Jerri and I support and endorse the Atlanta Grade School project. Both of us attended “Miller Grade School” and have many good memories of our time there. We fully support converting the school to a “high tech” community center to benefit our community.
We would also enjoy attending events there and feel it will highlight our school and community heritage.

Atlanta Grade School Friends:
We are writing to express our enthusiastic endorsement for the Miller Grade School historical building project in our community. As passionate advocates for cultural preservation and tourism development, our family believes this endeavor holds immense potential to preserve our rich heritage. This passion stems from the fact that not only are we native Atlanteans - all our immediate family members received our early education in this very building. Because of our love for this school building, our family erected-the United States flag and flagpole that now stands in front of this historic site in honor of our wife and mother, Shirley McNeil Clements.
Our community boasts many other cultural treasures, and the restoration and revitalization of the Miller Grade School site will undoubtedly contribute to showcasing our unique heritage to visitors from near and far. By preserving this iconic structure, we not only honor our past but also create opportunities for economic growth and community pride.
The historical significance of the Miller Grade School cannot be overstated. Its architectural beauty and storied past serve as a testament to the rich tapestry of our local history. Through careful restoration and thoughtful redevelopment, we have the chance to breathe new life into this cherished landmark, transforming it into a vibrant hub for cultural exchange, tourism activities and community events. Moreover, it will foster a greater sense of pride and identity among the citizens of Atlanta as we see this beautiful site come to life again.
The Clements family is confident that the successful realization of this project will serve as a beacon of inspiration for future generations, reminding them of the importance of preserving our shared history and heritage. It is our sincere hope that everyone will join us in supporting this endeavor, recognizing its potential to enrich our community and leave a lasting legacy for years to come.
Sincerely,
The Jay Sterling Clements Family

Atlanta by Choice
AtlantaISO provides a safe, caring, engaging andinnovative environment thatencourages highexpectations for achievement in allareas.Students willdevelop skills, character and hometown values necessary to become successful citizens.
On behalf of the Atlanta Independent School District, I would like to offer our support for the Atlanta Grade School Friends historic restoration of the former Miller Grade School building. From 1936 to 1974, Miller Grade provided a safe and welcoming environment for Atlanta's children and their dedicated teachers. In addition to renovation of the building and the continued maintenance thereof, Atlanta Grade School Friends oversees the development and management of educational programs and related activities for all ages that enhance the building's usefulness.
School officials recently toured the building, and we are highly impressed with the progress thus far. Not too many years ago, this building was in a severe state of disrepair and was so far gone that most citizens of our community thought it should be demolished. But thanks to the Friends, we can now see much progress and look forward to realization of their vision.
Spaces for community education, workforce training, meetings, and offices will require modern technology for most applications. Atlanta ISD is excited about not only the historic preservation of this WPA-era property, but also the addition of the latest amenities such as digital computer networking and telecommunications. Adaptation of the building for today's connected world, while preserving its historical aspects, would greatly enhance this building's usefulness and potential to serve this community. Atlanta ISD strongly urges you to consider this project for approval.
Very truly yours,
Marilyn Cobb
