The Association François-Xavier Bagnoud (FXB) International FXB in Uganda is a NonGovernmental Organization (NGO) that has been operating in Uganda since 1990 FXB’s mission is to fight poverty and HIV/AIDS through its integrated community development model FXBVillage and other interventions benefiting populations living in extreme poverty.
Job description
FXB is looking for a Program officer as part of the implementation of its FXBVillage program in the communities of Namayumba sub-county, Wakiso District. The program Officer will be responsible for ensuring that children and caregivers in the targeted families are healthy and free from disease. He/she will work under the supervision of the Program Manager and will collaborate with the other staff and stakeholders assigned to the program.

Location: Namayumba, Wakiso District
Duties and responsibilities:
✓ Assess the living conditions of targeted families and design strategies for preventing illness among children and their caregivers.
✓ Liaising with other stakeholders, organize and conduct Mobile Clinics with targeted communities.
✓ Map out and establish working relationships with government medical centers to facilitate referrals of targeted OVCs and their caregivers.
✓ Following the participants at home, in groups, and helping them overcome their daily problems through counseling and appropriate medical assistance
✓ Conduct home-based care for OVC and caregivers and offer palliative support whenever needed.
✓ Conduct training on reusable sanitary towels for girls and caregivers
✓ Design and develop Information Education Communication IEC material on Public Health
✓ Conduct community sensitization on different topics including HIV/AIDs, Hygiene, Sanitation nutrition, immunization, family planning, and other practices related to good health
✓ Play an active role in identifying, documenting, and disseminating best practices
✓ Monitor the performance of the health interventions and participate in monitoring and review activities
✓ Ensure that the funds requested for the program activities are spent and accounted for, in line with the FXB financial management procedures and policies.
Academic Background, Experience, and Person Specifications:
✓ The applicant must hold a Diploma in Registration in Nursing and Midwifery, registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwifery Council, and hold a valid practicing license.
✓ At least three years’ experience in community health promotion;
✓ Experience in caring for people living with HIV/AIDS and other illnesses
✓ Experience in caring for undernourished people;
✓ Proven experience in adult education and training.
✓ Must be willing to be based in the program area; with a direct field time presence of 80% of working time.
✓ Ability to ride a Motorcycle and in possession of a valid Class A riding license.
✓ Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian response.
✓ Proficient in MS office(Ms word, Ms Excel, Ms Power point,)
✓ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
✓ Management skills and Team working qualities;
