Section Reports Cricket 1st XI 2018 saw FPs take another leap forward in not only skill but competitiveness on the field. After the success of the previous season as 1st XI skipper, Rob Swiergon was aware that everyone would be gunning for FPs to knock them off the top. In the league we finished second to Bon Accord who now know they have a fierce adversary in FPs. Our success through the season was down to our team effort, something which has helped the team stand out from many of our competitors. Naturally within the team we had some stand out performers; Karan Anand our prolific all-rounder finished the season with an average over 80 and rightly picked up the League Batting trophy for his efforts. He scored 731 runs at an average of 81.2 and this included two centuries, one a blistering 177 not out against Grampian in the Cup and another fine 103 not out against Crescent. Earlier he had claimed 4 for 23 in a true man of the match effort. As well as being top batsman, he was also top bowler with 34 wickets at 13.4. Experienced opener Alex Keith also rolled back the years guiding FPs to some very good starts averaging 41 for the club through the year. He finally made a century for the club with 122 not out in a 20/20 game against Montrose as we 53
