Ambassador Smith said Ghana and the US continue to work together on wide range of issues such as economic growth and development, democracy and good governance and peace and security and improving the state of bilateral relations between the two countries. His Excellency, Lt Gen. Smith emphasised Ghana’s commitment to the values of democracy, such as the respect for human rights, good governance, rule of Law, freedom of the press, an independent judiciary, accountability and strong institutions of State. He commended the US for the various initiatives it has taken to improve the lives of people on the African continent such as Feed the Future, the young African Leaders initiative and power Africa, which are all geared to help educate and prepare the youth of Africa as the next generation of leaders. Ambassador Smith also commended President

Obama for hosting the US-African Leaders’ Summit, saying it was indicative of the growing importance of Africa on the global stage and the realization by the US administration of the gains to be derived from such relationship. On the successful completion of the first Millennium Challenge Compact (MCC), the Ambassador expressed Ghana’s appreciation to the government and people of the US and thanked the US President for the second MCC signed on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the cost of 498 million dollars to revamp Ghana’s energy sector. According to the survey as stated by Whenkeremma Okezie, the CEO of Geomarine Systems Limited in Nigeria, South Africa is highly advanced when it comes to ICT technology as well as in infrastructure and culture. It has all the possibility for positive growth in the coming years which will be enough to prevent economic shocks. Nigeria on the other hand is quickly growing its ICT mores and the infrastructure growth is also promising. Although power remains to be a challenge, the country has the population to sustain business opportunities already available from within. Another country increasing its ICT growth is Kenya which has the advantage to have local talent with a drive for innovation which can maintain the intense growth in the sector.

Caesar Onejeme from Business Development at Fleet Technologies Limited said that “Ghana is more like a rising South Africa, with a very stable political and economic system. The country also boasts a far better security position than the two countries earlier mentioned.” On the conditions of Rwanda, James Njorge stated that it is, “a country that has shown hunger for anything that can boost its growth and the government has lent the ICT sector a hand by partnering with non – profit organizations that have shown interest.” Njorge is a Financial Consultant for Pan Africa Life Insurance Limited in Kenya.

When it comes to IT development and IT startups, Africa is fast adapting the changing environment ensued by information technology from communications to computer hardware manufacturing, packaged software development, and Internet based services among others. And while there are fewer supports coming from central governments across the continent when it comes to fostering development in the IT industry, private companies and new business startups will play a key role in improving the technological sector of the continent.

number fouth world exporter of oil. The industry has however been racked with a lot of problems which has also affected the effect of the oil industry on the country. Many oil producing countries are way ahead of Nigeria which has left many wondering. The Royal Dutch Shell is currently facing a one hundred million dollars fine from the Nigerian government due to an oil spill. Militants have also gotten into the business cutting into the production and slowing down production exponentially. This has also led to the death of a number of people in the whole saga making it a hot spot area.

Algeria

Algeria comes second in Africa producing about 2.1 million barrels a day. It has also had its share of problems with the president firing the CEO due to scandal claims. Sonatrach is owned by the state explaining the action by the president. Algeria had flaunted oil reserves holding about 12.2 billion barrels of oil in the year 2010. This is a massive amount equaling about 18 years of the worlds production.

Angola

Angola is the third top producer in Africa and their 1.9 million barrels each and every day places them seventh in the world. Oil and gas holds Angola’s economy. Many foreign investors have ventured into the business with the government giving a pliable platform that has built the economy making Angola one of Africa’s richest countries.

Libya

Libya produces about 1.7 million barrels every day exporting about 1.2 of the total. Libya has seen a lot of change since the fall of Gadaffi the leader and dictator. There has been a war between the rebels and the government forces though subsiding making this country a stable nation for investors. The political change has affected the oil companies positively and more is expected to be derived from the large investment grounds. Egypt Egypt is the fifth best producer of Africa. They produce 680, 000 barrels per day. The main spots of production are the Gulf of Suez, the Eastern desert, the Western Desert and the Peninsula of Sinai. They have also invested in a pipeline that runs from the Gulf of Suez to the city of Sidi Kerir. Oil is one of Egypt’s biggest supports for the economy with the pipeline making for easy transportation and making more for the nation. Sudan Sudan is the sixth biggest producer of oil in Africa. Producing about 487, 000 barrels a day, Sudan has oil as its biggest economic activity. The country has also had its share of problems with the north and the South having problems getting along leading to the splitting of the country into two independent nations. Things are still tense though the oil keeps running. Equatorial Guinea The seventh biggest producer of oil in Africa is Equatorial Guinea producing about 346,000 barrels each and every day. Oil makes a big part of the economy in this part f the world with most oil rings just off the coast. The Republic of Congo The eighth biggest producer of oil in Africa is the Republic of Congo. The country produces about 274, 400 barrels of oil per day. The country has also been unstable from war while now with a coup taking place. The stable economy being enjoyed now has been part of improving the oil sector with more investors considering the country as an investment point. Gabon Gabon is the ninth biggest producer of oil in Africa. The country produces about 241, 700 barrels of oil each and every day. South Africa Top ten from the bottom is South Africa producing about one hundred and ninty one thousand barrels of oils each and every day. South Africa is one of Africa’s richest countries. The country is looking into more prospects with the opening up of new oil wells to expand the business. They are currently importing oil and have not reached a capacity to export any oil. The country requires about five hundred and seventy six thousand barrels per day to run the country. The deficit is bought from other countries. Source:therichest.com

The death toll from the Ebola outbreak in West Africa has risen to 6,331 in the three worst hit countries, with Sierra Leone overtaking Liberia as the country with the highest number of cases, World Health Organization figures showed on Monday. The cumulative number of cases in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone totalled 17,800, including 7,719 in Liberia and 7,798 in Sierra Leone, WHO said.

On Friday, WHO put the three countries’ combined death toll at 6,187, out of 17,517 cases. Just over half the reported deaths were in Liberia, but the true toll in Sierra Leone, with an estimated fatality rate of 70 percent, is likely to be far higher than the figures show, WHO experts told Reuters.

Mend Your Relationship On Auntie Odo’s Show on Highlife Radio

At what cost Marriage is for better for worse as many of us know it to be. But in today's worldview does this vow still hold? When does one stay in a marriage because they want to make it work especially because of the children? Do you overlook your partners shortcomings because you took a vow? Do you stay in a marriage that's not working because of fear of being judge by society? Or is it the fear of starting life all over again on your own? I know these are just a few reasons among many why people choose to stay in a marriage.

