MEET YOUR

Team

What matters most to me as a doctor is developing meaningful relationships with my patients and helping them achieve the best outcomes possible, which is why I’ve returned to patient care to focus on that aspect of medicine. Dr. Linda Harpole is assistant professor of medicine at Duke University. She obtained her medical degree at Duke University School of Medicine in 1992, and completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital, in Boston. After completing her residency, she attained a Masters of Public Health degree at Harvard School of Public Health and completed a General Internal Medicine Fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. She is passionate about improving the quality, efficiency and outcomes of healthcare, and brings her experience with this to her care of patients.

Linda Harpole, MD, MPH

I am very fortunate to get to work in a profession that I love. I went into medicine initially because of my interest in science and the incredible complexity of the human body. Dr. Audrey Metz found her home in primary care where she can follow patients long-term, develop relationships, and be the true coordinator of all of their health care needs. Her favorite part of practicing medicine is applying medical evidence within the context of an individual patient’s goals.

Audrey Metz, MD

Dr. Metz earned her medical degree at Vanderbilt University where she was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha medical society and earned the Albert Weinstein award in medicine for superior clinical competence and qualities of dedication and professionalism. She then completed her residency at Duke University and is board certified in internal medicine. She practiced at Duke Primary Care in Durham for four years prior to joining Duke Signature Care.

This program is for patients who want to engage in their health. I am here to give them access and time to truly care for their health.

Dr. John Paat oversees Duke Signature Care as the medical director. He joined the team from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota where he spent more than 12 years as a consultant physician, assistant professor of medicine and practice administrator. Dr. Paat is passionate about providing care to all patients through his work with residents in their continuity clinic, Project Access of Durham County and numerous international medical missions.

John Paat, MD

Dr. Paat is the associate chief medical officer for the Duke Private Diagnostic Clinic, professor of medicine at Duke University School of Medicine and fellow of the American College of Physicians. He is a board-certified general internist, who earned his medical degree at the University of Toledo, Ohio, and completed his residency at Summa Akron City Hospital, Ohio.

For me, being a doctor is about taking care of my patients. I love being a part of Duke Signature Care because it allows me to take the time to get to know my patients and help make a positive difference in their life. Dr. Anne Phelps is board certified in internal medicine. She earned her medical degree at the University of Michigan and completed her residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center. She joined the division of General Internal Medicine at Duke in 2001. She is an assistant professor of medicine and fellow of the American College of Physicians. She has been active in teaching residents throughout her career at Duke Her areas of clinical interest include cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension, mental health, geriatrics and women’s health.

Anne Phelps, MD, FACP

Being able to spend as much time with my patients as I truly feel I should has made a tremendous difference in my relationship with them. Dr. Brian Wolf guides you through the management of your health by helping you make effective choices. His ultimate goal is to make his patients’ lives better. Dr. Wolf is assistant professor of medicine at Duke University School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at University of Maryland Medical Center. He was in private practice for six years in Annapolis, Maryland. For four years, Dr. Wolf practiced at Duke Primary Care in Durham.

Brian Wolf, MD

I am fortunate to be practicing at Duke Signature Care. The extended appointment times allow more discussion and patients have more time to actively participate in their health plan. Dr. Kathleen Waite has been providing primary care at Duke since 1993. Her areas of clinical interest include preventive medicine and the management of chronic illnesses like diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol and heart disease. She has a special interest in women’s health including menopause and osteoporosis. Dr. Waite earned her medical degree at Duke University and completed her Internal Medicine residency at Duke. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and was named a fellow of the American College of Physicians in 2011. She is associate professor of medicine and is actively involved in teaching at Duke.

Kathleen Waite, MD, FACP

She regularly volunteers at the local community health center that provides care to the less fortunate.

As a cardiologist, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of being proactive about your cardiovascular health. This program allows the patients to get the care they need as soon as they need it. Dr. Magnus Ohman’s clinical interests are in general cardiology, including prevention and interventional cardiology. He is frequently consulted for treatment of patients with complex heart disease. “Signature Care is actually what medicine used to be with 24/7 healthcare. The doctors take the time to listen to you, examine you, discuss your problems and then provide any necessary plan of treatment. Most doctors would love to be able to do this but have time restraints within their daily schedules.” B. Collie

“I have benefited from Duke Signature Care for many years. Their knowledge, skills, expertise and immediate attention is most impressive and appreciated.“ H. Cullman
