State Sales Taxes The State of Florida requires the collection of a retail sales tax on certain items, on the sale, resale, or lease of tangible personal property, and on the rental of real property. All businesses which collect the sales tax must secure a Certificate of Registration (sales tax number) from the Department of Revenue.
