Dear Members, it’s that time again, firstly I must apologise to those Members who received the September newsletter after the Lunch, a delay in the Australia Post sorting process meant that so many of you received the newsletter so late, hopefully this month’s newsletter reaches you in plenty of time for the October lunch. So now might be the time to think of changing to receiving the newsletter by email. Thanks to all the cooks, helpers and to the band who all bar one are Members which goes to show how many talented people we are blessed with in our small association. We hope that all the Dad’s who were present had a great day and enjoyed the games and beer. The October Lunch is our Seniors Lunch and we will be entertained again by another great band – Sean Quintal and Friends so please join us for another fantastic day. Following the Lunch at 4pm we will be holding our Annual Tenpin Bowling Tournament at the Morley Bowling Centre corner of Walter Road and Coode Street so for some fun and even a chance to win a prize please join us. Don’t forget the Spring Dance being held 22nd October (more details on page 3) tickets are available now either from me or Joan Reincastle. Please note that ticket sales close 19th October so make sure you get yours now. Also those of you who are attending the Bentley Pines Dinner on the 21 st November please note that your payment is due to be paid to Joan Reincastle at the October Lunch. Carol Richards President

Can you help Following the recent survey one of the things that Members wanted was more local dishes being served at the lunches so because of this we are looking for more cooks to be added to our roster. Don’t panic we don’t expect you to cook for free or for the entire club and not every month, we can also organise help if needed with some of the preparation work. If you think you can help please speak to Phillip de Mello or Denis Koek concerning main meals and if you can help with cakes please see Carol Richards.
In the coming months we will be asking for nominations for our Awards and Scholarships so please put on your thinking caps to see if you have someone in mind who you think is eligible to be nominated. The Awards are the Ida da Silva for Arts Andrew Clark for Sports and Ivan Richards for Community Services Also the Academic Scholarships for any Member’s child in Year 10 now and going on to Years 11 and 12 (they must be studying here in W.A.). This year will also see the first Tony Quintal Scholarship for Tertiary Education being available. As I said start thinking about nominating a member whether they be family or a friend for any of the above. Nomination forms will be available in November.
