Aberdeen Grammar School Magazine making a flawless century in the cup. Alex Keith has also continued to score heavily, his standout innings being a century against Masterblasters. Karan Anand having been stuck in India has not played as often, but still found time for a match-winning 107 in the cup semi-final. These four have been the key batsmen, but they have been ably supported by Geoff Morrison, Conner McKinney and Hamish Penman who have all chipped in when needed. Conner McKinney also continues to be the standout fielder in all of Grades cricket, taking some unbelievable catches and covering the field like a whippet. His recent catch against Bon Accord was rightly clapped by a sizeable crowd who had gathered for the game - it was an extraordinary effort. Bowling wise, wickets have been shared round with Prash currently leading the way with 18 at 17 a-piece. Mahesh Challa claimed a 5 for at Inveruie and has 15 victims, and the evergreen Roland Knudson continues to flummox batsmen with 16 wickets from his off-breaks. Fraser Proud, John Thomson and Karan Anand have all weighed in and it will need a team effort if the season is to finish as hoped. You can find out how it goes each week at www.aberdeencricket.com The 2nd XI has had a tougher season in Grade 2, not helped by the loss of a number of players who have moved away due to Covid and some players perhaps drifting away after a year without play. They have remained spirited throughout and have just collected their first win of the season, skipper Aman Sood claiming 5 wickets in a low scoring game at Methlick. He has been their top run-scorer and wicket-taker and has also turned out in the 1s when needed adding a good all round dimension to whatever side he plays for. With a late surge, the 2nd XI may be able to save themselves from relegation, but they will need some wins and results to go their way. Going forward there is certainly a need to attract more players and anyone who wishes to play should get in touch. We will also be looking to improve our facilities, as during lockdown the pitch was badly damaged by a disposable barbeque. While it has been patched up, it is far from ideal and will need to be replaced in the fullness of time. The recent addition of a movable batting cage has certainly aided practice. The Club continues to be run by three or four key enthusiasts and their efforts should not be underplayed in keeping the Cricket Club on a first footing.

Football As a result of the covid pandemic, season 2020-21 was completely wiped out, although we did manage to play the occasional friendly match. Fortunately the situation has now eased and we have fixtures arranged for our new 2021-22 season commencing on 7th August.
