Dutch Design Concept Welkom | Welcome DUTCH DESIGN HOTEL ARTEMIS is een design en kunst hotel, geĂŻnspireerd door de puurheid en originaliteit van Nederlands ontwerp. Nederlands design is bekend om zijn sterke, originele vormen, de pragmatische benadering en het gebruik van nieuwe materialen. Nederlandse kunstenaars maken graag kunst met een knipoog, dat leidt tot positieve inspiratie en een opwelling van vrolijkheid.

Van de lobby tot aan de kamers zijn tekenen van Nederlands design te vinden in allerlei vormen en manieren. De geometrische invloeden van de bekende Nederlandse architecten en kunstenaars Mondriaan, Dudok en Rietveld zijn te zien in de architectuur van het gebouw en de algemene ruimten.

Het weergeeft een bron van inspiratie door de Bauhaus beweging. De collectie brengt je terug naar je kindertijd wanneer je gewend was om te spelen met geometrische blokken in de primaire kleuren rood, blauw en geel. Experimenteren met verschillende materialen is een terugkerend thema in de Staring Back At Me collections.

The series “Flashback 8 necklaces” is based on spatial figures like the sphere, cube and pyramid. It hints an inspiration by the Bauhaus movement. The collection brings you back to your childhood when you used to play with geometrical blocks in the primary colors red, blue and yellow. Experimenting with different materials is a recurring theme in the Staring Back At Me collections.

To carefully observe the effect of all elements with which her work is built, she uses a research-based approach. Shape, color, rhythm, distance, space, stratification and material are elements that form the base to this research. A grant from the Heij-Konijn fund in 2012 enabled her to explore the possibilities with textiles. The design of the tufted carpet was inspired by her painting ’1203’ and adapted for textiles. Van ’t Klooster discovered that atmosphere, usability and spatial contact play a greater role in product design, than in her autonomous work. As a result, she did not design a rectangular carpet but a shape that integrates into the space. Working as both an artist and textile designer has functioned as a mutual positive influence.

About Carl Möller I am a practicing sculptor since a number of years.

Originally educated and working as an architect, I developed a passion for working with steel as a form of free expression. The work is abstract by definition and effectively is a search for the visual power of different geometric shapes. The geometric shapes as a result, showing themselves, no more, no less.

My intention is to create objects that will enter into a (silent) dialogue with its spectators.

The metaphor The natural inclination of steel is to return to its original state, being ore. In order to make steel from ore, a lot of energy is required. Steel therefore has a higher energy state and ore a lower energy state. Newly produced steel will corrode in order to return to its most stable state.

Disintegration of steel structures to the lowest energy state is the natural process. Similar to human existence, more energy is needed to preserve what is created and keep it from decay and disintegration than the energy required for the creation itself.

The sculptures The shapes as shown, were selected for the expo theme van Mondriaan tot Dutch Design.

Steel 64 is a serie of 4 shapes, developed according to the concept of a cube. Restricted to the measures of this cube (250x250x250mm) several forms are to be seen that are related to each other.

It will be obvious, that steel 45 and 52 are the “strangers” in this collection and have another position in the exhibition.

About The exhibits come from the series 'Sitting in Art', inspired by a variety of sitting positions, as found in various cultures and different social classes.

The objects have no title.

Two objects have been selected for the theme 'Mondriaan'.

The line play in my work does not tell a story, but brings rhythm into the design.

In the design of the objects, both the chair shape and the sitting position play a prominent role. This work best fits with the theme "Mondriaan" because of the line play in the backrests and the use of the primary color blue.

Looking at Composition No. 10, Pier and Ocean from 1915, you see in this work how Piet Mondriaan abstracted reality by using horizontal and vertical lines. The line play in my work does not tell a story, but brings rhythm into the design.
