Former Pupils’ Section Sadly, the last year has seen the passing of some outstanding and lifelong members. Jim Lyon passed away in September 2018, Nigel Parker in October 2018, Norman Garden in February 2019, Ally Ritchie in March 2019 and Graham Barron and Dick Cradock in May 2019. These gentlemen will be sadly missed, not just for their loyalty and enduring commitment to the club, but even more so for their decency, good humour and camaraderie. The Centre endures as the home and hive of all Aberdeen Grammar Sport activities. It is a great credit to the officials of the Sports Sections that their support of the Centre is unwavering as is their desire that all sporting activities that represent Aberdeen Grammar stick together and remain united. The name of Aberdeen Grammar is highly respected throughout Scottish Sport and we are regularly complimented by visiting officials on how much they enjoy their annual visit and the hospitality received in a facility much admired and envied by other clubs. The Centre is very indebted to the sports sections for the trade, atmosphere and ambience that they bring to the Centre, with the Centre reciprocating by making itself a more competitively priced and more welcoming environment than other licensed premises. The party at the Centre following the return of our Rugby players after their cup final success was a joy to attend with much merry making and good humoured exuberance in evidence and in bucket loads. Canada As the current Magazine is issued members of the Canadian Centre are preparing for this year’s Reunion weekend to be held in Calgary from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 October. We look forward to welcoming President Iain Hopkin and his wife Anne who are visiting us. It will be recalled that two Reunions were reported a year ago as the 2017 weekend was brought forward to coincide with the celebration of the life of Peter Green. Looking ahead to next year, for anyone planning a holiday in Canada, the Reunion will be on the weekend Friday 11 to Sunday 13 September and will be held in the East – location to be advised nearer the time.

Edinburgh Following last year’s late cancellation of the Edinburgh Centre’s Annual Dinner owing to lack of numbers the current Edinburgh centre President, Nigel Watt and the local committee have been considering options for alternative approaches to the provision of an Edinburgh based function or functions for local FPs and their guests, ranging from a black tie dinner to ad hoc informal lunches. 49
