Welkom | Welcome DUTCH DESIGN HOTEL ARTEMIS is een design en kunst hotel, geĂŻnspireerd door de puurheid en originaliteit van Nederlands ontwerp. Nederlands design is bekend om zijn sterke, originele vormen, de pragmatische benadering en het gebruik van nieuwe materialen. Nederlandse kunstenaars maken graag kunst met een knipoog, dat leidt tot positieve inspiratie en een opwelling van vrolijkheid.

Van de lobby tot aan de kamers zijn tekenen van Nederlands design te vinden in allerlei vormen en manieren. De geometrische invloeden van de bekende Nederlandse architecten en kunstenaars Mondriaan, Dudok en Rietveld zijn te zien in de architectuur van het gebouw en de algemene ruimten.

De D&A; Design & ARTemis expositie is een uniek concept waarbij elke vier maanden de gehele begane grond van Dutch Design Hotel Artemis een verrassend ander uiterlijk krijgt. Elke expositie heeft zijn eigen thema. Artemis biedt hiermee een platform aan zowel beginnende als gevestigde Nederlandse kunstenaars en designers om hun werk te tonen aan een veelzijdig publiek. Gasten kunnen naast de kunst ook genieten van heerlijk eten en drinken in restaurant-bar ‘De Stijl’.

The D&A; Design & ARTemis exhibition is a unique concept where each four months the ground floor of the hotel is changed to a surprisingly different setting.

Each exhibition has its own theme. Dutch Design Hotel Artemis provides a platform for both beginning and established artists and designers to show their work to an all round public. Beside the art, guests can enjoy tasty food and drinks in restaurant-bar ‘De Stijl’.

De natuur bevindt zich vaak letterlijk in het polymeer door de toevoeging van iepenzaden.

Over Gerda Maas Voor deze tentoonstelling maakte Gerda Maas diverse objecten geĂŻnspireerd op de natuur. Japanse Zen tuinen, zwermen vogels, spinnenwebben, nevels en gaswolken, dwarrelingen van zaden, sneeuw en herfstbladeren... daar gaat haar hart sneller van kloppen. Na haar afstuderen in de beeldende vakken aan de Leraren Opleiding van de Universiteit van Amsterdam (thans Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten), werkte zij lange tijd met klei. Sinds enige tijd is haar beeldend middel polymeer, een kunststofachtige verbinding. Zij ontwikkelde met dit materiaal haar eigen, unieke techniek.

Zij boetseert ermee, kleurt het, of voorziet het van een zuiver bladgouden of zilveren vergulding.

De natuur bevindt zich vaak letterlijk in het polymeer door de toevoeging van iepenzaden.

About Gerda Maas For this exhibition Gerda Maas was inspired by nature.

A Japanese Zen garden, a flock of birds, mist and extragalactic nebulae, a whirlwind of seeds, snow or autumn leaves, they can all give Gerda excitement.

After her graduation as a bachelor of arts and education Gerda worked with clay for a long time.

Now her prime choice of material is polymer, an artificial material. With which she developed her own, unique technique. She moulds it, colours it and enriches it with a pure gold or silver layer. Nature itself is part of the structures as e.g. elm seeds find their way into the polymer.

Toelichting werk Naast haar fascinatie voor bloemen en haar liefde voor tekenen, ontstaat haar werk door eropuit te gaan, op zoek naar de natuur in de stad. Zowel het onooglijke onkruid tussen de stenen als spectaculaire bloemen bij de bloemist op de hoek vormen inspiratie voor haar werk.

Blad / Leaf [20]• Toelichting Bloemen spelen vaak een hoofdrol in de ontwerpen van Tilly Zegers. Bloemen worden overal ter wereld geassocieerd met vrouwelijkheid en schoonheid, met kleur en geur, met liefde en attentie. De voorkant van deze jurk is gemaakt van een materiaal wat is ontworpen door Ulf Moritz, een grote naam in de interieurwereld.

Boven op het gaas zijn bloemen en bladeren van flinterdun vilt genaaid. De ontwerpster had slechts een meter van deze kostbare stof tot haar beschikking en wilde het dessin alle eer aandoen. In deze jurk staat hij daarom ook terecht op de voorgrond.

About Mark Croes Mark studied 3 Dimensional Design in Boxtel, The Netherlands. After this he also studied Interior Design in Miami, where he after his studies designed interiors for cruise ships such as casinos, theatres and suites. After that he expanded his portfolio by designing interiors for among others hotels and banks. Upon his return to The Netherlands he enhanced his love for art and architecture, especially the combination of materials and colors.

What was started as a passion for interior design and architecture resulted in the creation of his handmade home accessories, particularly lamps.
