OUR IDEA AND ACTIVITIES
DIS has been educating the students of Dubai since 2005. We offer a highly experienced and dedicated teaching staff who will nurture and challenge your child as they navigate their way through the IB Programme.
DIS shares the Vision of the IB Organisation to ensure that the students who pass through our doors leave us as passionate life-long learners and responsible global citizens. The IB curriculum, with its focus on creating globally-minded students who are the leaders of tomorrow, fully marries with DIS Values.
In addition, students at DIS have the IB Learner Attributes embedded into their learning from FS1. We recognise the value of developing the skills of the individual so that they are fully prepared for life at university and beyond.
DIS offers students a state-of-the art sixth form facilities – the IB Hub.
The IB Hub at Deira International School consists of three floors; the Innovation Hub, the Productivity Hub and the Social Hub.. These facilities include study areas, dining, social and leisure facilities, which all combine to provide an ambient place to collaborate, relax and study independently.
IB AT DIS
OUR PROGRAMMES AND RECOGNITION
At DIS, we offer a fully inclusive package of IB pathways to ensure all students succeed at our school.
Students study six subjects from the different IB groups, three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level. Students also study a core component which helps prepare them for the rigours of university – Theory of Knowledge (a critical thinking based course), the Extended Essay (an opportunity to conduct research into a topic of their choice) and CAS (where students complete extra-curricular activities aimed at giving back to the community.
Students study one Btec qualification and choose between two to four IB subjects at either standard or higher level. Students also have the opportunity to go on work placements with our partner organisations and complete a Core component, consisting of a Reflective Project, Service Learning and Language Development. This pathway is equal to the IBDP and is recognized by universities across the world.
This is for students who want more flexibility. Students study six IB subjects but can choose any combination of standard and higher level. Students are not required to complete the Core component and points will be awarded for their individual subject choices. IB Courses is also recognized by universities world wide.

Growing up, my identity was fazed from moving around due to my parent’s job. I felt the need to change to fit in, but that all changed when I joined Deira International School, my second home. The home that welcomed me and allowed me to flourish. The home that rooted for me when I won my first poetry competition, and when I scored my first goal. The home that listened to me and gave me the space to be creative alongside my peers to redesign our sixth form space. The home that mentored me and helped me attain my goal of a perfect 45 points in IB. Deira International School will always be my second home; the place where I found me.
“Achieving this scholarship is an element of motivation to perform at my highest potential as I see it as a manifestation of encouragement and validation of my personal growth and learning journey at DIS. I vividly remember when I heard I had received the scholarship. I was squealing at the top of my voice and running around the house. I was ecstatic and seeing the sheer happiness on my parents’ faces made me realize how much the commitment and dedication towards my studies was all worth it! I feel so grateful to be a part of a group of like-minded and hard-working individuals who were all given the same wonderful opportunity through Al Futtaim Education Foundation to propel in what they do best.”
Our ownership by the Al Futtaim Education Foundation allows us unique opportunities for internships, work placements and scholarships.