But when a spouse has forgiven for the sake of the children, even allowed the child conceived outside of the marriage into her home and accepted him or her as her own, he still goes around town having multiple affairs, does she stay or leave? Bear in mind that now the most important reason why she was staying is no longer valid. The children are now grown and well into their early 20s . They see all these infidelities of their father, the pain in their mothers eyes each and every night as she waits for the man she loved and cherished to come.

Listening to Aunty Odo show on highlife radio, this makes one wonder and ask so at what cost does one stay in a marriage?

Sierra Leone has banned public celebrations over Christmas and the New Year, because of the Ebola crisis.

Soldiers are to be deployed on the streets throughout the festive period to keep people indoors, officials say.

Christmas is widely celebrated in Sierra Leone, even though Islam is the largest religion.

Sierra Leone has the most cases of Ebola in the current outbreak. Some 6,580 have died, mostly in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

President Ernest Bai Koroma told traditional leaders to stop traditional practices as part of efforts to end Ebola in the country, Awoko newspaper reports.

The president added that despite international aid, it seemed "as if the cases are increasing", especially in north-western areas such as Port Loko and the Bombali region.

The 71-year-old former general, a Muslim from the north, seized power in 1983 but was himself deposed in a coup less than two years later.

He was up against four other candidates in the vote at the All Progressives Congress (APC) party convention in Lagos.

In the previous election, Mr Jonathan defeated Mr Buhari, with almost 59% of the vote against 32%, sparking widespread unrest in northern areas which backed Mr Buhari.

Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, fell far short, with only 954 votes out of 8,000.

Mr Abubakar congratulated his opponent on Twitter after the vote and said: "The delegates have spoken, you fully deserve the victory."

This will be the fourth time Mr Buhari contests a presidential election - he is yet to win.

In an important symbol of our commitment and enduring relationship with Morocco, U.S. Ambassador to Morocco Dwight L. Bush, Sr., and Principal Deputy Director of the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) Heather Townsend, alongside local officials, dedicated the new U.S. Embassy in Rabat today.

The new multi-building complex provides employees with a safe, secure, and modern workplace. The campus is situated on a site of just under 8 acres, on King Mohammed IV Road, approximately 3 miles from the Rabat city center. With a project budget of $181 million, it includes a Chancery, a U.S. Marine Security Guard residence, and a service/utility building.

The project incorporates numerous sustainable features to conserve resources and reduce operating costs, including large vegetated roofs over the underground parking structures, and a white roof and light-colored exterior to reflect solar heat. Automated air-conditioning and heating systems will reduce operating costs. All water used on-site is treated and used for site irrigation. Harbert International of Birmingham, Alabama constructed the multi-building campus.

Since 1999, as part of the Department’s Capital Security Construction Program, OBO has completed 118 new diplomatic facilities and has an additional 41 projects in design or under construction. OBO’s mission is to provide safe, secure, and functional facilities that represent the U.S. Government to the host nation and support our staff in the achievement of U.S. foreign policy objectives. These facilities should represent American values and the best in American architecture, engineering, technology, sustainability, art, culture, and construction execution.

President Jonathan Signs Bill Making It A Crime To Reject Accident Victims In Hospitals

Following the signing into law of the National Health Bill, several groups and individuals have come out to commend President Goodluck Jonathan.

One of such groups is the Health Sector Reform Coalition (HSRC) which warned that from now on “there should be no more rejection of accident and emergency victims by both public and private hospitals; no excuse for failure of health services for Nigerians.” adding that the new law “Provides for severe punishment and imprisonment for removal of human organs and prohibits reproductive and therapeutic cloning of human kind.”

The Executive Secretary of HSRC, Dr. Muhammed Lecky who spoke to newsmen in Abuja said: “Now that we have the Healthcare Act, we expect that health services for Nigerians would be transformed; there should be no excuse for failure as the new health law provides funding from the Federal Government (with counterpart funding from state and LGs) for guaranteed basic minimum healthcare for all. Children below the age of five, pregnant women, the elderly and people with disabilities would receive free health care,” he said.

He continued: “The new health law empowers the Minister of Health to promptly resolve, within a forthnight, any industrial action in the health sector, which is one of the persistent challenges confronting healthcare development in Nigeria. As a CSO platform, we accept that the journey to this point has been tortuous which has turned out to be well worth it. We also recognise that the Health Act remains a framework for which we need to quickly reorganise, reenergise and refocus to take on the undoubtedly arduous task ahead of developing appropriate policy guidance and mechanisms to make the Health Act work.

“We in the Health Sector Reform Coalition as the watchdog of the national health system, pledge our commitment to work with constituted government authorities at federal, state and local levels and with other stakeholders in assuring space for meaningful engagements at national, state and local levels in ensuring the people’s ownership and for the full operationalisation, implementation and accountability on the National Health Law.” Source: http://graphic.com.gh/

What will Obama's executive action do?

The typical undocumented immigrant has now been living in the United States for nearly 13 years. More than half of undocumented immigrants are from Mexico, according to the Department of Homeland Security. The rest are largely from other countries in Latin America and Asia. Meanwhile, the Obama administration has been deporting more and more people. Deportations began to increase during the President Bush's second term, and federal law enforcement deported more than 400,000 in 2012, the most ever in one year.

Most illegal immigrants are relatively young in the United States, between 16 and 44. There are shy of a million undocumented immigrants under 16, and just a bit less over 55.

A majority of illegal immigrants have resided in the United States for under 10 years, with the largest group residing in the U.S. between 5 and 9 years. But notably, the action will not:

The Migration Policy Institute came out with new estimates Wednesday that suggests that about 4 million undocumented immigrants would be directly affected by the action. According to the group, there are 3.71 million undocumented immigrants who have children who are U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents.

Aside from the 1.2 million young immigrants already eligible for protection under the existing DACA program, 6.2 million of the estimated 11.4 million undocumented immigrants would not qualify for protection under the current programs.

choosing where to focus their efforts. The cops don't stop every car that is traveling 66 miles per hour on the interstate. District attorneys might choose to drop charges against someone who has committed a minor infraction if they're busy with a case against a mob boss.

It's a concept known as prosecutorial discretion. Conservatives, though, argue that issuing a blanket reprieve for millions of immigrants isn't exercising prosecutorial discretion -- it's rewriting the law. It's a tricky distinction, in any case.

The Obama administration will also likely claim that the executive action is based on existing immigration law as explicitly written.

President Reagan and later President George H.W. Bush relied on this explicit authority when they unilaterally exempted roughly 1.5 million undocumented immigrants from deportation after passing a law granting amnesty to millions more. The action were not especially controversial at the time.

