Aberdeen Grammar School Magazine of Peter Jeffrey email – peter.jeffrey@gmail.com and Garth Glentworth g.glentworth@btinternet.com.The plan is that Harry will have overall responsibility for the master list and serve as the primary contact for members in Scotland and Ireland; Peter will play the same role for North America, Australasia and anywhere else outside the UK; and Garth will do the same for members in England and Wales. The most important question is obviously why create this network? What would venerable former Scouts get out of it and equally what would they be interested in contributing and hearing about? The first answer is simply to encourage contact between individuals who were fellow Scouts and friends many years ago and might wish to renew contact, share experiences or merely reminisce. This could be through direct person to person contacts or in small or large reunion groups .The initiatives would come voluntarily from Network Members, rather than by requests from the core group. The second should be the contents of a Newsletter which we hope to circulate to Network Members by e-mail. We will send fuller information via the Network suggesting possible contents, but in summary: Reminiscences of members’ Scouting experiences and impact on their future lives. We have a preliminary list of possible themed subjects. Examples are “Clinterty”, Summer and Easter camps, foreign travel, winter expeditions, and memories of Ian Macgregor’s impact on 1 st Scouting. Noteworthy events in subsequent lives that were influenced by Scouting or may just be of general interest. (These could include career choices, travel or relationships). Longer notes or articles/books produced by Network members relating to personal achievements, subjects of study/expertise or life events. Publications - or at least references to publications - which members just think are worthy of interest would also be included. Longer items could be attached to Newsletters as annexes We should be able to produce a trial Newsletter in the latter months of 2019.The issue will not be very long, but we hope it will confirm future interest. The key factor in its future continuation will be the response of Network Members and their willingness to contribute where they feel they have something to share and to suggest future topics for inclusion. Hopefully, this will begin to broaden but not necessarily lengthen the range of subject matter. Garth Glentworth will put together the first edition, working primarily with Diana Stevenson and Ron Lewis-Smith. Any contributions or suggestions in advance will be very welcome. We have not yet decided on limits on contributions, but these initially should be in the hundreds rather than thousands of words. 70
