
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: PROGRAM ACCOUNTANT
FXB International in Uganda is currently seeking to recruit an Accountant
The Association François-Xavier Bagnoud (FXB) International FXB in Uganda is a NonGovernmental Organization (NGO) that has been operating in Uganda since 1990. FXB’s mission is to fight poverty and HIV/AIDS through its integrated community development model FXBVillage and other interventions benefiting populations living in extreme poverty.
Job Purpose
FXB is looking for an accountant to be responsible for maintaining sound financial and accounting systems and controls for FXB. The role entails performing financial accounting tasks including, processing payments, filing, and document retrieval, providing data for report preparation and data input to support budgeting, financial accounting, and reporting of assigned grants. He/she will work under the supervision of the Program Manager and will collaborate with the other staff and stakeholders assigned to the program.

Location: Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District
Duties and responsibilities:
✓ Ensure that all financial transactions are carried out and recorded per FXB procedures and policies.
✓ Preparation and prompt settlement of statutory and other payroll deductions i.e. PAYE, NSSF, Withholding tax, and other payments.
✓ Cash flow management and bank reconciliation for all FXB accounts,
✓ Ensuring proper books of accounts are kept and maintaining a sound archiving (filing and retrieval) system
✓ Preparation of various supporting schedules to the financial statements to facilitate annual audit and assist in the fieldwork process.
✓ Preparation of the payroll journal and monthly reconciliation of the payroll control code
✓ Prepare and circulate monthly monitoring (expense vs. budget) reports to your supervisor as per the set deadlines for assigned project codes
✓ Disbursement of funds per prescribed accounting procedures;
✓ Prepare payments for field activities and ensure accountabilities for field activity advances are accurate and obtained on time;
✓ Conduct inventory of assets;
Academic Background, Experience, and Person Specifications:
✓ Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field,
✓ At least 5 years of experience in a similar position,
✓ Verbal and written communication skills in English,
✓ Knowledge of QuickBooks Accounting software is an added advantage,
✓ Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
✓ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
✓ Able to work with limited supervision