These questions ultimately may bear little weight on whether Obama's action is actually carried out. The only way that the courts could stop Obama is if he were sued. And while House Republicans have contemplated suing him, legal experts say a challenge would be how they would assert standing in court, given that they haven't been harmed in any specific way.

One possibility is that states such as Texas could sue the president, arguing that they will have to pay for education and health care for the newly legal undocumented immigrant population.

Will the order mean that undocumented immigrants get Obamacare?

No. Although the federal government does pay for health care for many undocumented immigrants and has for years, they won't receive subsidies through Obamacare under this executive action. Jason Millman has more.

How will this executive action affect the economy?

It's probably too early to say anything about this particular order, but as Wonkblog has written previously, comprehensive immigration reform generally would benefit the economy.

It would help stabilize the federal debt by encouraging more younger workers to come the country, who will pay taxes without drawing on Social Security and Medicare for many years. It would raise the wages of workers already in the country. Leaders in both parties recognize these facts. "Immigration reform will help our economy," House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said in September. What do Americans think of all this?

Most people do think undocumented immigrants should be allowed to stay and should eventually receive citizenship. Public support declined during the summer when child migrants were overwhelming detention facilities, but has since recovered. Max Ehrenfreund Washington Post

Professor Daniel Ampomah, PhD, RN, NE-BC, teaches at Chamberlain College of Nursing’s Arlington campus, guiding students who are in their last semesters of nursing school.

On the weekends, his voice travels around the globe as he shares health information through his talk show on Ghana Tourist Coach Radio.

Every Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., from the studios in Alexandria, Virginia, Dr. Ampomah hosts a segment called “Your Health Is Your Wealth.”

Like him, many of his listeners are members of the large Ghanaian community in Northern Virginia. The show is also streamed online, attracting an audience from across the United States and even all the way to Africa.

During his broadcast, Dr. Ampomah discusses health-related topics that are of universal concern – such as the flu – and also ones that are specific to his community.

“I come from Ghana,” he said. “The biggest issue that affects us the most is hypertension. It’s a killer in the Ghanaian community. Ghanaians’ eating habits are not the best, and then when we come to the U.S., we also have lifestyle changes. Diabetes is also common. These are two major, major disease processes that are endemic to my community.”

The show allows Dr. Ampomah another opportunity to play what he sees as the central role of nurses: to touch the hearts of individuals and help make their lives better.

Afrikan Post

O

Dr. Miriam C. Gyimah

ver a year ago, during a telephone conversation with my mother, she asked me about how a particular situation in my life was going. All I heard come out of my mouth was “mom, I think God has set me up!” Immediately, we both burst out in laughter, I more so to keep from crying, and I went on to explain to her how I didn’t understand why after much prayer, meditation and waiting, the Lord had led me on the wrong path. I am sure I have quite a few witnesses who would agree with me here. The fact is that sometimes it seems the Lord sets us up rather than hook us up. For those who are not clear on the colloquial expression, a “set up” is when someone positions you for a downfall, as in a temptation where they know you will not be able to overcome, a clandestine arrangement that will lead to your arrest in case you are doing something illegal, or an orchestration of events that will surely cause you great difficulties or even embarrassment or shame. A “hook up”, on the other hand, is a favorable positioning as in an arrangement to get a good job or promotion, a wonderful mate, a connection to a great network that will yield a valuable advancement in your social, professional, or personal life. We expect the Good Lord, our Father who is in heaven to lead us not into temptation, but to deliver us from evil. But why then does it seem and feel that even with our focus and devotion to God and the things of God, even with prayer, meditation, fasting and even with waiting on him and clearly hearing His voice and seeing His hand direct us to a certain path, when we enter that path, we find that this is not a good path for us at all, that this is not a path on which we are thriving, but one on which we are stressing, suffering, fighting for survival. So we cry out loud, we weep silently, complain bitterly and wonder why after our pursuit of God’s voice and direction, He has led us on a thorny and painful path. He has set us up! In the Old Testament’s book of Ruth, Naomi, the mother-in-law of Ruth, once felt that the Lord had set her up. A true woman of God, Naomi sojourned with her husband and sons in search of greener pastures at Moab, but in the course of

Is it a Set Up or a Hook Up? Her Page

time, not only did they lose all their wealth, but her husband and sons died as well leaving her with nothing with the exception of her two daughters- in-law, Orpah and Ruth. Naomi declared to her daughters-in-law that “the Lord’s hand has turned against me” (Ruth 1: 13). With no prospects in Moab, Naomi returns to Bethlehem with Ruth, who refuses to be separated from her. Upon her return, a despondent Naomi tells her welcoming friends not to call her Naomi, but rather Mara (the meaning of Naomi is pleasant while Mara means bitter.), for “I went away full, but the Lord has brought me back empty”…The Lord has afflicted me; the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me” (Ruth 1:21). As we witness here, Naomi’s experience has changed not only her outlook on life where life is no longer pleasant, but it has also affected her sense of self and identity. The devastation of the loss of wealth, security, and the lives of her husband and sons have left her empty and bitter. To Naomi, God has not dealt well with her. But what Naomi perceives as a set up is indeed a hook up. It is nearly impossible to see the bright side of such devastation. We might ask, what is the purpose of losing one’s home and resources and what is the purpose and benefit of a woman losing not only her husband but her children as well? And how could a loving and kind God who is supposed to deliver us from evil allow such calamity to befall us? But what this story affirms is the mysterious ways of God, for God wanted to bless Naomi in a very special way that would not have been possible had she not returned to Bethlehem. The Lord had in store and had determined even before the birth of Naomi herself that she would be established in the genealogical line of King David and Jesus Christ, our Savior, an invaluable honor and blessing. It took the Lord taking Naomi and her family to Moab to acquire Ruth as a daughter-in-law, Ruth who it is said of that she “is better than seven sons” (Ruth 4:15). It is only understandable to God why He had such favor on Naomi and Ruth and why that favor was to be realized through such devastation. Thus, with the eventual marriage of Ruth to Boaz and the birth of their son Obed, the women celebrate and affirm to Naomi that God has indeed hooked her up as they say, “blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel. And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age…” (Ruth 4:1516). Naomi’s tears are wiped away for not only has she been redeemed, but she has also been promoted because of God’s favor upon her life. In one of his sermons, Bishop T.D. Jakes said, “favor ain’t fair.” What Bishop Jakes expressed is that sometimes, it isn’t because of what you know, but who you

