AFCM in the region

AFCM is counted among a handful of Australian fine music festivals that is of international significance and is reputed to be the only major chamber music festival held in the tropics. Our reputation has been built steadily and purposefully over more than 30 years, enabling us to gain the long term trust and support of artists, audiences, donors, government funders, and the North Queensland community

Every year we are able to engage international musicians who are making their Australian debut They tell us that they are attracted to perform here due in equal measure to the quality of colleagues they will work with and the relaxed, sunny North Queensland culture Our audiences tell us much the same: the AFCM for them is about the special quality of the music making and the casual laid back “vibe” that is such a feature of Townsville and its surrounds

If you would like to become a venue or destination partner with AFCM for future Festivals, contact the Partnerships Team for more information or to discuss a proposal.

Jack Liebeck, Artistic Director

Finally, after much anticipation, we were able to present Jack’s inspiring and innovative program to Festival audiences in 2022.

No stranger to the role, Jack Liebeck is the Artistic Director of his own music festivals Oxford May Music; the DESY Humboldt Science and Music Series in Hamburg; and Alpine Classics in Grindelwald, Switzerland He has a great interest in the links between music and science, appearing regularly with luminaries such as Professor Brian Cox, and you’ll find fascinating references to this passion dotted right throughout our AFCM programming

PARTNER WITH INNOVATION IN 2023

The hallmark of Jack's 2022 Festival program was most certainly innovation

In 2023 we invite you to partner with the maestro to deliver more groundbreaking, cross disciplinary and accessible content to Festival audiences and the broader community 5 PARTNERSHIP PROSPECTUS 2023
