Vestas receives 1 GW order in Norway Fosen Vind DA, a joint venture company owned by Statkraft and TrønderEnergyi and the European investor consortium Nordic Wind Power DA, placed a firm and unconditional order for 1001 MW. Consisting of 248 units of V117-3.45 MW and 30 units V112-3.45 MW turbines (all with power optimised mode to 3.6 MW) the order is a testament to the flexibility of Vestas’ product portfolio. “The order affirms the competitiveness of Vestas’ wind power solutions and that wind power provides an attractive long-term energy investment that goes well beyond its climate and sustainability benefits. Investing in wind power simply makes economic sense,” says Klaus Steen Mortensen, President, Vestas Northern Europe.

2,000 working days without Lost Time Injuries Vestas’ test facility in Chennai reached a tremendous safety milestone and highlighted Vestas’ continuous focus on safety. In 2015, Vestas’ workforce increased by 20 percent while Vestas reduced lost time injuries per one million working hours for the 10th year in a row. Among other things, this positive development is driven by dedicated employees, including those at the Vestas Validation and Reliability centre in Chennai, which reached 2,000 working days without Lost Time Injuries. “Accountability, collaboration and teamwork have been key to reaching this milestone. A safe working environment can only be achieved with full commitment from all colleagues in the team. Safety is everybody’s responsibility,” says Consultant at the Validation and Reliability centre, Shahinsha Rasheed. Announced Q1 15

Vestas continues investing in industry-leading innovation Multi-rotor concept demonstration turbine installed in Denmark to assess if we can build an even more cost-efficient turbine by challenging the scaling rules In cooperation with the Technical University of Denmark, Vestas has installed a concept demonstrator to test the technical feasibility to operate and control a multi-rotor turbine. Anders Vedel, Executive Vice President, Vestas Technology & Service Solutions said: “It is essential that Vestas’ product portfolio remains versatile enough to deliver high performance in a wide array of different market conditions – and also innovative enough to succeed in markets with different energy systems and requirements. And we see a great opportunity – and need – to continuously explore alternative concepts to cover the world’s rapidly growing energy demand in a sustainable way, while simultaneously continue lowering the cost of energy our products deliver”.