know that will bring about your blessing, your hook up. In other words, you may not be the most qualified person for a position, but because of God’s favor on your life, you will ascend to places that you never expected, and even exceed the expectations of those who know you. And so with the story of Joseph, Jacob’s favorite son, we learn that favor indeed isn’t fair. First, the favor Jacob had for Joseph was so unfair to his brothers that they hated him. The favor that God also had for Joseph and therefore his future, revealing through dreams that Joseph would be the greatest of all his brothers and that even his parents would bow to him, was so unfair and even objectionable to his brothers that they wanted to kill him, but instead sold him into slavery. What had Joseph done to deserve such favor and, even more, what had Joseph done to deserve such disdain? God’s and Jacob’s favor towards Joseph caused him a lot of pain. The set up is the pain and cruelty he suffered, that a young teenager who is in the will of God should be separated from those he loved and be made a slave. Yet, because God’s favor was on Joseph even as a slave, he became a great man in a foreign land. And yet again, even when he lived in this favor, he was once again set up as he was falsely accused and imprisoned simply because he wouldn’t sin against his God. One would ask, where was the favor of God upon Joseph when he had to spend years in prison for something that he didn’t do? But the set up, as painful as it was, was a hook up, for the Lord, wanting to position Joseph in an even higher place than his former role, reserved a prison cell for him, and it is from this cell that he emerged to his next promotion as second in command in Egypt. And it is while serving in this role that he is able to save the very brothers who sold him into slavery. We can refer to other biblical experiences such as David’s own. In the book of 1st Samuel, minding his own business in the field and quite satisfied as the shepherd of his family, David was thrown into turmoil when the Lord sent the Prophet Samuel to hook up David by anointing him king to replace Saul. But what sort of hook up was this? This seventeen year old shepherd now had to run from cave to cave, wilderness to wilderness, in fear for his life, because of a jealous and murderous Saul. For thirteen years, David was pursued and throne less until Saul finally died. Was he set up? One would argue that he was. But then again, in the mind of God, He was hooking David up. Two weeks prior to writing this article, I was catching up with a friend I had not spoken with in two years. She also asked me about that particular subject that I mentioned my mother inquired about. I confessed to my friend that sometime back I believed that the Lord had inexplicably set me up. But after months and months of questioning God and praying, the Lord directed me to 1st Samuel. I

December 2014

Page

told her how repeatedly around 3 to 4 o’clock in the morning, the Lord will wake me up and direct me to read 1st Samuel. In the beginning, I would refuse and stubbornly stay in bed, although unable to fall asleep again. When I did obediently rise up from the bed and go to my prayer room and read, it took me a while after repeatedly reading that book before I understood what God was communicating to me. He was revealing to me that like David, though He had directed me on a certain path, my blessing was not to be gained overnight. It would take some time of struggle, frustration, and even tears before this hook up completely comes to fruition. Interestingly, as soon as I got off the phone with my friend, the Lord dropped in my heart that this subject was one to write about and share with others and at that moment, He also provided the title, “is it a set up or a hook up?” So here it is and here I stand. I stand understanding that the Lord truly works in mysterious ways. I stand understanding that the Lord’s favor rests on His children even when we don’t seem to see or feel it. I stand understanding that even with Naomi, Joseph, David and many others, the love of God and the promises that God Himself has determined for us will come to pass. Sometimes, it might appear that you have been thrown off course. It might appear that God has turned against you, that He has set you up. But then we have to pause and seriously question, is it really a set up or a hook up?

Mom Sells Breast Milk To Pay For Children's Christmas Presents December 2014

The Manchester mother also admitted that some clients purchase the milk to use for 'sexual purposes'.

'What they do with the milk is up to them,' she said. 'I'm not going to discriminate. There's no difference for anyone who wants to use the milk, from a bodybuilder to someone who wants to use it sexually.'

She also used her appearance on the ITV flagship show to hit out at those who say drinking breast milk is revolting, saying that drinking the substance is completely 'natural'.

'Some think drinking breast milk is disgusting,' Ms Hudson explained. 'That's their problem. It's natural and full of vitamins.'

She also revealed how much she makes from her unusual business. 'For a 5oz bottle, I would make £12.50,' she told a clearly impressed Philip Schofield.

'So for a usual pop can, that would be £27.50. I've made over £3,000. The exact figure is around £3,700 or something.'

A cash-strapped mother-of-four has revealed that she is planning to fund Christmas by selling her breast milk.

Rebecca Hudson, 26, from Manchester, appeared on This Morning and revealed that she has so far made £3,700.

The entrepreneurial mother came up with the idea after realising that she was producing more milk than her youngest child Milly, now one, needed.

She sells the milk for £12.50 a bottle and has amassed a devoted group of eight clients, among them a bodybuilder.

Ms Hudson isn't the first person to make a profit from breast milk. Mommy Milk Creations was set up by mother-of-three Allicia Mogavero earlier this year and uses the substance to make jewellery.

Each piece is made by hand and takes up to five hours to create. Ms Mogavero then sells the jewels for $160 (£97) each.

So popular has the company become, Ms Mogavero has a 12-month waiting list. Mothers can also pay to have their own breast milk used in the jewellery. Source:www.yahoonews.com

60-Year-Old Woman Gives Birth After 31 Years Of Marriage

60-year-old Mrs Omolara Irurhe who had been looking for a child for over 30 years gave birth to a baby girl this past Monday June 16th through the Invitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment at a Specialist Hospital in Lagos. 'The Nation' reports that Mrs Irurhe, who has been married for 31 years, started the IVF treatment in 2010 and said her faith in God and her believe in modern medicine helped her go through the process, after many years of childlessness in marriage. She said her husband, Mr Adekunle Irurhe’s Catholic belief of one man one wife made him not to marry another woman and stood by her through all the years. “I believe we should not limit God and what the doctors can do in this modern age. I believe this is the appointed time. I was very hopeful throughout the years I was childless and I remained focused on God. We went to many hospitals but we didn’t give up,” she said An elated Mr

Adekunle Irurhe said though there were pressures to get another wife, he was determined to stay with his wife alone as that was the practice of his own parents. He said his wife’s belief in the In vitro fertilization method made him support her. “I supported her throughout because my wife was dogged and she believed in herself. When I saw her faith, I had no choice but to go with her. She kept telling me she would have her child. I wasn’t thinking of another wife. I came from a monogamous family and I decided she is all I will have. The family was understanding too and we fought together to get this baby”. -

