Itinerant market stand “Wines of Brda”
October 2018 - February 2019, winter semester course: Interior Design, Mentor: prof. Alessio Princic Collaboration: Krystian Najgebauer Master’s degree
Consists of 26 20ft-shipping containers and 6 40ft-shipping containers. It is to be very flexible, moveable, fast to assembly and convinient for users.
The task was to create kind of showcase of slovenian region Brda, well-known for its great production of many kinds of wine. The structure has to be designed as it could represent the region in any place around the world in example: Times Square, NY; Plaza Catalunya, Barcelona or Hachiko Square in Tokyo. Therefore, a difficulty of the design process was not about setting in a particular context in a certain harmony with surrounding but reflecting the atmosphere and sensation right from Brda.
6
Idea of design
Our idea is based on a traditional winery from Brda which is well-known for inner courtyard - the heart of the building, arcades surrounding this courtyard and teraces of vineyards on hillsides. The inner open-space welcomes guests and invites them to enter and explore the interior. They are coming under the double row of arcades through the terraces to the inside. The double height fountain in front of the entrance makes a first impression. On the right (from the entrance) there is the double height space dedicated to wine tasting and wine seller, it is directly connected with inner courtyard by sliding door. On the left side there is the double height corridor with exposition of Art of Brda and the staircase leading guests to the upper level where the restaurant is located. From that part guests can go out onto the terrace which is also a part of reastaurant. From this point guests can observe the courtyard as well as neighbour surrounding.

The interior was designed especially for demanding guests who need to find relaxing atmosphere while having glass of high quality wine or having a dinner with friends or family. Juxtaposing very opposite materials together: row even rustic metal and warm wood we create coherent and integral one.
10
Since sustainable design became not only a part of a whole design process but the aim itself, constructing private houses as well as more complex structures with containers became an alternate way of thinking about architecture.
Nowadays they are a great solution that meets up high demands of modern societies. Container buidings have multiple advantages such as rapid and cheap construction, ability to be disassembled equally easily, quickly and economically, not to mention being able to be rebuilt as many times as necessary. By using different combinations of prefabricated modules, differrent types of the same building can be created.
The new architectural paradigm of sustainability has the objective of satysfying people’s needs anywhere and at any time without endangering the quality of life and development of future generations. That can be accomplished using this technology.

Revitalization of the Monastery in Kostanjevica na Krki, Slovenia
October 2018 - February 2019, winter semester
course: Studio Design, prof. Sonja Ifko
Master’s degree
software: Archicad
The main purpose was to engage the whole site of property to make it attractive for visitors and tourists as well as organize internal spaces for effective use. The complex is the result of numerous reconstructions and additions, which testifies to the turbulent past of the monastery. The oldest part of the monastery church is the triple-naved basilica, which corresponds to the Bernardine architectural style. Renovations began in 1958. By 1971 the church had been rebuilt by the Slovenian Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage. Nowadays the building as well as surrounding need a new breath to bring them back to life and at the same time to protect and conserve remaining ruins from medieval ages. Thus process of design contains much of consideration about history, former facilities and functions. Before it started, the process of research had a crucial meaning for further work. Close to the main entrance there is a former mill, now it doesn’t perform its original function. Inside it is a bit neglected, used only as a storage. One of main goals of this project was to create a new space for visitors and artists. The mill would be dedicated for an exhibition of its history and also upper part for artists living space (great part of monastery is dediacted to art, not only in museum but also galleries of modern artists from Slovenia and whole Europe).

One of the main problems of 21st-century society is fast, uncontrolled natural environment degradation progress which has irreparable changes. Possible visions of the future are not optimistic. According to the science research humanity has only 12 years for radical changes in the management of natural resources and to stop with consumer lifestyle. In all fields of human activities, we can observe trends towards minimizing the negative impact on the natural environment for future generations. Natural materials and new technologies could be the answer to the problem because contemporary resources caused huge pollution. Therefore, architects and architecture they create have a great impact on changes occurring in society and the natural environment. The project has been designed with an awareness of this responsibility and tries to point out a direction of development.

3D modelling | Key to heaven
October 2018 - February 2019, winter semester
Course: Detail in architectural composition, mentor: Jurij Licen
Collaboration: Krystian Neugebauer, Pavla Kejdanova
Masters degree
software: Maya
The keys of heaven are perceived as a symbol of papal authority. According to the Bible, the keys were given to Saint Peter along with the power of binding and loosing. In Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catolic depictions is Saint Peter pictured holding one key, or a set of keys.
“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on Earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on Earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
Gospel of Matthew 16:19
We chose concept of keys of Heaven. The shape changed during centuries, so its real shape was never estimated and was pictured differently by different artists. That is why modeling of this special concept is a challenge and also a bit of mysterious.

Multi-family building - construction documentation
software: Archicad (3D model, plans, sections, elevations, schedules, schemes, details, coordination)
January 2021 - March 2021 - Schematic Design (zoning review, approve building program for architecture and interiors with client, code analysis, project scope)
March 2021 - June 2021 - Design Development (preliminary cost estimate, 3D modelling, detailed drawings)
June 2021 - January 2022 - Construction Documentation (installations coordination, review shop drawings, meetings on building site with contractor, constraction administration)
February 2022 - ongoing - building construction
From the very first sketch till the last meeting on a construction site, the project evaluated in every single detail in both large and little scale in order to eventually emerged and became a new place to live for its inhabitants. Probably the most challenging task was to meet the client expectations, budget limitations and our vision of high quality architecture at once to provide a convinient home in city center. As long as building codes and local regulations are very specific, we have to be carefull, pragmatic and creative that requires great team engagement, coordination and communication between architects, artists, engineers and contractors.
The building contains 45 apartaments arranged on 4 floors. An underground contains garage for 62 cars and technical rooms (water, heating, electrical). All ducts and installations are grouped in shafts to minimaze an unused area and maximaze living space. Ventilation air intake and exhaust is located on the rooftop. According to the fire safety regulations each apartament unit is separated from another and from a corridor by wall of EI30 fire rate. Stairway is protected by compartment walls and is constructed of materials achieving class A2-s3, d2 or better. Lift shaft is enclosed with REI60 reinforced concrete walls. The door between corridor and stairway opens in the direction of enscape and needs to be EI30 rate.

The Site is located between city center of Cracow and Nowa Huta district (considered as an ideal socialist-realist settlement from the mid 20’th century). Surrounded by greenery areas, suburban development such as retail buildings, residential blocks, parking lots and railway infrastructure, the site is approximately 0,97km2 Chaotically arranged architecture and infrastructure make the overall outlook neglected. Our goal was to restore and upgrade the current situation by introducing new functions, facilities and therefore by engaging local communities to have their own input there. The analysis encompasses advantages and disadvantages, how to organise the space to avoid potential threats and be as much as possible convinient and useful for citizens.
Working with people from around the world had a significant impact in process of thinking and designing. During those two weeks we put emphasis not only on final result but especially on searching, discovering and digging in many different approaches and directions. That led us to varied conclusions and taught us how diverse attitude to the issue can people from different educational and cultural background have.
