Introduction To AFJROTC STAFF CA- 953

Good day Panthers! I’m Max Maffit, your squadron First Sergeant for the 2020-2021 school year. I’ve been at Vista and in AFJROTC for all four years of high school. I am also the squadron’s resident aviation expert, and I am one of two cadets from CA-953 that were selected to receive the national flight scholarship this year, meaning that I and several other cadets from around the nation would go to college campuses over the summer to train and get my pilot’s license. Anything and everything aviation is where I’m at. As your squadron First Sergeant, I get to help train and maintain all lowerclassmen, especially freshmen who are just joining our unit family. I make sure that we all fall in line with the squadron’s goals and the commander’s outlines for how the year should go.

I am very excited to begin working with everyone, and I hope you all will enjoy it too!

Hello everyone, this is Cadet Jayden Murray and I am currently a Senior at Vista High School and I am going on three years in AFJROTC. Apart from being the current Vice Commander for this school year, I am also in Civil Air Patrol. Some of the pastime hobbies that I enjoy are downhill mountain biking, Anything to do with aviation, and hanging out with my friends. For the 2020 through 2021 school year I plan on getting to know each and every cadet so please say high and feel free to greet me when you see me at School. Also for this year Senior Staff and I plan to improve on the ideas of the last Senior Staff as well as create new ones to ultimately make the Squadron the best it can possibly be and hope you can help along the way. AFJROTC has truly been an amazing experience that I am extremely grateful for and love the family environment that surrounds it. I do really enjoy being part of AFJROTC and hope you do too.

Aloha, I am cadet Captain Kainoa McCauslin of Vista High School´s AFJROTC Squadron CA-953 and Serve as the squadrons’ operations officer. As of June 2020, I am looking forward to turning 18 later this year and also being able to vote in this year's election. In addition to this, I also look forward to graduating high school in June of 2021. I like writing, listening to and playing music. I play on the Drums and Guitar, electric and acoustic. I listen to many various different types of music and artists but most preferably rock music, my favorite band is Metallica. My plans after High School include going to college and being commissioned as an officer in the U.S Military in hopes of becoming a fighter pilot.

Hello, my name is Ryan Paulsen, I am your new squadron commander for the 2020-2021 school year. I have been in AFJROTC for 4 years. I came into the program not knowing what to expect or what it was all about. After the first week in being in the program, I realized that the bond you get with other cadets is unlike any other team I have been part of, from the PT to the field trips you can count on your team no matter what! I can't describe it with words, you just have to be part of it and experience it for yourself. AFJROTC has really changed me for the better. A little background about myself is that my father served in the Marine Corps and is a mechanic so I grew up around cars, and absolutely love them! I wish to Join the Marine Corps as an Officer and retire as a diesel mechanic.

Howdy Cadets! My name is Isabel Carreon and I am happy to serve you as your new Mission Support Officer for this new term of 2020-2021. I have a lot of goals I want to achieve within AFJROTC! First of all, I want to make everyone grow as a leader; when I mean everyone I mean everyone! When I first joined AFJROTC I was extremely shy, childish, and didn’t really have hopes of ever succeeding as a Leader and student.

What made me change is people who positively pushed me to do more! I want to be that person for you now! I want to inform cadets of the opportunities out there and what you can do with them to be a successful high schooler! Some other objectives I have are to fundraise as a squadron, bond, exercise, and get recognition as a cadet/cadet officer!

Everyone deserves recognition in order to get pushed to do more!

Anyhow, a brief summary about me is that besides being your Mission Support Officer I am also the President of Key Club! Key club is a student-led organization that looks very good in college applications so feel free to contact me regarding more information on that. Some fun facts about me are that I love rock, indie, and alternative music. Also, I am also currently learning how to play more guitar and the keyboard.
