They visited the Planetarium and were taken on an immersive journey around our galaxy viewing planets, moons, constellations and much more. The pupils enjoyed visiting the exhibitions and learning about the electricity inside a plasma ball, the force inside a black hole and viewing the clockwork orrery model of the solar system.
An amazing day full of astro-physics and lots of fun.
The J5 class followed their school trip by exploring gravity, designing and launching their very own rockets!
Each pupil started with an empty 2litre plastic bottle and added features to it such as fins and a nose cone. They then took the rockets outside and added water to them to increase the pressure created when the pupils pumped air into the rocket using the bicycle pump. The results were fantastic!
As we bade farewell to our Year 13 students, prior to their exams, with a wonderful Leavers Dinner alongside their families, we had the pleasure of inviting two former Abbey Gate College Sixth Form students, Thomas Fairclough and Holly Gray (Class of 2018) to share their memories and experiences with the Class of 2024. Tom and Holly graciously reflected on their time at Abbey Gate College and the journeys they embarked upon since leaving. Their inspiring stories provide a glimpse into the lasting impact of the College on its students and the bright futures that await our graduates. Tom and Holly have kindly written further for us, as follows:
