NEWSLETTER SEPTEMBER 2018 Hi there Folks. Bit cold out there so make sure you wrap up warm when you go out. Lots of bugs around too. Remember if you are sniffy it may be a bout of hay-fever and not a cold on the way. It is Spring after all. Marilyn Hope kept a very small audience enthralled during our last concert earlier this month. If you missed this event you missed a treat from a talented pianist! The Red Cross Choir is scheduled for a visit 17th October and Russell Ward will complete our concert programme for 2018 on November 21st. Make a note of the dates in your diaries folks and come and support these events! Try your luck with the Raffles and enjoy afternoon tea after the entertainment. Usual starting time of 1.45 pm, cost of $3.00 entry. Concert

Social Group A lunch outing at Mitchells Tavern on the 26 th was much

enjoyed this month. Watch the notice board for future outings and let Gwen or Dorothy know if you are interested in joining the group. Travel As usual The Milton Seniors annual concert on Friday 17th August was well supported and enjoyed by the various groups around Otago.

Our September Trip to Te Anau saw us leave town with the threat of very unsettled weather patterns but what eventuated was pure magic! The lakes were fabulous: the glow worms shone in all their glory; Milford Sound let us see the penguins playing in the clear waters and seals basking in the sun which shone on us all during the whole time we were away. The gardens and vistas ‌.. wow! Where to next year folks??? Everyone is familiar with the Oamaru Festival events and this year, a bus will travel on Sunday for the Street Market Day on the 18th November. Cost for the bus and entry to the event $40.00 per person. We will leave the Depot at 9.00am and the Club Rooms at 9.15am. Let Rose or Gwen know if you are interested in this day out. FUND RAISING MARKET DAYS On Wednesday 31st November and Friday 2nd December there will market tables in the Club Rooms selling a variety of goods ranging from produce, baking, white elephants and other possibilities. You may even find that special gift you were looking for. We would welcome any contributions so if you are spring cleaning or have jam or relishes etc that are surplus to requirements any donations would be much appreciated. (No clothing items this year please.)
