UAS, NEW YORK NEXT GENERATION STANDARDS AND THE PYP FRAMEWORK
In the Elemantary School, we deliver a worldclass educational experience centered on the New York State Next Generation Standards, presented through the innovative IB Primary Years Program (PYP) framework.
UAS empowers students to actively engage in their own learning process, promoting inquiry, exploration, and meaningful connections to the world around them.
Our PYP framework encourages students to delve into real-world topics and explore broad concepts, providing a foundation for understanding that extends across subjects and contexts. With an emphasis on inquiry and concept-based learning, UAS fosters a lifelong passion for learning and critical thinking. Here, students develop the skills and mindset to become adaptable, knowledgeable, and empathetic contributors to our ever-evolving world.
Our Early Years program for PreK to KG2 offers a vibrant, inquiry-based introduction to education through the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP).
Aligned with New York Next Generation Standards, it fosters curiosity, creativity, and foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional growth.
Children engage in hands-on, play-based learning through transdisciplinary units exploring real-world concepts like music, architecture, and community life. The Discovery Room enhances this with imaginative play aligned to PYP themes.
In a nurturing, stimulating environment, our program sparks a lifelong love of learning while building essential skills for future success.

Universal American School is committed to educating the whole child by supporting and nurturing student’s development and learning. Our Elementary school curriculum is aligned with the New York State Next Generation Standards for English and Mathematics, and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for Science. These standards provide curriculum consistency across the grades and guide the content we teach to ensure that our students are ready for success in middle school and beyond. During their elementary experience, students develop important skills such as collaboration.
In Elementary School, assessments are designed to provide continuous feedback on the learning process, supporting effective teaching and learning. Aligned with the
New York State Next Generation Standards students are evaluated on the knowledge and skills they are expected to acquire. At the end of each learning unit, students demonstrate their understanding by applying their knowledge in new and authentic contexts. Parents receive a report at the end of each semester, outlining their child’s academic progress, approaches to learning, and attainment levels across all subjects.
To support our American curriculum, technology is integrated throughout the Elementary School. It provides students with innovative chances to learn and create. Students are given the opportunity to use devices independently and effectively.
