Community Assets

Strong, vibrant communities are good for everyone. Our members make our profits possible and for that reason, we’re proud to invest those profits back in our members’ communities.

The local community events and organizations we support with the help of our members make our communities across the province better, and that builds a better world for all of us.

Did you know that in 2022, Affinity Credit Union Member Councils invested $229,500 in community rinks and curling clubs?

Bienfait Coalfields Memorial Arena

Like many arenas that lie at the centre of Saskatchewan small towns, the Bienfait Coalfields Memorial Arena is home to small town hockey players and figure skaters of all ages. It’s now used as Estevan Minor Hockey’s third rink and frequented by men’s recreational hockey games five to six times per week. It’s often tricky to book a spot since teams are often snatching up times every weekday from 4 pm up to as late as 10:30 pm. During the off-ice season, the arena is also used by Roller Derby as well as Lacrosse.

Add in 2020-2021, when not only did the COVID-19 pandemic prevent the Bienfait Arena from opening, it was also discovered that they would need a new ice plant due to its age and condition. With an arena used by people all over Saskatchewan, our South East Member Council knew they needed to help.

In 2022, the Affinity Credit Union South East Member Council funded $50,000 to the Bienfait Coalfields Memorial Arena to build a new ice plant!