Mrs. Louisa Maame Yaa Ussher (nee Aboagye) was born on 21st September, 1972 in Accra, Ghana, to Isaac and Elizabeth Aboagye. Louisa's early years were spent in Labone, Accra, where she attended Christ the King International School until she left for Banjul, The Gambia, in 1983 to complete her primary school education, passing as one of the top 5 students in the country. She attended the Gambia High School for a year before returning to Ghana in 1985 to complete her high school education at Aburi Girls Secondary School (O' Levels) and St. Mary's Secondary School (A' Levels). Louisa was artistically gifted and, upon completion of her high school education, followed her passion to enroll in the Fashion Designing degree program at the London Fashion Institute of Technology (UK). In her final year of the program, she opted to study abroad in Atlanta, GA, and remained there post-graduation. After a few years of working for various apparel firms in Atlanta, Louisa was ready for a career change. Her caring nature led to a switch into the healthcare sector. She moved to Northern Virginia to complete a Registered Nursing (RN) program at Marymount University and remained a practicing RN for over 15 years, primarily focusing on home health care for special situation patients. In 2000, after her marriage to her childhood sweetheart Frank Ussher, she moved to Philadelphia, PA, to join Frank who was enrolled in a Master's degree at Temple University at the time. When Frank completed his degree, the couple returned to Northern Virginia to start a family and was blessed with 3 beautiful daughters – Jordan (12), Samara (8) and Kezia (6). Throughout her life, Louisa's Christian faith remained steadfast and she was a long-time member of The Church of the Living God, NOVA branch, where she had been very active in the women's and music ministries as the church organist. She was well known for her bubbly personality, selflessness and willingness to help members of her church family in any situation. Louisa's passions remained serving the Lord through her ministries and caring for her family. She was especially passionate about spending time with Frank and the kids during vacations. In particular, she was fond of Christmas festivities with her kids - decorating the tree, wrapping gifts, filling stockings and opening gifts on Christmas day.

On 29th November, 2014, after a short hospital stay, Louisa was called home to glory. She is survived by her husband, daughters, parents, siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, church family and a host of colleagues and dear friends ... she will be greatly missed.

Starrfmonline.com – Renowned American charismatic preacher, Bishop T. D. Jakes has commended efforts by the Christian Action Faith Ministries (CAFM) to spur development in the country. The Senior Pastor of global humanitarian organisation, Potter’s House, is in Ghana for the much-anticipated IMPACT 2014 Summit organised by Action Chapel International.

Bishop Jakes told journalists at the headquarters of CAFM that he was impressed with the economic development in the country as well as efforts by the church to impact society positively.

“It’s very exciting to see the correlation between faith and community, to see a church that has a vision to include banks and hospitals and care for its people in practical ways.”

“It’s cutting edge thought at a needed time in any country, and so though I’ve only been here an hour or so, I’m really excited about the development that I’ve seen going on in the country, and in the church, and I think that they, one can lift the other, and vice versa without contradicting its tenets and elements of existence,” he observed.

Living Ladies Ends Annual Women’s Conference December 2014

Page 25

The Christian Journal, Mount Vernon -

Living Ladies of Living Faith International Church ended their annual women’s conference with the theme Repositioning. The Conference at Mount Vernon was to encourage the women with knowledge to understand the blessings of God.

The Event featured a lineup of dynamic women speakers, Rev. Mrs. Naomi Allotey, Rev. Mrs. Rita Ankrah and Rev. Mrs. Faith Ngwale. These women speakers were on fire as last year. The event was energy driven, and high impact as usual.

Every time God wants to move in our lives, He expects us to be already positioned. We only need to take the correct position to receive God’s Blessings the women were encouraged. As believers we can stay on track and properly positioned ourselves for God’s blessing, we should keep praying, and living a life anchored in God’s love and mercy. I am convinced the Holy Spirit wants to position each of us for God’s blessings in the coming year, Said one of the speakers. The conference was also to show gratitude to God for his protection over this ministry and to ask for his guidance and strength towards entering into a new year.

Blessings begin with the fear of the Lord and delighting in God’s law. Our children will also partake of those blessings and riches will abound. We need not run after riches ,but riches need run after us as we run after God. The Conference was to mobilize women of God from all walks of life to share fellowship, equip them with the word of God and reposition them to receive God’s Blessing.

After the conference, one could sense the speakers have infuse into these ladies lives with greater direction and purpose. Speaking in an interview with The Christian Journal, Bishop Dominic Allotey said the five-day event which started on Wednesday was aimed at stirring up spiritual strength of the Women at Living Faith International Church.

The Law Office of Samira Sulemana has called on undocumented immigrants and their families living in the United States of America that intend to take advantage of President Obama’s recent executive order on immigration to seriously consider using the services of an immigration attorney.

Samira Sulemana, who is an Attorney at Law, said “hiring an attorney can make all the difference between being approved for your visa or being deported”. The Ghanaian based US lawyer says the Obama executive order will protect a lot of undocumented persons living in the USA illegally from the threat of deportation, as well as give them the opportunity to stop living in the shadows.

President Barack Obama sidestepped Congress on November 20, 2014 to announce steps he will take to shield immigrants living and working illegally in the United States from deportation, thus defying Republican lawmakers by using executive orders.

Azumah Nelson’s legendary status as boxer was cemented further at the 52nd World Boxing Council (WBC) Convention at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas last Monday when he was named alongside the late Alexis Arguello as the WBC Super Featherweight Boxer of all time.

In recognition of his legendary status, Azumah, a former two-time WBC Super Featherweight champion, and the former WBC featherweight champion during his illustrious career, was decorated with a new glittering title belt embossed with his photo, as well as those of American boxing icon, Muhammad Ali, Arguello and the late WBC president, Jose Sulaiman.

The 56-year-old Azumah held the WBC Super Featherweight title for nine years, losing it the second and last time to American Genaro Hernandez in 1997.

Arguello, a Nicaraguan, who held the WBC Super Featherweight title from 1978 to 1980, was an undefeated three-time world champion, and regarded as one of the greatest fighters of his era. He died in 2009.

A citation which accompanied the special belt read, “the World Boxing Council honours Azumah Nelson for being chosen by the fans as one of the greatest WBC Super Featherweight Champions of all time. His face will be featured on all the Super Featherweight champion belts from now on”.

Professor Azumah expressed his gratitude to Ghanaians for their immense support during his stellar career and dedicated the honour to his compatriots.

A day after his honour, the ‘Professor of Boxing’ launched his biography -- The Professor -- at the sidelines of the WBC Convention, which honoured other boxing legends such as Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis (heavyweight division), Salvador Sanchez and Jeff Fenech (featherweight division), Evander Holyfield and Juan Carlos Gomez (cruiserweight), Roy Jones and Michael Spinks (Lt. heavyweight).

Current greats also honoured included Barmane Stiverne, Floyd Mayweather Jnr and Miguel Cotto . The WBC Convention was recorded by Guinness Book of Record as the sporting event with over 100 past and present champions at one location.

