‘SPECIALIZATION’, A BOOST TO COMPETITIVENESS
O
f the marble sector we have inherited the tradition of old and ancient quarryman craftsmanship job, with which the ancient Pyramids of Egypt, the Parthenon in Greece and the Alhambra in Granada were made. Today, new technologies are imposed in all areas and it is a reality that undertakes the career to work on the development of these has increasingly successful and, it seems, promising future. No need to name companies like Google, Apple or Facebook, which currently enjoy great commercial success. However, I must say that our, our ancient quarryman

craftsmanship job, despite the serious crisis that has suffered and still today is affected by the effects of experienced financial recession, remains a stable site, which provides a large number of jobs –3.715 workers as of August 31, 2016, according with INSS (National Institute of Social Security). Increasingly, labor has to specialize and qualify to get adapted to the technological needs with which our companies face new projects. From chisel and hammer to CNC milling and diamond tools; from tracer to the latest Cad 3D software for drawing and for almost realistic renderings with a preview of the final project finished; to extract from
our quarries in Macael to import marble, granite and other stones of all sites in the world and, of course, to sell in our local markets including national, provincial to have to go to Global Market, to adapt to international markets with the different idiosyncrasies of each of the territories in which our entrepreneurs seeking their niche market. That is why, this our business, we have decided to call as traditional, is today, in Macael and its region, adapted to the latest technological requirements and knowledge of both extraction techniques and production and, of course , to the market needs.

Definitely, the perseverance of businessmen who make up the sector, believing in the value of this trade, despite going through times of severe turbulence, are allowing us to ensure that this profession can endure in the following millennia and, of course, guarantee that our descendants can find a stable and safe place to work and develop professionally themselves, adapted to the highest standards of technology, that today, make us a benchmark worldwide.
For my part, after the first year as president of AEMA and with the help of entrepreneurs and technicians who make up our association and Board of director will continue working on that project and, I like to remember, other entrepreneurs before me made a great effort to help that would improve and allow that today we are one of the most important Stone processing centers worldwide. Much remains to be
done and improved and therefore we set ourselves to carry out a III Strategic Plan in a studied and consensual manner, to be more competitive and better. To do this, we still need certainly the help of the administration and the financial sector with which we have to develop it. We continue working and maintaining the spirit of overcoming from Macael and its region. el mรกrmol #28

he 'Amarillo Macael', -Yellow Macael- used both outside and inside of the ‘Riberas del Guadaíra’ theater located in Alcalá de Guadaira, Seville, it is another example of the versatility of natural stone. In total, 9,500 m2 of marble honed finish make up the enclosure, divided between stairs, flooring, and exterior wall made of ventilated facade.

POLISHED AESTHETIC When faced with the election of coating, finishes and decor in multiples solutions, consonance and harmony between the formal concept (primitive) and the realization of it –from initial idea to the solution of the smallest detail-, it must be a maximum in every creative process. Of the multiples options when selecting materials, there are a set of them that potentiate each other and combine perfectly. This union could be locked inside of the ‘natural universe’ and it would made up of the natural stone, woods, textiles and so on. The use of this set of materials has psychological and sensory

that refer to nature, the simple, the franc, the original, the unique, the primary. The coatings and pavements, understood as a ‘dress’ of the spaces, are the elements that have more emotional imprint for its visual presence. Specifically, natural stone, with the vast range of finishes, textures, shapes and colors, has the
