Pinot Noir ~ A versatile wine for holiday fare, this Pinot Noir is full of ripe red cherries and rhubarb with a little herbal tea essence, nice acidity, overall very well balanced. A side note, Pinot Noir is one of hardest varietals to grow, so it's worth it to pay a little more for this varietal for better quality. Pair this with roast how to cook duck, pork tenderloin or the French dish, Coque a Vin. This is an impressive gift idea for any wine lover. It's a great dish to make because preparing the red cabbage for hours in a slow cooker duck will fill the house with the holiday smells of allspice and cloves. Pairing red cabbage with Chicken Schnitzel is also nice because the pan-fried chicken is so easy to make after toiling over the red cabbage. Those who want to celebrate at home but do not want to cook the meal can pick up a complete Easter meal of either boneless rib eye of beef or boneless leg of lamb. The meal comes with marinated artichoke and wild mushroom salad, heirloom tomato salad with feta cheese, au gratin potatoes, and a spring vegetable medley. For dessert, diners get to choose between cooking a whole duck in a crock pot chocolate hazelnut silk cake and a fresh fruit tart. The rib eye or leg of lamb meal, including all sides, costs $229 each, and pick up times are from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., every half hour. Port ~ A great dessert wine, like a Port, can be a sweet end to a delicious Holiday meal. "Very saturated dark red. Youthful port aromas of cassis, licorice, chocolate, herbs and damp earth. Very intense, sweet flavors of chocolate and dark berries. Robust yet smooth and not obviously alcoholic. Superb fruit is given clarity by firm acids. Real wine-class port, with terrific structure, freshness and delineation of flavor." Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar. Goes amazing with rich nutty or chocolate desserts and full bodied cheeses. Great gift idea: buy a bottle of this port and add your favorite dark chocolate truffles.