TOY REVIEW: DIGIPALS

Afrikan

Post

Digipals are cute and cuddly carrying cases for mobile phones and other devices like digital cameras. The Digipal comes in four designs: a monkey, penguin, owl, and turtle. AfrikanPost had the opportunity to review the Digipals in the turtle

and monkey style. The purpose of the Digipal is to provide a safe place to store your mobile device and other digital devices, preferably. Many times, people are forced to throw their mobile phones into bags, purses, and suitcases without any protection. The Digipals carrying case has two compartments, the main compartment is for the phone/digital device , and the secondary compartment is for smaller items like currency and id cards. The Digipal is unique in the sense that the inside of the carrying case serves as a cleaning cloth, constructed with microfibers. Once the digital device is inside the carrying case, all one has to do is rub the carrying case against their device, in order to clean it. The carrying case not only protects the surface of the gadget but it cleans it as well. The Digipals are great for both boys and girls, regardless of the country they reside in. With many kids having iPhones nowadays, the Digipals provide a way for kids to keep their phones and other digital gadgets scratch free.

SIMPLE STEPS TO MAKE HOME OWNERSHIP A REALITY December 2014

Anita A. Bediako- REALTOR® –Licensed in the Common Wealth of Virginia Prince William County-Local Expert CONTACT 571-229-6694; Email: abediako@pwrealty.com

Dear Reader, It is heartfelt joy I ink this piece of real estate literature to you. Over the year, I have had people asked me questions about how to get back into the market after foreclosure or short sale. Indeed, the last few years have created a volatile market condition and a great concern for home owners and individuals interested in pursuing real estate investment. I share your concerns, the frustrations and empathize with you for losing your hard earned money/ down payment and losing your home and entire real estate investment (s). The good news is that things have changed since you left the market due to foreclosure or short sale or whatever the reason was that made you lose your home. Though the government has tightened the lending rules to eliminate predatory lenders who prey on consumers, it is NOT DIFFICULT to secure a loan to purchase a real estate property. I hope that this information will be useful to your search to venture back to the real estate market. Now, is the best time to definitely get back into the market with record low interest rate and reasonable pricing of houses. Here are your options to get back to buying a home again: FHA’s Back to Work Program: FHA is willing to back loans for borrowers with as little as 3.50% down payment one year after having had a short sale, bankruptcy, or foreclosure. Eligibility require proof of Economic Event which is beyond your control that resulted in a Loss of Employment, Loss of Income or a combination of both, which causes a reduction in the your Household Income of 20% or more for a period of at least 6 months. Note: If you did a prior short sale or were delinquent on a prior FHA loan, you will not be able to buy after one year with this program using an FHA loan. Rather, you will have to wait the standard 3 years after a short sale was completed to apply for a mortgage and 2 years for a chapter 7 bankruptcy and after 1 year on a chapter 13 with court’s pre-approval.

FHA loan one year after a short sale with 3.5% down payment with NO LATE PAYMENTS prior to short sale: eligibility requirements include documentation of hardship condition, NOT late r mortgage payments at the time of the short sale, proceeds from the short sale served as payment in flu for the loan, you have a clear CAIVRS report (Credit Alert Verification Reporting System), and you have an M1 mortgage credit rating for that previous account.

Page

32

VA Loan TWO years after a short sale with Zero Down payment: You can buy a house after a short sale with a 2 year waiting period from a major derogatory event including short sale, bankruptcy, or foreclosure. Buying a House with a VA Loan ONE year or less after a short sale with Zero Down payment: If your former loan on the home you short sold was either a VA loan or a non- VA loan, your wait time may be less than 2 years if you have a clear CAIVRS AND HARDSHIP DOCUMENTATION. CAIVRS is a report pulled by lenders for government loans (FHA, VA USDA) to verify that the borrower does not currently owe money to the government for previous mortgage, student loans, liens, etc. and documentation detailing the circumstance of the short sale.

Buying a house in 2014 after your short sale in 2010, 2011 or earlier years: Those who have completed a short sale in 2009, 2010, 2011, and earlier years are most likely ready to apply for a loan after a 3 year waiting period has passed from the date of the short sale. You may now be able to buy a home again in 2014 and apply for a loan without consideration of any special circumstances.

Buying a house in 2014 after short sale in 2013 with extenuating circumstances: Your wait time to buy a house and qualify for a mortgage after a short sale in 2013 could only be 12 months to 24 months if you can prove that you have extenuating circumstances that led to your short sale. For example, extenuating circumstances are major illness or death of a wage earner, nonrecurring situations that leads to a sudden, significant, and prolonged reduction in income or catastrophic increase in your mortgage payments and other financial obligations. Note that divorce or a job relocation are not typically viewed by lenders as sufficient extenuating circumstances. Buying a House with a Conventional Loan after a short sale: You may be able to buy a house 2 years after a short sale with 10% down payment if you can document and verify acceptable extenuating circumstances prior to your short sale. It is even better if you have 20% down payment which helps to avoid expensive mortgage insurance on loans with less than 20% down payment. Some lenders give you the flexibility of coming up with the 20% down payment using a combination of pledged personal assets. With Fannie/Freddie Loans, you will have to wait 4 years if you only have 10% down payment or possibly wait just 2 years if you have extenuating circumstances that lead to the short sale of your home. As of August 16, 2014 Fannie Mae Desktop Underwriter (DU) has amended the underwriting guideline. They will no longer treat a mortgage included in a short sale that is reporting as a 9, “Charge Off”, on the credit report as foreclosure. The wait time on a short sale apply. However, 20% down payment is needed for 2 years, 10% down payment for 4 years and 5% down payment for 7 years. I hope you have enjoyed this piece and realized that there is still light at the end of the tunnel if you did experience a foreclosure or short sale. I also hope this has been a useful resource to you. If you need assistance with making your home ownership a reality, call me at 571-229-6694 or email me at ABEDIAKO@PWREALTY.COMand I will help you get started. Thank you.

African Immigrant Population Doubling Each Decade; D.C. Area Among Group’s Top Destinations By Pamela Constable October 1

The number of African-born residents in the United States has doubled every decade since the 1970s, with the greater Washington region remaining among the most popular areas for them to live, the U.S. Census Bureau reported Wednesday.

The African immigrant population nationwide has grown steadily, from about 80,000 in 1970 to 1.6 million today nationwide, but the rate has accelerated and the highest growth has occurred in the past decade, the federal agency reported.

As in past years, those from just four countries — Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ghana and Egypt — account for 41 percent of the total, although their enclaves are scattered in diverse regions, from major urban centers to remote parts of North and South Dakota. The new survey data was collected between 2008 and 2012.

