Player of the Week

Goalie of the Week

Hartwick had three points against the Saints, all coming in the 5-2 win on Saturday. The junior forward scored two goals, both coming in the third period to put the game away for the Lakers. She also had an assist on Sarah Hine’s goal in the second period which went down as the game-winner.

Convery performed admirably in net for Mercyhurst, helping the Lakers earn a split with No. 4 St. Lawrence. She totaled 61 saves on 66 shots, leading to a 0.924 save percentage and a 2.42 goals against average. She stopped 32 shots in Saturday’s victory, including 23 in the first two periods.

Rookie of the Week

Sam Isbell – Mercyhurst Freshman, Forward – Thunder Bay, ONT/Whitby Jr. Wolves Isbell scored the third and fourth goals of her season in the two games against St. Lawrence. Her goal on Saturday gave the Lakers an early 2-0 lead in the first period. Then she scored for the second time on the weekend, cutting Mercyhurst’s 2-0 deficit in half late in the second period.

COLLEGE HOCKEY AMERICA MONTHLY AWARDS Player of the Month

Brittany Howard – Robert Morris Junior, Forward – St. Thomas, ONT/London Jr. Devilettes Howard had a point in each of the four games in December, extending her point streak to 10 games. She had three-point games in the final three games of the month, leading to a 10-point showing for the junior forward. Her 10 points came on four goals and six assists. She had a hat trick, the second one of her career, in Robert Morris’ 5-1 win over Brown and had the game-winning goal against Brown the following day. Howard posted a career-high three assists in a 6-5 win at Penn State on December 4th, keeping the Colonials unbeaten in conference play.

Goalie of the Month

Jessica Convery – Mercyhurst Junior, Goalie – Commerce Township, MI/Honeybaked Convery went 1-2-0 between the pipes for Mercyhurst, with her win coming against CHA opponent Lindenwood to start the month. The junior netminder allowed five goals in nearly 202 minutes in goal, leading to a 1.49 goals against average. She also stopped 78 of the 83 shots faced, resulting in a .940 save percentage. Her best start of the month came on December 2nd at Lindenwood, where she stopped all 24 shots she faced for a 4-0 shutout. That was her first shutout of the season and the second of her career.

Rookie of the Month

Jaycee Gebhard – Robert Morris Freshman, Forward – Plenty, SK/Notre Dame Hounds Gebhard recorded seven points in four December games as she continues to pace CHA rookies in scoring. Gebhard was held scoreless in RMU’s win over Penn State on December 3rd, then had multi-point games in the final three games of the month. She scored three goals and tallied four assists for her seven points. Gebhard had two goals and an assist, matching a career-high three points in the Colonials’ 6-5 win over Penn State, then had back-to-back two-point games against Brown to kick-off the second half of the season.

Lindenwood Team Notes

o Lindenwood and No. 1 Wisconsin only played one of their two scheduled games after a carbon-monoxide leak forced the cancellation of Saturday’s contest. The Badgers took down the Lady Lions, 5-1 in Friday’s game. o After starting the season winless in their first nine games, Lindenwood has gone 4-4-2 since November 12th, with wins coming against RIT, Minnesota State, Mercyhurst, and then-No. 7 North Dakota. o Jolene deBruyn stopped 30 shots against Wisconsin, the sixth time this season she tallied 30 or more saves in a game. o deBruyn has started all eight conference games for Lindenwood, post ing a 2.13 goals against average against CHA opponents. o Lindenwood is the only team in the CHA that does not have a double-digit scorer. Cierra Paisley leads the Lady Lions with nine points, followed by seven points from Carla Goodwin and Kirsten Martin.

Mercyhurst Team Notes

o Mercyhurst split a pair of games with then-No. 4 St. Lawrence as the two teams took part in the “D1 in D.C.” event last weekend. o The Lakers scored five goals on only 18 shots in Saturday’s 5-2 win over the Saints. It is the first time since December 6, 2014 that Mercyhurst has scored five goals on no more than 20 shots, accomplishing it against in a 5-2 win over Lindenwood. o Brooke Hartwick is Mercyhurst’s leading scorer with 21 points following her four-point weekend against St. Lawrence. It is the first time that Hartwick eclipsed 20 points in a season after finishing her sophomore campaign last year with 18 points. o Jessica Convery has rebounded from a sophomore slump in 2015-16 to anchor Mercyhurst’s defensive efforts. The junior has a 1.93 goals against average in 17 games and one shutout.

Penn State Team Notes

o Penn State closed their non-conference schedule with back-to-back shutout losses against Ohio State. This was the second time this season that the Nittany Lions were shutout in back-to-back games. o Laura Bowman and Amy Petersen are nearing the 100-point plateau, which would make them the first Penn State players to reach triple digit points for a career. Bowman enters the weekend with 97 points and Petersen has 92. Both players are over 20 points on the season, leading the Nittany Lions in scoring. o Daniela Paniccia surpassed former Penn State goalie Celine Whitlinger for most saves in a rookie season last week against Ohio State. She needed just three saves to pass Whitlinger’s 377 saves from 2012-13. o Penn State travels to Syracuse for a pair of CHA games. The Nittany Lions trail the Orange by one point in the conference standings for second place and a first-round bye in the CHA Tournament.

The sophomore netminder has started nine games, second most on the team behind freshman Terra Lanteigne. She has a 3.24 goals against average and a 0.902 save percentage, both marks trailing Lanteigne for tops on the team. o Kendall Cornine has become RIT’s offensive leader over the last 10 games, tallying 10 of her 11 points of the season during that time.
