W E LCO M E TO T H E FA I R I would like to extend a warm welcome to the ninth Autumn edition of the Affordable Art Fair Singapore. You can expect to discover hundreds of emerging, mid-career and wellknown artists from our 80 galleries from all over the world, and also grow your art knowledge through our art talks, tours and workshops.

With contemporary artwork all under $15,000, the fair is brimming with choices to suit any space, taste and budget! My personal highlights are the #SPOTLIGHT selection of our best new artists debuting at the fair and the cutting edge Young Talent Programme 2018, presented with ION Art. We are excited to have the support of a new partner, Hotel Jen to further expose these artists.

We are also very proud to be supporting the President’s Challenge in their movement to build a more caring and inclusive society. Through an interactive campaign, Lion’s Pride: ‘Art from the Heart’ highlights the benefits of using art as a form of therapy to help the underprivileged and promote mental wellbeing through the language of art.

Our new Creative Hub provides an immersive space for you to explore and grow your creativity and knowledge. There will be talks by artists and galleries, as well as silk screen printmaking demonstrations and art tours. The little ones can visit the Children’s Art Studio and take part in the engaging workshops run by Art Wonderland. Stop by Sarnies’ pop-up café for some amazing coffee, or visit our new Gastro Park where you can grab delicious bites and drinks. There is something to do for all ages at the fair.

W H AT ’ S O N A R T Y- L I C I O U S E V E N I N G In association with Harper’s BAZAAR Our Arty-Licious Evening, in association with Harper’s BAAZAR, is a charity night in support of the President’s Challenge, who aim to build a more caring and inclusive society. The Lion’s Pride campaign, which uses Singapore’s iconic Merlion as its ambassador, will engage visitors through a series of fundraising art workshops – led by artist Diana Francis – to highlight the benefits of using art to enrich lives, help the underprivileged and promote mental wellbeing through art therapy.

On top of that, there will be a live painting demonstration and artist talk by Greg Mallyon (Australia), and lively music and entertaining activities at the Harper’s BAZAAR stand. This evening is perfect for those looking to unwind from the working week in a relaxed and creative atmosphere.

Entrance, Level 2

Artopoly is an conceptual artwork created by artist Zeus (Dean Zeus Colman), inspired by the spectacular, and at times zany contemporary art market. Using a framework of the iconic property-trading game Monopoly, artists become the properties for sale, auction houses are the railroads, and the board as a whole is transformed into an art market on display for viewers to observe and critique. Additionally, ‘Just bidding’, pass ‘Ego’, or ‘Go to Auction’ are some of the ways in which Artopoly playfully imitates the familiar game with an ironic and witty twist at every corner.

In the series titled ‘Balance Series’, Dan, Luo pushes boundaries and overthrows the audience’s visual comfort zone by elegantly balancing symmetrically posed so called ‘heavy set’ performers on slim poles.

He uses bronze as the core material to depict the spry, corpulent forms and the roundness and fullness of the statues to create a visual tension that is both heavy and light. He creates sculptures that defy gravity, his poetical expression leads the audience to an invisible world by giving shape to mystery.

T H E D AY D R E A M E R S S E R I E S B Y JAMES SEE T Entrance, Level 2 Titled ‘The Daydreamers’ artist James Seet of Art Front Collective will present a beautiful installation made up of hand-sculpted ceramics. Of his work, James says “In the quest for eternal change as an artist, I find it essential to tell stories, the dramas of life that may begin with something obscure to the infinite complexity that tickles the emotion. It’s a visual representation of a dialogue I am after, a theatrical performance to the eyes that behold!

P E R O N I X C H A J A E YO U N G Entrance, Level 1 and Creative Hub, Room E, Level 3 South Korean artist Cha Jaeyoung will transform the fair entrance and the Peroni Art Bar with her large ethereal ribbon installation, inspired by Peroni Nastro Azzurro. The installation epitomises the tradition of Italian craftsmanship, passion and flair upon which Peroni was founded. Inspired by Peroni’s belief in the spirit of collaboration and friendship, Cha Jaeyoung’s installation will represent the beauty of these convictions. #peronisg #peroni #peronimoments