The great majority of African residents arrived legally. Most are U.S. permanent residents or citizens, or hold work or educational visas. Some, especially the large numbers of Ethiopians, fled a succession of conflicts over the years and have been resettled here as refugees.

Maryland, with 120,000 African-born residents, is one of only four states where their population tops 100,000, after New York, California and Texas. Both Maryland and Virginia are among the 10 states that have the highest percentages of such populations, with 15 percent and 9 percent, respectively.

The Washington metropolitan region is also the second-most popular destination for African-born immigrants, after New York City and ahead of Los Angeles, Atlanta and Minneapolis. More than 161,000 African-born people live in the District and nearby suburbs, with Ethiopians leading at 35,200, followed by Nigerians with 19,600 and Ghanians with 18,400.

“In much of Africa, capital cities are where you can ahead in education or careers, so Africans who come to America assume Washington is the place to go,” said Jill Wilson, a specialist on Africa and senior research analyst at the Brookings Institution in Washington. “It is also a more manageable place for them than urban jungles like New York. It is cosmopolitan without being overwhelming.”

Wilson and others said Africans were first drawn to the D.C. area because they felt welcomed by institutions such as Howard University and political leaders like former District Mayor Marion Barry, who served from 1979 to 1991. One local African immigrant leader, Nigeria-born Samuel Adewusi, described Barry’s tenure as “inclusive and Africa friendly.”

Adewusi, who heads the regional chapter of the non-

profit group Nigerians in Diaspora, said some Nigerians were recruited as nurses and stayed. Once here, he added, Africans tended to become permanent residents and raise families. Many who came to attend college went on to secure government jobs, abandoning their original plans to return home.

“We feel appreciated and protected here,” he said. “There are plenty of African stores and restaurants. You put down roots and it becomes like a second home.”

The census report said that, as seen in past surveys, African-born immigrants are more educated than the immigrant population as a whole, with 41 percent having a college or graduate degree compared to 28 percent for immigrants overall. Egyptians rank highest on that scale, with 64 percent having a college education.

However, some groups that arrived as refugees from civil wars and natural disasters, such as those from Somalia and Sierra Leone, have lower education levels. The survey said less than 40 percent of Somalis here had finished high school.

Ethiopians, despite their history of flight from serial conflicts, have achieved extraordinary cultural success, turning parts of the Washington area into bastions of Ethopian food and fashion. Although enclaves have formed in Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles and other cities, many Ethiopians refer to the District as a second Addis Ababa, their homeland’s capital.

“We love our birth country, but we love America and we especially love Washington,” said Dawit Gizaw, director of the Ethiopian Community Services and Development Council in the District. “People move here from other states, because we can get everything Ethiopian here.”

The survey did not detail the reasons that African-born people have continued to arrive in large numbers, but experts and previous studies have pointed to family migration as well as educational and work opportunities as major factors, in addition to flight from war.

“When I looked at the new survey, my first reaction was the more things change, the more they stay the same,” said Wilson, who has studying African immigration patterns for years. Aside from some fluctuations refugee origins, she said, most African-born residents still come from the same countries as before, and still do better in education and income than many other immigrants. A Nigerian court martial has sentenced 54 soldiers to death for refusing to fight Boko Haram Islamist militants.

The soldiers, who were found guilty of mutiny, were accused of refusing to help recapture three towns that had been seized by Boko Haram in August.

A lawyer for the soldiers said the 54 would face a firing squad while five others were acquitted.

Troops have complained that they are not being given enough weapons and ammunition to fight Boko Haram.

The group has been waging an insurgency since 2009 and is seeking to create an Islamist state in north-eastern Nigeria.

More than 2,000 people have died in attacks blamed on Boko Haram so far this year and thousands more have been displaced by the fighting.

The court martial began in October and was conducted behind closed doors. Military officials were not available for comment afterwards.

Defence lawyer Femi Falana said the soldiers were all accused of "conspiring to commit mutiny against the authorities of 7 Division, Nigerian Army".

All the soldiers had denied the charges and the sentence is subject to approval by senior officers.

In a similar case in September, 12 soldiers were sentenced to death for mutiny and the attempted murder of a commanding officer in the north-eastern city of Maiduguri.

Basic Principles Of Bible Interpretation - 4 The Principle of Grammar

Rev George K. Annan Ph.D.

When we study a passage, we have to determine the literary style (genre). This, in fact, is the first matter to be settled. In which style of writing were the individual words written? Scripture can be poetry, proverbs, history, parables, sermons, letters, apocalyptic, etc. The determination of the text's literary genre will determine what rules we use to interpret the passage. It is wrong to treat a parable and an epistle in the same way. Each type of literature must be approached differently. For example, one cannot build a doctrine of the afterlife on the interpretation of the rich man and Lazarus. The concept of different compartments in Hades occurs only there in Scripture. We do not know if Christ meant this to be a precise picture of heaven and hell. Each parable is meant to teach a single point, and we are in danger if we take the details too far. The central message of the rich man and Lazarus story is the danger of misusing wealth. On the other hand, each point of an epistle is important, and often the key to one aspect is found in the previous point. Poetry Distinguishing poetry from prose is another important factor of Bible Interpretation. About thirty percent of the Old Testament is written in poetry. Most older versions such as King James Version doesn’t indicate these differences but newer versions such as New Living Translations and New English Bible are using different formats in writing from poetry. You will notice such differences by looking at the narrative book of Genesis and the poetical book Psalms in the newer versions. Since poetry is concerned with emotions rather than the accurate descriptions of the message, it uses more figurative language more than prose. With proper understanding poetry is just as comprehensible as prose and they are easier to be memorized. There are common features of poetry called parallelism and you need to recognized them to help understands the main point of the poetry. • Synonymous parallelism: A line

strengthens, develops, reinforces or repeat the line before it. ¬ Matthew 7:7-8 7/ Ask and it shall be given you; Seek and ye shall find; Knock and it shall be open unto you 8/ for every one that asketh receiveth; and every one who seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.(KJV) ¬ Isaiah 44:22 I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist (NIV) What we have in Matthew 7:7-8 are not 3 steps of different types of prayer. They are simply different ways of saying the same thing. The verses are simply expressing that “God answers our prayers” • Antithetical parallelism.: the most common parallelism in the Bible, where a line contrast the message or the point of the line before it.

