibility and enable a user-friendly experience. The accessibility of roads and their peripheral design ensure connectivity at the same time keeping in mind the division of private and public spaces. There are enough recreational spaces to keep the built v/s open ration healthy at the same time while ensuring enough recreation and social interaction for the people who reside there. The inwards facing spaces ensure view and privacy too making the block an individually well-functioning unit at an individual level at the same time making it an integral part of the master plan too.

Architecture of Aid

Architectural Aid for Rural India

Most of the local rural population consists of subsistence farmers, selling any excess crops at the market to make a profit. In villages women play a vital role, taking care of the house and children while working in the fields. Yet, literacy among women is much lower than among men. The entire process of idea formulation started with the main focus of creating spaces that generate space for rural women, where they can improve their skills, and knowledge and they can get a chance to connect with the Urban world so in rural India elder women can get the chance to enhance themselves.

Centers that enhance life skills have played an important role in providing community services and places to gather across India and around the world for many years. Still, in rural areas the impacts of poverty on women are significant. Women experience poverty at a greater rate than men. Women who are elder and not literate also want to take education but in some areas, it’s not easy for them. Rural women are also not educated about their health issues. The idea of giving a common platform to different communities of women to boost varied discussions and get education for a better future because in upcoming years all things are going digital and if countries women are well literate so country can grow faster and easier. Also, a typical Anganwadi center provides basic health care in a village. It is a part of the Indian public health care system. Basic health care activities include contraceptive counseling and supply, nutrition education and supplementation, as well as pre-school activities.

The impact of this project on the local community will be long-lasting. This project will help them to generate a good amount of revenue. women of this village can express themselves in a better way in front of others and they will get good exposure to enhance their selves. Also, they will learn a new technique of art. Children do not have to go so far from their homes for pre-school. They will get an education in their village with a better environment.

A sustainable design constructs an environment assistant motif. Furthermore, it involves the inputs of improvised solutions through a detailed study of its context, its climate, its people, its culture, and its way of being. Perhaps, it is therefore a unison of both character and characteristic. This study of the problem grounds the basis of the possible adequate solutions that can cater to the requirements of the occupants and the demand of the situation. In cases like these, it is the mentality and culturally driven lifestyle of people which drives the design in unison with the tangible aspects, and therefore, the microscopic or deceptive factors should keenly be studied here.

Architecture has been about the intriguing idea of designing structures that is not just a creative process with brainstorming but once traversing into the much-owned essence of space, thing, or person. Furthermore, a very personal representation of a wellput-together functional space. Perhaps it’s then about both character and characteristic put together. When the above factors are stands on the foundation of user acknowledgment it accounts for an appropriate architectural solution even in the most outlying and primitive areas and cultures.

Staff Housing

University Housing for Faculty at SCET, Surat

The exercise was to design staff housing, which comprised housing for the principal, HOD, admin staff, technical staff, peon, associate, and assistant professor. The site was located in Surat near Sarvajanik College of Engineering and Technology. The major concern was to put together different professions differentiated by a factor of income in a single place. Other concerns were to reduce the communication gap and adhere to different classes and cultures. The beauty of design surrounds us wherever we go, from the emotion that overcomes us when entering a building to walking through a city with an undeniably cohesive flow. Housing is all about catering needs of different cultures and different emotions in just one single place and that’s the beauty of architecture.

For developing a housing design for a staff of SCET, wiith each of the households having their area and different family size. Idea of designing a community housing started by designing a lowrise building with a ground-floor parking facility. While layout was arranged as can achieve open spaces and amenities at the central part of the site. Another aspect of the design was to provide a small garden area for admin staff, technical staff, and peon staff because of more number of families. Apart from this road is peripheral so anyone can access every building block easily and less vehicular circulation can happen in central area.

The design concept for the house focused on minimalism in terms of furniture and massing. The client’s mother has a bedroom on the ground floor. The client wanted a balcony to be a standout feature of the house, and the terra-cotta jali was included for this purpose as well as to allow for indirect sunlight in the client’s bedroom, which faces the southwest and can get very hot in the summer due to the humid climate. The client’s mother also enjoys sitting on an otta on the ground floor, facing the road of the society, so that she can interact with people and friends easily.
