JOHN SHERMAN CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Founded in 2001 by Jack and John Sherman, AFN began as a family-run, regional lender focused on supporting local California communities. While others expanded rapidly during the housing bubble, AFN prioritized manageable, organic growth. After the 2007 market crash, the company remained a strong industry presence, steadily expanding licensing through the right partnerships.
Today, AFN is licensed in all 50 states and Washington, DC, operating a multi-billion-dollar mortgage platform nationwide. Unlike lenders tied closely to rate cycles, AFN’s growth is driven by successful branch partnerships—resulting in more than tripling its employee base in recent years.








CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
John brings more than two decades of mortgage industry experience to AFN. His leadership has guided the company through sustained growth by continuously improving processes, products, and services, positioning AFN as a nationally recognized lender.
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
With over 40 years of industry experience, Twyla oversees AFN’s operational infrastructure, including processing, underwriting, funding, and post-closing. Her leadership ensures efficiency, consistency, and scalability across the organization.
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
A licensed CPA with extensive corporate accounting experience, Gurpreet leads AFN’s financial strategy and oversight. She has played a key role in strengthening financial operations while supporting the company’s continued growth and stability.
CHIEF COMPLIANCE OFFICER & GENERAL COUNSEL
Andy leads AFN’s legal and compliance functions, supporting licensing, regulatory oversight, and marketing compliance nationwide. With deep industry experience, he helps ensure AFN operates with integrity and accountability across all markets.
Charles brings more than 20 years of executive experience in banking, capital markets, and investment strategy. His background spans federal agencies, commercial banking, and private finance, supporting AFN’s long-term growth initiatives.
Scott oversees AFN’s secondary marketing strategy, product development, and pricing execution. With over 25 years of industry experience, he plays a key role in managing market risk and supporting loan officer competitiveness.
Susie leads AFN’s human resources strategy, overseeing recruiting, onboarding, compliance, and employee development. Her leadership supports AFN’s national expansion while maintaining a strong, people-first culture.