¬ Psalm 37:21 The wicked borrow and do not repay. But the righteous give generously. (NIV)

¬ Proverbs 10:1 A wise son maketh a glad father; But a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother (KJV)

• Synthetic parallelism: A line goes further than just repeating or reinforcing but by providing more information on the line before it ¬ Psalm 14:2 The Lord looks down from heaven on the son of men, to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. (NIV)

Christmas in Africa

How Africans Celebrate Christmas

Christmas is celebrated throughout the African continent by Christian communities large and small. There are approximately 350 million Christians in Africa. On Christmas day carols are sung from Ghana on down to South Africa . Meats are roasted, gifts are exchanged and family visits made. The Coptic Christians in Ethiopia and Egypt celebrate Christmas on the 25th of December in their calendar, which is the 7th of January for most of the rest of us. Kwanzaa is not celebrated in Africa, as it's an African-American holiday. And Atlas Mountains in Morocco , there's little chance of anyone enjoying a white Christmas in Africa . Even in some of Africa's predominantly Muslim countries, Christmas is still marked for celebration. In Dakar, Senegal's capital, hawkers are happy to sell plastic trees and inflatable santas. "While secularism may mean elsewhere that each person is free to celebrate his or her own holidays, many in Senegal have interpreted it to mean they should celebrate all holidays."

Gift Giving

Those who can afford it will generally give gifts at Christmas but the holiday is not nearly as commercial as it is in Europe or the Americas. The emphasis is more on the religious aspect of celebrating the birth of Jesus and singing in church, than it is on gift giving. The most common thing bought at Christmas is a new set of clothes to be worn to the church service. Many Africans are too poor to be able to afford presents for their kids and there aren't too many toy stores in rural Africa to shop at anyway. If gifts are exchanged in poorer communities they usually come in the form of school books, soap, cloth, candles and other practical goods.

Christmas Dinner

As in most Christian cultures, celebrating Christmas dinner with friends and family tops the list after attending church. In most countries Christmas is a public holiday and people take the opportunity to visit friends and family. In East Africa goats are quickly snapped up at the local markets and roasted on Christmas day. In South Africa the sun is hot and the beaches are full of families enjoying braais (bbq's) or traditional Christmas dinners with paper hats, mince pies, turkey and plum pudding (a vestige of the British colonial legacy.) In Ghana Christmas dinner is not complete without fufu and okra soup and in Liberia rice, beef and biscuits are the order of the day. Zimbabweans make sure there's plenty of bread, jam and tea to eat along with their goat meat.

Church Services and Caroling

The history of Christianity in Africa dates back to the 1st Century AD. What every missionary has found since that time is that Africans are very spiritual people. (Besides Christianity, the other main religions are Islam and indigenous beliefs).

Going to church is generally the main focus of Christmas celebrations in Africa. Nativity scenes are played out, carols are sung and in some cases dances are performed.

One of my earliest Christmas memories in Malawi is watching groups of young children go door to door to perform dances and Christmas songs dressed in skirts made of leaves and using home made instruments. They received a small gift of money in return. In many countries the processions after the Christmas Eve church service is a joyous occasion of music and dance. In the Gambia for example, people parade with large intricately made lanterns called fanals in the shape of boats or houses. Every country has their own unique celebrations no matter how small their Christian population.

Christmas Decorations

Decorating shop fronts, mango trees, churches and homes is common throughout African Christian communities. You may see fake snow decorating store fronts in Nairobi , palm trees laden with candles in Ghana, or oil palms loaded with bells in Liberia. How to Say Merry Christmas In Akan (Ghana) Afishapa

Post

On the week of November 12-16, 2014, Gateway International Christian Church (GICC) Ladies Ministry embarked on our annual Ladies (Woman 2 Woman) conference. The theme “Breaking Out Unto The Flow" for this year's conference was derived from Isaiah 41:18. The conference was hosted by the anointed man and woman of God-founders Apostle Rev. Dr. Elvis Acheampong and the First lady Prophetess Mrs. Marie Acheampong. Among the special guest speakers were Rev. Jennifer Potter Cox, Evangelist Eve Taylor and Pastor. Rev. Dr. Darlene Day. These preachers used several biblical stories to speak to the core of the need for Women to rise from their minimum to maximus and occupy our wealthy places. There was a miraculous move of God and indeed, the Lord was faithful as He has promised. The ladies were truly empowered by the Word of God that was spoken into our lives. Truly, our lives have never been the same since this conference; waters have truly gushed through any wilderness in our lives and we are experiencing the overflowing of the anointing of God and the blessings He has purposed for us. Amen!

Ivorian football star Didier Drogba is well known for his prolific scoring as a forward for Chelsea, as well as for being captain of the Côte d’Ivoire national team for the last decade. Drogba has the distinction of being highest goal-scorer of any foreign player in the Premier League, and was even voted the best Chelsea player by supporters of the club in 2012. Here are 17 things you didn’t know about Didier Drogba. His mother nicknamed him ‘Tito’ Drogba’s mother, Name, nicknamed him “Tito” after President Broz Tito of Yugoslavia, whom she greatly admired.

He was sent to live with his uncle in France at a young age At age 5, Drogba was sent to live with his professional footballer uncle, Michel Goba, in France. He returned to his family in Abidjan three years later after becoming homesick, but moved back to France after both his parents lost their jobs as bank workers. He was reunited with his parents in 1993 after they moved to France Drogba’s parents moved to Antony, a suburb of Paris, in 1993. He moved back in with them and his siblings, and began playing football on a more frequent basis

He played for Le Mans for four years From 1998-2002, Drogba played in the second division of the French football club Le Mans. The four years were fraught with injury, but it was also his first professional contract, and a rung on the ladder to higher prospects. His next big breaks After Le

Mans, Didier transferred to Ligue 1 soccer club Guingamp, and his record goals attracted Marseille, who bought him for £3.3 million pounds. During his year of playing for Marseille, he scored 19 goals and won the National Union of Professional Footballers Player of the Year Award.

He’s the most expensive Ivorian player in history In the summer of 2004, Drogba signed a contract with Chelsea for $40 million. He turned out to be worth it, though, as he helped the club win its first league title in 50 years. He is Chelsea’s greatest player, according to many In 2012, a poll of 20,000 fans administered by the Chelsea club’s official magazine named Didier Drogba the team’s greatest player ever.

Both his brothers are footballers Drogba’s two younger brothers, Joël and Freddy Drogba, are also footballers. Freddy plays for the French Ligue Youth 1 side Dijon. Drogba was the first African player to score 100 premier league goals In March 2012, he scored his 100th premier league goal in a victory over Stoke City, becoming the 22nd player ever, and the first African, to do so.

He was also the first player to be sent off in a European Cup final for violent conduct In the 117th minute of the 2008 Champions League final, Drogba slapped Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic. Chelsea went on to lose the game in penalties after Capt. John Terry took Drogba’s place in the shootout and missed. Source: http://ghanavibes.com
