WELCOME TO LIFE AT UAS

At Universal American School, we understand the importance of addressing all aspects of student development. We are a community school, with a community ethos. Through a range of student experiences, including leadership opportunities, cross-cultural experiences, and engagement in sports and the Arts, UAS fosters a sense of belonging and collaboration among its students.

This community-centric approach ensures that students not only excel academically but also develop the interpersonal skills and global mindset necessary for success in a modern world.

At the core of the UAS experience are our values: respect, integrity, collaboration, and excellence. These values underpin every aspect of student life, guiding interactions and shaping behaviors. Through reflection, effective communication, and principled decision-making, students embody these values as they engage in leadership roles, navigate diverse cultural experiences, and contribute to the wider community, while also fostering creativity and skill development in sports

and the Arts. Universal American School nurtures a supportive environment where students are encouraged to display open-mindedness and principled behavior, while also taking risks and stepping out of their comfort zones.

The Student Life Guides provides a valuable resource for both students and parents, offering insights into the opportunities available at UAS. With the understanding gained through this guide, parents can confidently guide their children, and students can make informed choices about how to explore their interests and develop their skills outside of the classroom.

LEADERSHIP

At UAS we believe that developing leadership skills is vital as it equips students to become balanced, principled and reflective global learners. From elementary through to high school, encouraging students to take on leadership roles fosters these essential attributes. This approach builds resilience and integrity, empowering students to navigate challenges confidently.

HOUSE SYSTEM

Each student at UAS is a member of one of four houses: Wolves, Wildcats, Vipers and Falcons. Students are expected to participate and collaborate in their house, demonstrate leadership, and uphold the values of their respective houses.

The aim of our house system is to promote teamwork, inspire school and house spirit, and develop a sense of belonging. The houses are used to celebrate positive contributions to the school community such as leading by example, effectively dealing with challenges, demonstrating good character, and supporting peers.

Houses also serve to build a sense of belonging and collective identity, with participation in special house days, social and sporting events, and competitions.

The house with the most points at the end of the academic year is awarded the House Cup.

Each house is led by House Captains and ViceCaptains, who are students selected by their peers. House Captains and Vice-Captains are nominated and elected by their peers each year in September.

House representatives are expected to be positive role models and take on a range of responsibilities such as leading teams, organizing events, and supporting house-related initiatives.

The student government serves as a platform for student voice and leadership. Through participation in the student government, students develop a wide range of skills that align with the UAS Learner Profile.
